[[ BIO / sketch ]]
Junoâs family, especially on her fatherâs side, is filthy rich. They are majority of a well-known and lucrative technology company, which is ruled with iron fistsâ that means cold agreements, strategic thinking and a terrible sample of parenting, which led to whole generations of people with daddy/mommy issues.Â
Her family is Korean, but she was born in NYC, where her parents moved to so they could extend their business. She often travels to Seoul with her older brother, to follow him on business tripsâ you see, she is highly interested in Korean culture and what she sees as her homeland.
She is the youngest of three siblings, two years younger than the middle one, and God knew how many from the older. The only thing they all have in common is the struggle over the pressure their parents put on them to be perfect and good during their childhood and youth. Other than that, maybe, just maybe, the frustration of never meeting expectations.
To be honest, the harsh education did work on one of them. The older. To who Juno doesn't mind keeping casual contact nowadays; he is the best chance of a company heir their parents have. Meanwhile, the middle kid, Lee, was a messm, a mix of everything Juno wanted and avoided being. He had this free spirit she envied, but a destructive ass she wanted to keep her distance from. Not that she actually had ever avoided him... on the contrary. They were very close growing up. She would often talk him out and, surprisingly, sometimes he indeed listened.Â
Juno grew up as daddy's little girl; not that her father was able to show affection towards his daughter... but he was way more lenient towards her than with others. She did put effort into looking good and doing what was expected but she would also get away with a few slips. It didnât work for her advantage when she tried to convince him of not sending her to a boarding schoolâ apparently he was trying to prevent her brotherâs influence on her or something like this.
In high school, Juno was the Queen Bee. Even though getting stuck in a school like that was not something she had wished for, she loved the power, the attention, that came with living with other girls and ruling over them. That's when she started realizing that she could be an influencer, as her social media was growing every day out of the small cuts of her daily life. She started taking a huge interest on it.Â
When she graduated and came back home, it was weird; Lee wasn't living there anymore as he had left for college (this part was weird for itself because... Lee? In college?) and he hadn't even been answering her eventuall texts properly.Â
She hadn't figured what her next step post-high school would be, she was taking a small course on digital media, still having ballet, spanish and violin lessons. When, suddenly, the hospital called.
TW OVERDOSE //Â A neighbor found Lee unconscious in his apartment and, from what she grasped from the situation, her middle brother had overdosed. Juno had never been so scared in her entire life. Her mother was worried and got closer to Lee for a couple of months after this... not that it lasted long. And by "close", it was just one or two messages a week.Â
Juno also tried to approach him, but when he eventually moved to another city, it was just out of hand. At the time, because of the traumatic experience that she had a hard time handling, she had started seeing a psychologist. She learned about focusing on the stuff she had control of... like what she wanted to do with her life. Her parents, after almost losing a son and seeing the damage it had done to the youngest one, they weren't minding that much that she wasn't interested on the family business. And even didnât argue when she eventually decided on giving ballet and korean lessons.
Always dedicated, she continued taking dancing classes, along with violin ones. Kept posting her videos and her personal life on the internet. She started dreaming about opening a music studio or a music school. Maybe a dance studio. Maybe all of those. Possibly to work with young people that needed attention the way her brother needed and no one had given him.Â
When she heard about college on the sea, she saw it as the perfect opportunity to study and mature her idea. Knowing new people, places, grasping ideas. And hopefully doing a lot more for other people than her parents did for her brother or herself.
WANTED CONNECTIONS HERE.
