viktor didn't always have a filter when very drunk hence why he rarely did get drunk all that often. now jayce sits here looking sad and saying he  ' liked him better sober. '  what had viktor said again. he'd said a lot and while the hurt in jayce's voice sobered him up a bit, he was still drunk after all. staring at him, he thinks through everything he's said over the last few minutes when it hits him. 

jayce had shared a new idea and viktor's response had been  ' you aren't in your right mind, '  and he’d definitely said it with some bite. it's not that different from what jayce's own mother said during his trial when after they'd first met and he knew those words had hurt him then. 

now he sobered up even more, a heavy weight forming in the pit of his stomach. how could he have been so careless with his words? he didn't mean anything by it of course but still, it was cruel. 

carefully making his way to the couch, he gingerly sits next to the man and turns to face him. as much as he didn't necessarily want to look him in the eyes, unsure he'd keep his own emotions in check, he knew it wouldn't be fair to not look at jayce.    "  i'm so sorry,  "    feeling worse now that the apology is out, the rest of his words tumble out as nerves take over,    "  i wasn't thinking and the words came out without me realizing. that isn't an excuse for hurting you but it was not my intent. i truly did not mean it. you are one of the brightest minds out there and all your ideas are brilliant.  "    as he finishes, he begins fiddling with the hem of his shirt, hoping jayce accepts his apology and internally deciding to never drink this much again.
