                milena twirled the paper straw in her iced coffee as she waited in a back corner of the cafe nervously for jules’ arrival, quietly thinking through for the millionth time what she was going to say. after years of avoiding him, she was tired of keeping a good friend at an arm’s distance. especially now being on the receiving end of someone pushing her away despite her best efforts, her guilt had finally led to her reaching out to ask the male to grab coffee. with a baseball cap pulled down on her head, she looked up at the sound of the bell on the door indicating someone’s arrival. the brunette lifted her arm to help jules locate her tucked away from the rest of the customers. “hey,” she said with a tentative smile as he approached the small table for two, unsure of how to act around him anymore. “thanks for coming. did you want anything?”
