Joy’s Passions: First and foremost, Joy has always been passionate about singing and performing. You could say it runs in the family since two of her elder brothers are country music artists, but for Joy, it’s in her veins. There is never a moment where she is not putting on a show, whether it be to impress someone or make them laugh, Joy is always having a good time. She tends to handle things in her way, which has put her at odds with music producers in the past and is why she currently doesn’t have a record deal. However, Joy has hopes to one day go to Nashville and show up her brothers.
Family Dynamics: Joy grew up on a farm in Missouri where her dad ran a tractor dealership that made most of the family’s fortune. She’s the youngest child and was mostly raised by her elder sister Laurel and her mom, both of which tried to keep Joy doing “girly” things, but her mom, in particular, gave up on her by the time Joy could chase after the three boys who she adored and wanted to be like. The friction between Joy and Laurel has persisted over the years to the point that now they don’t speak, but Joy is close with Boone, Trent, and Clay and closest with her next eldest sibling Clay. Trent Adcock is a household name in country music while Clay prefers to be a songwriter than a famous music artist. Boone works as Trent’s roadie and Joy has been spit out by the music industry so many times, she pretends she doesn’t care anymore.
Now and Then: As a child and well into her adulthood, Joy was always an instigator and free-spirit who did what she liked and nothing she didn’t want. She’s used to getting her way as a daddy’s little girl and that made it hard on her when she first tried to go to Nashville. She basically got laughed out of town and that hurt her pride, which is why she decided to run off from Missouri and Tennessee both until she ended up in Turtle Cove where she entertains people just fine. She does want to be a star and has wanted it since she was a little tomboy, but she knows it will come at the price of many freedoms that she has now.
