Hi I'm Jade (he/him), this is a blog dedicated to the Clangen adventures of Juniper Clan.
Stranded on a foreign land after a shipwreck, the two remaining cats of the HMS Juniper are trying to rebuild their small family. This blog will act as an archive of their adventures. This story originally began as a comic in 2024 and was remade as a visual novel in 2026.
To avoid spoilers, I will not be adding Allegiances until the story catches up to where the comic left off.

Something I’ve always wondered, and sorry if you’ve answered this before:
What is the technical stance on being a ship cat to clan cats? In the books I know warriors look down on kitty pets for the “soft life”, but does the same apply to ship cats? Even if Herons mother was a -star? How well known of a thing are they? And are they “ranked” above kittypets if they’re still looked down upon here?
I think I answered something similar to this in a prior post, but clan cats and ship cats are two ships passing in a storm (lol). Clan cats probably assume ship cats are rogues or kittypets, while ship cats are likely descendants of former clan cats/rogues. They create a bastardization of clan rules as they are scrambling for normalcy in a constantly moving territory (the ship).
This is why Heron messes up with a lot of traditional warriors information, improperly names Slickclaw with a warrior name instead of a healer name, etc. Her knowledge of warrior code is one that has been changed and misunderstood so many times that she likely appears very rude to clan cats.
StarClan split the velvet curtain of the sky, and the ensuing light shattered the world.
Fire burned despite the downpour of water from the heavens. The Two-Legs vessel was cast in all directions to be shredded by the gnashing teeth of the ocean. Into the hungry foam, Heronpaw fell.
Lavenderstar had told her that StarClan would return for everyone one day, be it in their dreams or through the hooked claw of another cat. It was a good thing, to be reunited with your loved ones. Heronpaw was so young, she could not imagine this happening to her quite yet.
Striking the churning water, she thought of Lavenderstar, she thought of her brother and sister in Starclan.
Were they scared, too?
Heronpaw was not allowed the luxury of fear for more than a breath. Adrenaline jolted through her and her paws scrambled for purchase in the murky darkness. She was suspended in the void of the sea, weightless and sinking all at once. Above her, the sickly pallor of the full moon, and beneath her, glimmering StarClan.
She felt their paws grazing hers. She could hear her name, spoken so far away and so warbled that it could have been a dream.
Heronpaw wanted it to be a dream. Yet, dreams did not involve drowning kits, and there was one entering the tide but a whiskers distance away from her.
Longkit.
She knew little of him, as he was less than a moon old and far too young to ever interact with, yet he was sinking like a leaden weight. The sunny orange of his fur was the only thing she had noticed, so jarring a sight against the void. Heronpaw cycled her paws in a frenzy, breaching the water’s surface.
She sucked in frigid air that stung her lungs, but did not linger. Heronpaw descended back into the depths, snatching Longkit in her jaws. He did not fight back. Distantly, Heronpaw thought that he was so small and warm compared to the ocean.
Heronpaw resurfaced a second time, sputtering pathetically for air through her nose as she gripped Longkit by his scruff. Only when Heronpaw dug her claws into the safety of driftwood did the kit react, mewling pathetically. Heronpaw collapsed beside him on their makeshift raft, fur flattened with salt water.
“It’s okay,” She repeated as a desperate litany, to either herself or the kit. “It’s okay, we’re okay, we’re okay.”
Heronpaw pulled Longkit ever closer to her, shutting her eyes to drown out the sound of Starclan’s claws tracing along the underside of the driftwood.

Fun fact: our lil boy guy man would be one of those cats that eats everyone else's food. Full? Keep eating, in fact, eat the other guys food. Though Heron tried her best raising him, he still had notable food insecurity as Heron was only 7 moons old when she was thrust into the role of leader / hunter.
Speaking of, your zodiac sign is Cancer the crab! You share a sign with Heron, who was born July 9th 1700.

@circus-clangen I drew Tigertoe! I love the character designs and the little animated bits of this comic, They do horror so well
@moons-of-dewclan I drew Nettleiris, I love the shape language in this comic and I love Nettleiris' shape the most and his colors
@juniper-clan I drew Amberbranch, I love his relationship with all the cats in the clan, there all so different and this comic had the quickest gut punch of all of them
@aphidclan-clangen I drew Stormwhisper, I love sparkle cats and its so cool seeing the different themes among the cats in Aphidclan and the xenogenders are so creative
@fog-clan I drew Raintiger, He is sooo messy and I love the conflict he brings to a clan of cats that for the most part like each other

had enough energy while recovering for some quick headshots, so i did a spin on that 'give me 6 clangens' thing & just drew some characters from different comics i've read & been inspired by c:

WILDFIRECRY (@loudclan-clangen) - im still not recovered from You Know What but his revenge bit was both badass and cathartic. the artists who can commit to character deaths are always really impressive to me!
HERONSTAR (@juniper-clan) - i've been dying to draw heron since she got her adult glo-up, i think her design is really fun. simple & strikingly effective! her very specific fur design was a nice challenge (i hope i got it right).
SNAILSTEP (@snailstep-and-her-clan) - i couldn't not draw the titular girl, especially when she inspired me to start this blog!! i really love her wild mane of fur so much & it was delightful to draw.
RUNNINGSTAR (@darkest-before-dawnclan) - i had a hard time picking just one character since they're all so interesting & well designed... but i ended up going with an as-yet only briefly shown character bc i really vibed with him!
VANILLABRIGHT (@moons-of-dewclan) - i don't know if i could ever do these characters justice, but dewclan is a longtime fav, and i love seeing other adult warriors fans, haha. i know the comic is kind of on hiatus, but i look forward to seeing whatever comes next!
CLOWNWISH (@circus-clangen) - absolutely a must-draw here, the setup for this clan is so unique & fun & the puzzles are just so creative! i haven't solved a single one bc i suck at puzzles, but still a huge inspo for me.
i'm always excited to see what other clangens pop up in the tags, i know most of these are more popular ones, but i'm hoping i get to draw fanart of some off the lesser-known ones soon!
