Work was crazy last night. I was serving this customer, and he suddenly turned his head to the door, then asked me what âthat soundâ was. I went out to go see what happened, and you know those yellow traffic poles? This lady was on top of one. She drove over it so hard, it bent. The front of her car was stuck on it. I helped her get out - she wasnât hurt, but she was shaken up. Apparently, she thought her car was in reverse and accidentally hit the gas instead of the break. They had to call a tow truckâŚ.but, for those of you who have never been to the bar, the parking lot is really small and the tow truck didnât have enough room to get behind the bar. I had to go back to work, so I donât really know what happened after that. But I do know it took over two hours before her car was out of the parking lot. Her insurance rates are about to go up like crazy. But the good news is, nobody was hurt.Â
Oh my god, Harley. Thatâs insane. But the good news is that you successfully hero-ed, right? It must of felt really good to help her out like that.
Name: June Joyce Superpower: Empathy Age: 20 Gender/pronouns: She/her Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual Face Claim: Natalia Dyer (+ kind, clever, optimistic &- stubborn, inconsistent, duplicitous)
Bio:
(tw: mental illness, depression, attempted suicide)
It was always only June and her mom, living alone in a sunny Michigan suburb. Single parenthood was easy for Ms. Joyce: she and June lived syncronistically, following each otherâs patterns and moods. June was an easy child: quick to please; clever; popular, but never cruel about it. They had a simple life, and that that was it, and it was nice.
Things changed when June was sixteen. Suddenly, June became moody, inconsistent, devastated one moment and overjoyed the next. June lost weight, and gained it back, she became dangerous to herself, spontaneous at moments, and then quiet and worried the next. These moods became increasingly concerning to Juneâs mother, but June could hardly notice them shift, caught up in their constantly fluctuating waves. One day, June left for school happyâ humming, grinning, kissing her mother on the cheek on her way out the doorâ and came home and tried to kill herself. The next day, June was admitted to a mental hospital.
Juneâs stay in the institution only made things worseâ mind flooded with too much inputâ mania and depression and worry and deliriumâ that she couldnât feel for herself anymore. Emotion, to June, was an external force and not her own. Treatment after treatment failed, until one doctor suggested a different cause for her problems. Had they heard of empaths? A super powerâ the ability to feel the emotions of others. A gift. After researching Juneâs fatherâs history, they discovered that he, too, had superpowers. June was not sick, just unaware of her own abilities.June finished high school like a normal teenager, but was tutored, after school, to hone in her abilities. She learned to concentrate on the gaps between herself and othersâ to open herself up to otherâs emotions without them becoming her own. And once she graduated, she enrolled in Save University, where she hoped to master them, to do something good with herself, to make a difference.
At Save University, June made friends fairly easily, breaking the stereotype of hero support as losers. One particular friend she met was Calvin Corelli, a boy who, since they met on the first day of classes, had become essential to her own identity. It was halfway through their freshman year that Calvin revealed that he had a vision of her. A vision of her dying. A vision that repeats for him, daily. While June has full faith in Calvinâs ability to save her, she walks around with a ticking clock on her back, constantly counting down. Sheâs determined that, if sheâs fated to die, she can at least do something meaningful in the uncertain time she has left.

âWhat do you think,â June said, turning to face her friend. âShould we get ice cream first, or go on the slide? Or maybe we should get temporary tattoos. I donât want all the good ones to run out before we get there.â
