he doesn't have a devil fruit yet, he hasn't used any haki, hell he hasn't fought back at all beyond tranquilizing a celestial dragon from behind. he knows he can't free all the slaves or stop the hunt or stand up to the holy knights. he can only save two babies, and even then, he is nearly killed in the process (only surviving by sheer luck rather than strength or skill) and ends up losing one of them.

the purpose of showing dragon here isn't to reveal how badass he is, it's to show that even as a seventeen year old low-ranking marine who gets nauseous at the sign of violence, he was ready and willing to question the system around him. and honestly, that's a more impressive feat to me than any show of physical strength.

speaking of which, we haven't seen many (well, actually, any) feats of physical strength from dragon yet in the story in general and tbh i think that's fully intentional. i think dragon is a character similar to robin, where he CAN fight, but only because he has to in order to protect himself and his cause. his real value lies in his intelligence, leadership and steadfast moral core. if he never had to fight another day in his life, he'd be more than happy.

by contrast, dragon's father is a man whose reputation revolves entirely around his physical strength. his nickname is "the fist". his whole thing is just punching people really, really hard. yet garp is the one who has remained subservient to a system he doesn't fully believe in for fifty years, while his son was party to one act of government violence as a teenager and immediately defected and thought that dying might be what he deserves for the sin of his (extremely temporary) involvement.

but dragon didn't die. he kept going, kept moving, kept saving people. first it was that little red-haired baby, then it was entire countries, and now he's starving out the monsters at the very top. it's not about how hard he can punch his enemies. it's about political consciousness. it's about caring for people with no personal connection to you. it's about identifying the true rot at the heart of the world and being unafraid to question it, even if it might get you killed.

I already forgot which post it was, and again, this is my interpretation, not the bible. Do not take it as the gospel truth.

See how Law is hiding under his hat? This isn't an emotional moment, which is when he tends to hide under his hat.

I really think he's trying to NOT look at Robin because she's wet and wearing a very pastel colored shirt, meaning it's probably somewhat see through now because it's wet. I've said this before, but I'll say it again... I headcanon Law as a gentleman because of his upbringing. His dad was shown to be a good husband to his wife, and a good father to his children. I am sure he instilled a respect for women in Law, and Law was shown to be a sweet son to his mother and a loving older brother to Lammy. He thinks fondly of his mother's kindness in his first novel, and Hakugan's sister reminds him of Lammy in his second novel.

But what about Franky? He is looking, and he's a gentleman too!

Yes, he is, but Robin and Franky are also crewmates. They are family. They live together. I am sure there have been awkward situations and run-ins that sometimes happen when you live with other people. Franky is also touching his chin in thought, so I think he's looking at everything here as Robin is making her conclusions.

Law and Robin are not crewmates, and Law is constantly denying his friendship with the straw hats. He probably saw what she looked like and decided to avoid looking at her, deeming it inappropriate in her current state. "Look away until she's dry. She is a woman, and she is not in my crew. I would not be okay if someone looked at my mom or my sister in that state." Do I also think it's possible that some level of attraction was blooming here? Maybe. A little bit. They did have some nice interactions in Dressrosa, and she did almost die with him. I think gratitude and appreciation was probably more what he was feeling here though. Gratitude for almost dying with him, and appreciation because of her work. We now know that he was already looking for poneglyphs at this point. I can also see how that gratitude and appreciation would make someone like Law respect Robin.

I think the real bond probably began to develop on the sub while going to Wano. It would've been the perfect time for that. No loud Luffy irritating Law, and half of the crew would be going to whole cake to get Sanji. That leaves Zoro, Usopp, and Franky, who also went on the sub with Law. Zoro was probably sleeping a lot (and getting lost around the sub lol). Usopp is terrified of Law and Robin individually, but together? OH. I can totally see him choosing to stay away from them whenever possible. Franky I can see being completely fascinated by the sub, so he probably spent some time with the Heart Pirates looking at some things and maybe even working on some improvements for it. Oh, please tell me Franky did something to the sub to somehow still make it salvageable after chapter 1081. It's a long shot, but that sub was too cool to just end up at the bottom of the ocean in Davy Jones' locker. My point is... that leaves Law and Robin to spend some time together. I can totally see them bonding by having good conversations, but also by having some quiet time together. Law also collects coins, and I can see him showing these to Robin, and I can see her being into it because currency is also part of a country's history and culture. There had to have been something to build up Law's trust in her, enough for him to feel comfortable telling her his full name. If he just wanted information, he could have just said that he was a D like he has done before, but no, he told her his whole long ass name. Oh, and the Heart Pirates? I can see them feeling the vibes between Law and Robin and choosing to do him a solid by leaving them alone.
