Something I’ve always wondered, and sorry if you’ve answered this before:
What is the technical stance on being a ship cat to clan cats? In the books I know warriors look down on kitty pets for the “soft life”, but does the same apply to ship cats? Even if Herons mother was a -star? How well known of a thing are they? And are they “ranked” above kittypets if they’re still looked down upon here?
I think I answered something similar to this in a prior post, but clan cats and ship cats are two ships passing in a storm (lol). Clan cats probably assume ship cats are rogues or kittypets, while ship cats are likely descendants of former clan cats/rogues. They create a bastardization of clan rules as they are scrambling for normalcy in a constantly moving territory (the ship).
This is why Heron messes up with a lot of traditional warriors information, improperly names Slickclaw with a warrior name instead of a healer name, etc. Her knowledge of warrior code is one that has been changed and misunderstood so many times that she likely appears very rude to clan cats.

Lavenderstar (formerly Lavenderflood) was the leader of JuniperClan on the HMS Juniper. She was the former deputy under the prior leader, Wispstar.
110 moons when she passed (born ~1692), she’s had three litters in the past with Tommy, a shipyard cat who would occasionally join the HMS Juniper on short trips. All of her living kits have gone onto other ships or became shipyard cats.
She was noted for her great speaking and fighting skills, though she rarely needed to use the latter.
Lavenderstar was likely a Norwegian Forest Cat / Maine Coon mix. She was descended from hundreds of warrior ancestors as far back as cats traveled alongside Two Legs.
She was confident in the validity of her half-clan kits and did not hide them from JuniperClan, nor shame any other half-clan cats or kitty pets.
Shiningpaw loves bugs and most arthropods. She likes to follow them around; it is a genuine curiosity and passion rather than a predatory hunting instinct.
Amberbranch often loses sleep thinking about his current duties and responsibilities. He also tends to hyper focus on memorizing the flora and fauna of the territory -- this leads to him being the cat that naps the very most in the clan!
Slickclaw will gorge himself on fresh kill to the point of uncomfortableness, and not eat again until he is truly hungry. Being born into starvation has likely warped his sense of hunger.
Heronstar will watch the beach she washed up on. There is no real reason, she almost feels comforted by it. Maybe like she's close to her mother? For whoever may follow her or talk with her, she will be in a noticeably more peaceful mood.
I wanted to go into depth for Howlstar, simply because I enjoy making these lore dumps and people love to hate her.

Howlstar (formerly Howlshard) is the current leader of RavenClan. She was the former deputy under the prior leader, Gossamerstar.
Born August 13th, 1698, she graduated early at 10 moons due to her speed and cunning. She was apprenticed by former deputy, Shallowroot. After mentoring her first apprentice, she moved on to take Shallowroot's role as deputy after his death during a redcough epidemic. She became leader of RavenClan in 1701 after Gossamerstar was swept away during a massive flood.
When she and Chipmunkstar ( formerly Chipmunktuft) were both young warriors, they had a brief secret relationship that ended when Howlstar became deputy and subsequently became more irritable. She is over the breakup, but is still soft on Chipmunkstar and will not raise her voice towards her.
Howlstar's current mate, Rippleshell, was one of four abandoned kits from a loner that RavenClan took in. They were apprentices together and got along well, and Howlstar was one of few that Rippleshell felt comfortable expressing her gender identity to.
She takes her job very seriously, and the responsibility that comes with her power often leaves her exhausted. The deaths in both her clan and family due to human interference, starvation, the prior redcough epidemic, etc keeps her on edge. She is only calm and vulnerable around Rippleshell or her sister, Lilacbreeze.
Howlstar received her ear scar from being mauled by a fox on a patrol.
Howlstar has had 2 litters with Rippleshell, for a total of 5 kits. 3 are still alive.
Howlstar is a varied mix of Oriental Shorthair, Siamese, and other such short-haired and skinny cats. While those breeds do not yet exist in the Americas during the JuniperClan story, I feel those best describe her.

Question for the twins! Do you two remember your biological mother at all? You were quite young so it makes sense if you don't but I was just wondering
I'm going to answer for them because I have been wanting to touch on their mother but never found an opportunity.
The twins do not remember her. They would recognize her scent as something very familiar, but they were just born when she died during kitting. That being said, they know what happened because Heronstar did not want to sugarcoat the truth from them.
Fun Fact: I did not know how to access dead cats / non-clan cats in the game archives when I drew Joy, so her comic design is inaccurate to how she appears in-game.
Her name was Joy, and she passed at 67 moons. She's estimated to have been born in the spring of 1697. The game did not give me information on her at all, other than she was a kittypet, her personality was "fierce", and she was proficient at hunting (experience ranked at 219).
In JuniperClan lore, she was a kittypet belonging to English settlers and had become impregnated by a local tom. Joy was a mouser and a good hunter, so wandering outside of the settlement was not unusual for her. A storm occurred while Joy was hunting, and she sought shelter near the tide pools; unfortunately the kitting proved to be too much and she passed after having the twins. Because Joy was active and focused on her skills more than having a family, they were the only offspring she had.
While Joy is not a Clan member, she was still buried on JuniperClan territory. Heronstar refuses to let any cat that dies on / near the beach be taken by the sea.

Wait - Lavenderstar's warrior name was Lavenderflood, and the warrior name Heronstar uses when getting milk for the kits is Heronflood! Did she name herself after her mom? That's so cute (and sad)!
Yes she did! Both were the work of the RNG, and I just find it to be a fun coincidence now.
