#Mermay2026 :: Telescope & Oranda Goldfish

The first quarter has been rough. We had to rainbow bridge our beloved cat son, Jury, which messed us up but good. I've been dealing with some health stuff. And, of course, the world is on fire. In these enshittificated times, I find myself ruminating on our little joys and recording them on paper instead of screen (read: pen show came to town last Xmas and we got inks…). Haha wow I suck at it, but it feels nice.

This entry chronicles collecting Chapters at the National Library, checking out By Hand Marche, dropping into Think, and going to see the Disney Adventure Fireworks and Drone Show from Merlion Park. c:

It's Succubuns' (21+ ARPG) anniversary again! I always love and cry over all the cutie spoopy buns in the anniversary raffle. ;_;<3

After crying and grinding out our MaxCat and JunBun tarot OC cards, I hurriedly cried and ground out a quick Empress card of our unproblematic fave - because what is drawing OC Trading Cards for if not your blorbo? What is drawing for? QAQ

Maxx and I are ardent fans of wynfred1840’s beautiful soft sculpture dolls, and always dreamed of getting a little orchid mantis to join my mantis soft sculpture collection (previously of one). I thought it was a pipe dream largely because of the potential shipping cost* all the way here, but it turns out Maxx had been secretly saving to commission it for my November birthday last year, and then promptly missed every slot in the Great Twitter Evacuation…until this April on Bsky. 😭 Look how beautiful, she's perfect down to each dainty foot! We love her endlessly. 💖

And here is my little mantis soft sculpture collection, previously comprising of only my darling praying mantis commissioned from the defunct Nonesuch Garden in 2009. (I probably don't need to tell you how despite being person-rabbit, I am also fervid mantis man.) I’d never dreamed that we could add such an exquisite little inhabitant to it 26 whole years later. 💞

It's been tough, but I really wanted to at least post for Mermay! Long time since I've done one of these: just a simple mermaid; maybe she might eat you.

Quick sketch gift (which means it took an hour, which is super quick for me ;_; ).

And by took an hour I mean 50 minutes fiddling with the faces and ten minutes going "oh shit oh shit time's up gotta draw the bodies."
