Hello World, 2024 Edition
I originally started this Tumblr blog in May 2008. That feels like a lifetime ago.
Since then... I had a lot of life changes. Got married. Moved a few times. My son was born. My mom died. Got a bunch of grey hairs. Suddenly found myself in my forties (and, crap, how does that happen?)
Anyway, I recently stumbled on some old content from my Tumblr and thought it was time to bring this thing back. I met some amazing people through Tumblr and it helped my career and my life take off in a bunch of wonderful ways. I look back on that era fondly.
And... Looking at my Tumblr activity, it seems like some posts and threads I made took on a life of their own and are still being shared and discussed 10+ years later. That's humbling as hell and I'm honored to see it.
Anyway, I now work as a marketing consultant at Ungerleider Works and help people make podcasts, YouTube videos, newsletters and that sort of thing. Give a shout if I can help you with that.
So, with that... Tumblrverse, keep on doing your great work in 2024 and beyond. Go go go.

In an early episode of the hit podcast âMissing Richard Simmons,â which aired its sixth and final episode yesterday, the host, Dan Taberski, tells us about the exercise class at Slimmons, Simmonsâs Beverly Hills studio. Simmons had led this class for some forty years, from before he got famous and continuing long after he became a multimillionaire. Taberski tells us that Slimmons had a few rules: one, know your place; two, no cell phones, no cameras, no recording devices; three, Richard is going to get freaky. âRichardâs class is a little bit performance art and a lot of bit burlesque,â Taberski says. Heâd get flirty, even flash people. And four: Richard will bare his soul. Simmons had cried in every class Taberski attended, telling inspirational stories and sharing his own struggles. Once, when Taberski brought his friend Lauren Weedman to Slimmons, she freaked out. Weedman says that Simmons was hilariousââuntil he started crying. Now itâs gone into a zone of, âWhatâs happening?â â It was out-of-control crying, she says: âAt the time, I remember thinking it was scary.â And it seemed that the students were there not to help but to watch. She compared the idea of going back to Slimmons to going to the bar âwhere Amy Winehouse drinks herself to death.â
