Sad that we could never see this
š Infinity Nikki & Infold Games: The Slow Death of a Dream (A Very Tired, Very Sad Rant)
I didnāt expect to be this upset over a fashion game, but here we are.
Infinity Nikki had everything it needed to succeed: visual magic, creativity, charm. But Infold Games didnāt just mismanage it. They butchered it.
Hereās everything that led me to uninstall the game and boycott Infold entirelyāeven Love and Deep Space.
āø»
šØ 1. The Dyeing System: From Creative to Capitalist
A system that used to be about expression has turned into an in-game economy designed to squeeze money out of color palettes.
You cannot freely dye outfits. Each color unlock requires rare materials, and if you want to unlock an entire outfit set? Youāre paying or grinding through ridiculous amounts.
Worse? Every piece of a set has its own palette. Not just one. Not even one per outfit. One per piece
āø»
š« 2. The 11-Piece Dress Gimmick
In trailers: It did not appear to be an 11-piece set. But it was still a beautiful outfit
In the game? You need 220 pulls to get them all.
Then, if you want to dye them? Be ready to farm materials individually for each piece.
Itās not a bonus. Itās a trap.
āø»
š 3. Sea of Stars = A Giant Empty Shell
Letās talk about the Sea of Stars: a gorgeous zone that feels utterly pointless.
You go there once a day, do 3 commissions like āsit on a bubbleā or ārun around and touch fishā, and leave.
Itās childish. Itās insulting.
I get that maybe they wanted to attract younger playersābut not at the cost of dumbing the game down for everyone else.
The only semi-cute feature? Seeing ghost silhouettes of other Nikkis walking around.
The rest is an empty loop of āco-opā that barely matters and gives nothing meaningful.
āø»
š§µ 4. The āApologyā That Wasnāt
After all this, the devs gave a ācompensationā reward of diamonds spread over daily logins, and some random items via email.
This isnāt an apology. This is lip gloss on a sinking ship.
āø»
š£ 5. Influencers⦠Who Never Played
What really rubbed me the wrong way was seeing so many gaming influencers (mostly male) jump in to comment on the drama.
Not because they were fans. Not because they cared.
But because they saw it trending.
This game was built for a community that actually cared about style, softness, worldbuilding, aesthetics. And when it failed? The loudest voices werenāt from us.
They were from people who never played it in the first place.
āø»
š§ 6. The Retcon = Why?
Some people said the lore retcon was added just to accommodate co-op.
But like⦠why?
Co-op is a universal system. You can add multiplayer without nuking your entire narrative. The new story direction felt forced, empty, and frankly, damaging.
āø»
š 7. Why I Left
I havenāt logged in for 20 days.
I uninstalled the game.
And honestly? I didnāt want to.
This was my first real experience with a dress-up game. Iāve played combat-heavy RPGs and gacha before. Never something soft, whimsical, aesthetic like this. Infinity Nikki was supposed to be that escape.
I invested so much time and effort into this game, more than I should have.
And Infold took that and turned it into a monetized loop of disappointment.
I even had to boycott Love and Deep Space, and that hurt. I liked the characters. I liked the vibes. But Infold is clearly incapable of respecting their own player base, so I refuse to support them further.
āø»
šø 8. Free to Play? Just Say You Want My Wallet
If youāre going to build your monetization this aggressively, just be honest.
Slap a price tag on it and stop pretending this is free-to-play.
Because it isnāt. Itās pay-to-decorate, pay-to-express, pay-to-exist.
āø»
š And the Final Straw?
Yeah, this post is late. Itās been over a month since the launch disaster. But I saw the new update and⦠meh.
That was the final emotional kick.
āø»
Infold Games didnāt just mess up Infinity Nikki.
They disrespected their players.
They over-monetized what shouldāve been joyful.
They built something full of heartāand ripped the heart out.
Iām not even angry anymore. Iām just sad.
