16th read of 2026 is good ol' "Jurassic Park" by Michael Crichton. This re-read is technically "for work," in that I'll be guest-starring on a podcast next month to discuss the differences between the book and the movie.

With that angle in mind, I was really taken by how many subtle (and also not-so-subtle) changes they made between the book and the screenplay, and I agree with practically every single one. Grant needed to go from hating kids to liking them. I'm fine with Hammond being less of a prick. The t-rex needed to come back for one more heroic appearance. Malcolm lived. A lot of these changes are necessitated by the change in medium, but a lot of them simply make for a better story.
