“Hey,” he smiled upon approach. “We’ve got a real festive lunch goin’ on in there, if you wanna join? There’s even some floatin’ candles. Never seen nothin’ like it.”

“Well tha’ sure is a fine mighty smell comin’ from inside that there hall. ‘Would be hard enough to say no to a cooked turkey on the bes’ of days.” John smiled, extending a hand in greeting. “I thank you for the invitation Tommy. I’m sure my people an’ I will appreciate it, even if there’s some hesitance in sayin’ so. I imagine it’s been a good few years since any o’ us had a proper Christmas meal, let alone one accompanied by… an’ I’m hopin’ I heard this correctly – floatin’ candles?”

“‘Scuse me?” Alicia put her feet down, halting the bicycle before the stranger. “Hi. I’m looking for my brother, Nick. Brunette, hair to his shoulders. Probably high as a kite. Any chance you’ve seen him?”

“M'sorry to say ma'am, but I haven’t seen anyone matchin’ that description. ‘Don’t know many people m'self, there’s a lotta’ faces in this town.” John pressed his lips together, wondering if there was another way he could offer her his assistance. “Y'know, it’s gettin’ late, sky’s gonna’ be darkenin’ soon. I could accompany you on your search if you’re worryin’ about findin’ him, two sets o’ eyes 'sure to be better than one.”
