I need to rant.
I fucking hate how people are bashing heated rivalry. Now Is that because I’m a fan of the show ? no. it’s not.
I just find it irritating how these people say that all heated rivalry is sexualization of gay people, when it’s infact very heart warming and tender, and the best reviewed episode has no sex scenes whatsoever. And these people are talking about how movies like broke back mountain are WAY better gay media and WAY better representation when broke back mountain (I love this movie don’t kill me) literally shows the murdering and suffering of gay people. Maybe I want my community represented not by our suffering but our victories and joyous moments. And it feels like almost all of queer media usually shows suffering even when it turns out maybe fine in the end. But when tv shows like heated rivalry show how maybe being gay isn’t about suffering , people want to bash it and say it’s unrealistic. It kinda feels like the only way to be portrayed as gay is to be in distress. It feels like people are diminishing this community. I love heated rivalry because it shows others how you can be gay and happy and prosperous and non conforming. Heated rivalry shows gay masculinity where it’s not shown a lot in media. Most media portrays gay men as feminine and almost a butt of a joke 24/7.
I’d rather have a couple cheesy unrealistic gay movies and shows rather than JUST ones showing us dieing off.
Does being sick make anyone else incredibly gay.

I know tumblr loves their ships, but I viewed their relationship as completely platonic and big bro and lil sis energy.
Langdon is kind of a prick. Being one, he constantly rubs the other docs and nurses the wrong way. He says snotty things and overcompensates with arrogance when in reality he's turning to meds to cope.
Mel is inherently gracious, patient, and kind and for Langdon, one of the rare few who lets him expend his energy without judgement. (Though she does put patient need above getting his approval).
Mel on the other hand is awkward, quiet, and (most likely) on the autism spectrum. She gets overexcited sometimes or overwhelmed other times and regulates at a different pace than the people around her. She's an odd duck and knows it. And being an odd duck, it can be hard to find people willing to let you be so without judgement.
Langdon's braggadocio and "you can't tell me nothing" attitude gives Mel space to be safe within the "outsider/odd duck" side of things. He sees that she doesn't fit in like he doesn't fit in (albeit for very different reasons) and checks in with her when he notices her own brand of "different" impacts her well-being. He's defending her because no one defends him (which like, it's hard to defend pricks so I'm not necessarily blaming the other docs/nurses for their response to his behavior).
Langdon is the "popular jock" and that's a type of protection I'm sure Mel has never had much of or ever before. And Mel is blunt but kind and that's a level of grace Langdon hasn't had much of inside the ER or outside.

Bro I need to talk about how different the storylines are for red white and royal blue book and movie because it feels like they are way off.
(This has a bit of spoilers for both the movie and book)
I am obsessed with the movie and book but holy do they have different plot lines.
First of all June is not in the movie at all which is kinda shit because she would have made it much cooler and a bit less confusing from Nora since I thought Nora at first was his sister which was deeply wrong.
Second I wish they kept the plot of it being more political- yes it had to be short and it was a romance movie but it added and explained so much.
Like when Henry and Alex were fighting and Henry did the “my life is the crown and your is politics” spiel - and how Alex didn’t risk anything. I’m gonna be honest Alex had such a shitty answer in the movie. If the movie went with the book plot it would have made more sense because he had to give up his role in the campaign after his mom found out about him and Henry.
Also the whole Luna problem would have been a really deepened Alex’s character and also Bea’s story adding on to why Henry was so hesitant to be with Alex.
Dude I really need to find more people who like this book or I’m gonna explode.
