October 2019 my realty company attempted to steal money from me by charging me double rent assuming I had autopay set up for my rent. I say this with confidence because I have discussed it with other tenants (I live in a 16 floor high rise that’s technically two buildings, so there are a lot of us in here). When I approached them about it they claimed I missed July 2019 rent. I proved I paid it and was told it would be changed. The never changed it. I went to the BBB and my realty company lied to the BBB and said I was now missing September 2019 rent. When I proved I paid that as well I stopped hearing from them. My rent continued to multiply to numbers I couldn’t keep up with due to them never changing the mistake. I fell behind and in January 2020, I was served an eviction for $0 - essentially they were attempting to get me to just leave, I assume it’s because I wasn’t just paying them money blindly and was trying to fight back. I lawyered up and was set to move March 27th of 2020. March 24th 2020, I lost my job to Covid. I had only worked there two months so I wasn’t approved for unemployment. I also have not received any stimulus checks, I am still trying to figure out why via the IRS but have yet to be given a direct answer or solution to collect any stimulus money. I live alone, and no I can’t live with any family, and no I cannot ask any family for money; my entire family is very poor and have bad credit. My court case was put on hold and I was in limbo - no income, just waiting to be evicted. Since then I have made my sex work more mainstream for income, and that’s how I’ve been eating, paying bills, feeding my cats, and all other living expenses. It is barely enough to keep my head above water. While I have been stuck here, I have been harassed nonstop by the property manger. She has turned off my water multiple times, turned off my gas, come into my apartment while I wasn’t there. Came into my apartment with no warning and no permission while I WAS there. I have been seeking employment anywhere, but I have only service industry experience on my resume and that is the industry that has suffered the most from Covid. I am asking for help to pay back money I’ve borrowed, pay for repairs I’ve had to get done myself, pay for food, bills, and to help me create a safety net so that I can move safely. My credit is terrible so my only hope to is pay months of rent upfront. I have no savings, I have been living dollar to dollar for a year. Now my case is finalized and I HAVE to be out by March 31st or I will be evicted. Anything is appreciated. Recourses are also greatly appreciated. I didn’t want to tell my whole story because I really feel like it’s no one’s business, especially when there are so many scam gofundmes, I figured what’s the point of exposing my business? But I’m just tired and people on here keep bullying me about asking for help so fuck it. If it helps me get help I’m willing to expose it, despite how embarrassing and devastating it is to me.
