So basically, you get a long strip of paper, make a knot, fold it up into a little pentagon and then pinch the edges to make a star shape. This diagram explains it better:

Many times, they’re given as gifts to a loved one, and the number they recieve from you signifies a certain message. If you’re not giving it as a gift of love, legend has it that either 100 or 1,000 can be used to make a wish.

Anyway, to the good stuff:

Imagine making these for your f/os!!! Imagine their delight (or confusion, for more stoic f/os) when you place it in their hand. Imagine teaching them how to make one as well, patiently explaining and re-explaining the steps until they’ve got it down pat.

And once they’ve got the hang of it, they can’t help but explore their new power.

Imagine them leaving little stars on your bedside table before they leave for work/school, or inside the lunchbox they packed you, or through the slot of your locker. Imagine making matching bracelets or necklaces for each other out of stars, wearing them proudly whenever you go out. Imagine them surprising you with an entire bottle of stars they’ve collected over time, ranting on about how special you are to them and how all the time they spent was worth it.
