Two more early Star comics from 2010, when Star was a delusional grade school girl. When I was a Sailor Moon obsessed kid I always tried to get animals to talk to me, so the first one is based on that.
This is the very first drawing I ever did of Star Butterfly (top left). I first drew her in my 3rd year at CalArts (2008).

non-spongebob stephen hillenburg stuff is kinda sparse to come by but i really do like seeing it, it’s all very interesting and i’d like to see more of it
for example these two paintings he made that adam paloian posted on twitter are cool
people make jokes about how people who weren’t allowed to watch spongebob as a kid are always talking about how they weren’t allowed to watch spongebob but as one of the aforementioned people who wasn’t allowed to watch spongebob my insight on the matter is: you would not BELIEVE the amount of times spongebob comes up in normal adult conversations. i don’t often think about him of my own accord but people reference him and i have to say. what? and they say. it’s from spongebob?? and i say. oh i never watched spongebob. and they say why? and i say. i wasn’t allowed to. and then a few weeks later it happens again
Spongebob is one of those shows that has just engrained itself very deeply within the cultural language. Before spongebob it was the simpsons, before that it was cheers, before that happy days, and so on. One day it wont be spongebob (and i say that as a fan) it will be another show that was funny and/or intelegent, moreso than its companions, it will get popular and some parents will deem it unfit for their childeren to watch and the cycle will continue.

On the one hand, i’m amused at the joke. On the other hand, I’m a librarian and this shelving is horrifying.