Adaptations & the Audacity š¤
Iāve been meaning to scream about this for a while, so here we go:
Adaptations of novels, mangas, manhwas and webtoons ā when done well, they slap. When done badly, they feel like a slap. š®āšØ
āø»
š„ Solo Leveling
(Just to clarify, Iām referring here to the original domestic Japanese release, not the international version.)
I get that the anime was made by a Japanese studio. I understand the choice to make the MC Japanese.
BUT BRO.
There are tons of anime with American/European/whatever-nationality characters that never felt the need to localize them this hard.
After people complained, they kinda⦠retconned it by making the subtitles reflect the original story while keeping the audio as is.
Which is wild.
Itās genuinely frustrating to hear one thing and read another. Iām not fluent in Japanese, but I understand enough to know when somethingās off ā and yes, it does affect immersion.
āø»
š„“ ORV (Omniscient Readerās Viewpoint)
I have no words.
Okay, I do, but theyāre mostly screams.
First of all, thank god the new trailer finally included swords because that āOmniscient Readerās Gunpointā BS was criminal.
BUT ā and this is a big but ā Iāve literally seen fan artists on TikTok and Insta animate Bihyung better than the actual trailer.
Also? I love Kdramas. Iāve watched them forever. The actors? I respect them.
But they do not fit the characters. At all.
This isnāt just a mismatch ā it feels like whoever greenlit this adaptation just said:
āORV has a huge fandom. Letās make money.ā
It feels disrespectful.
No heart, no understanding of the characters ā just cash grab energy.
āø»
š The Beginning After the End
Honestly? Iām fine with the art style. The webtoon feels better but I guess it can reflect the early webtoon aesthetic and grows with Arthur.
BUT.
The tiny changes in the details?
The absolutely soulless fight scenes??
Why was it way cooler to read than to watch??
You know how upsetting it is when you finally see a beloved fight scene animated ā and itās dry, stiff, and completely lacking the energy the webtoon had??
Itās like ordering a cake and getting a rice cracker.
āø»
š A Business Proposal
Business Proposal: If I hadnāt read the webtoon first, I mightāve loved it.
But because I did? I just sat there going, āWhere is half the plot?ā
The acting was great. The vibes were fun.
But so much was removed that it felt like a parody of the source material. š
āø»
š¬ In Conclusion:
Adapting a webtoon or manhwa into an anime or drama isnāt a bad thing.
Sometimes, it even turns out beautifully.
⢠Fullmetal Alchemist? Great.
⢠Tokyo Ghoul?⦠Anime who??
But if youāre going to do it ā DO IT RIGHT.
Donāt:
⢠butcher the plot for āeasier pacingā
⢠miscast characters because of clout
⢠strip the fandomās favorite details for convenience
⢠or change entire contexts because youāre too lazy to animate them properly
If itās too hard to adapt well?
Then maybe give it to another studio or just donāt touch it.
Respect the source. Respect the fandom. Or just⦠donāt.
Love this fanart of loki

sobbing
Crying š
To the people complaining about Kumaās backstory.
If youāre bothered by Kumaās backstory, maybe you missed the part where One Piece has always been about fighting injustice and exposing the cruelty of power structures. This isnāt just a sad flashback ā itās a reflection of reality. And Iām tired of people pretending otherwise.
Romance Book Rant: Fated Mates, but Make It Unnecessary
Currently reading: Practice Makes Perfect
I just finished the first book of this series (When in Rome), and I loved itāit was cute! Even though their attraction felt a bit forced in the beginning, it was still adorable to read.
So naturally, I picked up the second book, especially since itās about the youngest sister. But like⦠my girl. You talked to the man for a total of five minutes and then got jealous when your sisters mentioned him? YOUR SISTERS.
Excuse me? Girly?? What is this next-level fated mates bullshit??
This isnāt even the first time Iāve seen the āI get jealous when somebody mentions his/her nameā trope, and itās so frustrating to read. Get butterflies, get a bit weird, sureābut not full-on possessive. Like⦠who even are you..?
Point isācan we PLEASE, for the love of everything, keep the fated mates trope in fantasy where it belongs?
