Finally feeling at home: about a month ago, I moved JPW To BUellton, CA. Instead of driving for 3/4 hours in each direction U now ride my bicycle for five minutes to get to my 840 sq ft workshop. That’s an extra 30 hours per month freed up, not to mention gas and other transport expenses. I have an assembly station, wheelbuilding station, photo studio and shipping area, in addition to my office space. My neighbors are woodworkers, saddle makers, plumbers electricians and V-twin gear heads. Sometimes, I just have to shake my head at the short-sightedness of companies who should know better. My customer Chris brought me his rear wheel from a Specialized ebike which had been breaking spokes. And no wonder; the wheel was built with 28 spokes, each spoke having a butted section of only 1.6mm. Jeez, what stupidity. I rebuilt this wheel with DT Swiss Alpine Three spokes to give this 28 spoke wheel a fighting chance of providing solid service.
