On the following link to the are.na page is a collection of photographs of some exhibitions. Mainly from a quick trip to Venezia this past weekend.
On this channel are shared some reference pics I took on recent visits

THE COLLECTION (WIP)
Videos
The main part of the collection is shown by using double sided projections on tall hanging projection screens. In this āmaze-likeā area u can walk through and under the constantly changing projections. A single subject/video is shown on all the textiles at once. Each one however gets a different bit of the projection, so all screens are unique.Ā
Depending on the subject and video the projections change into a new video. Some of the videos are shown and projected for about 30 seconds, while others may take 2 or 3 minutes. There is no strict routing through the area, feel free to follow vision and hearing and experience the ever-changing forms of microbiological cell-structures.Ā
The following videoās are shown on the hanging projection textiles:
Computer generatedĀ
A collection of videos of cells, bacteria and molds growing, multiplying and slowly taking on new forms and situations.Ā
Come Together, Chemotaxis in Dictyostelium discoideum (2019), Dirk Brockmann.
A behaviour observed in organisms, such as amoeba and slime mold, showing a single-cell organism self-assembling into a multi-cellular āslugā.Ā
Hopfen Turingles (2018), Dirk Brockmann, Benjamin F. Maier.Ā
Reaction Diffusion; Sensing the shape of a cell with energy minimisation.Ā
Scotts World (2018), Dirk Brockmann.
Pattern Formation in Microbial Communities
Particularly Stuck (2017), Janina Schƶneberger, Dirk Brockmann.Ā
A kinetic process driven by randomly diffusing particles that gives rise to fractal structures, reminiscent of things and growth patterns we see in natural systems.Ā
Colonial chrysophytes, Synura uvella(2013), Wim van Egmond, Delft.Ā
Cytoplasmic streaming in slime mold(2020), Wim van Egmond, Delft.Ā
Smooth Life Visualisations (2022), Joppe Boots
This generative projection shows how complexity arises from simplicity. LIfe shows complex virtual āorganismsā arising out of the interaction of a few simple rules of multiplying and movement.Ā
Voronoi visualitsations (2022), Joppe Boots
One of the base forms of cell structures. The projection keeps ever changing and forming new cells. Variations are shown, showcasing the stretching or amplifying of cellsĀ
Nanotomy Atlas (2022), TU Delft.Ā
A project made by the faculty of Applied Physics which tries to make a āgoogle mapsā version of cells. The video pans around the cell and slowly zooms in more and more, revealing even more structures and parts of the cell.Ā
Begone DullĀ Care (1949), Directed by Evelyn Lambart, Norman McLaren
Music by: Oscar Peterson
Audio
To make the exhibition an immersive experience the different areaās inside the space are accompanied by various abstract pieces of music. They are played after each other and the moment between two songs forms 1,30min. of silence. The projections and videoās keep going.Ā Then the sound re-appears.Ā
The following pieces of music are played in the exhibition:
Brian Eno Studies 12: Organa 2 (1996), Brian Eno
A piece of generative music that was lost and revived decades later.Ā Calm and an almost organic/nature feeling of sound.Ā
Limoux (2022), Joppe Boots
A simple improvisation on an arpeggio-synth indicating the many multiplications happing in the micro world of cells
Ensemble for Somnambulists, ft. Aase Nielsen (2022), album: X, Wheel, artist: Heith
A bit more mysterious but still abstract sounds. This is played while showcasing the Voronoi generated structured.Ā
Briefly (2022), album: Music for Animals, artist: Nils Frahm
A modern abstract piece with a lot of unique sounds. The total length of the piece is 27min. In the exhibition this will be cut into shorter pieces mixed through the total sum of sounds.Ā
Beyerinck and van Iterson
In this area there are two led screens. They showcase the drawings made by Gerrit van Iterson, Martinus Beyerinck and HenriĆ«tte Beyerinck. The drawings reveal the findings of the Delft Pioneers, showing for example the mathematical and growth side of cell structures. They are alternately shown with the beautiful plant drawing of HenriĆ«tte Beyerinck.Ā

Euphorbia broteri. Onderwijsplaat met vergrote afbeelding van microscopische weergave van de bladdoorsnede met melksapcellen van Euphorbia broteri.

Antoni van Leeuwenhoek
To bring and connect everything together, the main center of the exhibition space forms a small dark room. The first thing u see is the microscope made by van Leeuwenhoek. When walking further there is a comfortable piece of furniture to sit/lay on. In this area the letters written by Antoni van Leeuwenhoek are read out loud and played through a couple of speakers. On the ceiling there is a continuous projection showcasing his drawings and observations.Ā
We see a connection with the abstract and modern videos projected earlier. Antoni saw a lot of these details with his impeccable microscope and continued to write about them to the London Royal Society.Ā
Microbiology Photography
On a singular projection screen a small collection of visually stunning microbiological photographs are shown. They pan around on the screen. When a photo leaves the screen on the right edge, the photo re-appears on the left side.Ā
