Yikes, I did it. After redoing and tweaking the email and my resume for days, I sent a volunteer inquiry email to my local health department. I'm hoping they'll let me volunteer in admin a couple of days a month, so by the time I get my Medical Billing & Coding certificate, I'll have a year's worth of relevant experience.

I'm a little concerned about things like fatigue spells and bad roads in winter, but two days a month shouldn't be too overwhelming.

I've been very tired the last four days. I'm having a hard time accomplishing anything. I'm probably just a little burnt out. Hope I get a bit more energy before fall classes start.

I was thinking about volunteering two afternoons a month at the health department's admin department (they apparently do take volunteers) if they'll have me, but I can't unless this passes. Even a few hours sounds overwhelming right now.

If I could volunteer, that would give me some decent experience to put on a resume.

I tell this story all the time but I'll tell it again! When I taught kindergarten full time, we had a working bee one weekend where we did a bunch of gardening/landscaping in the outdoor area. One of the dads put up a bit of fencing, then stood back and had a look, kind of frowning like he wasn't sure. His wife then came along, and the following conversation ensued:
