Week 7 Blog Post
After completing modules 3 & 4, I now understand the significance of developing and sharing effective content. The modules started by explaining the value of content and the importance of a content strategy. The modules states "Not only is well planned content a great way to build trusting relationships with your audience, it can also help you support the needs of your business. The best way to achieve this is by ensuring your content reflects the unique perspective of your brand, while also taking into account the needs of your organization." By building a strategy around these fundamental ideas it will help ensure a path for your company to follow.
A content strategy is essentially a gameplay for how you would like to approach the coordination, creation, and distribution of an organizations content. By not using a content strategy it would be the same as a football coach telling his players to just go run around and see what happens. There always needs to be a plan to properly and effectively make your goals become achievements.
The creation of a content strategy may not be easy but there are guidelines that can help create one revolving around your company. For instance, there are 4 key components of a Social Content Strategy. These include research and analysis of current content reception and strategy, your target audience identified by platform, a list of content specific goals and objectives, and plans for distribution of your content. Researching is significant because it helps to identify what content your followers are most enjoying and connecting with. It is important to remember that each platoform has a different audience that may have different reactions to content. instagram is an application focused around pictures and videos, whereas an application such as twitter may be more successful from tweets. For instance, I follow multiple different clothing brands that post pictures on their instagram of new clothes, sale items, and other items. However, the twitter is used as a way to give updates about the company via tweet. These can be to let customers know when a sale begins and ends, future plans for the company, and other alerts that customers may need or want to know. I find the research side of the Social Content Strategy to be the most important of the 4. Researching gives companies all types of information that is necessary to innovate and invent their strategy.
