The country of Benitoite, a nation of sea and trade, had, as its name suggested, built its prosperity through trade.
The countless treasures obtained by sailing across the boundless ocean and overcoming long, perilous journeys formed the foundation of modern-day Benitoite, bringing wealth and peace to its people.
The most famous adventurer in all of Benitoite and the wealthiest man on the continent, whose name everyone knew—
That person, who had achieved such great feats that his name would remain in history, was my most beloved fiancé.
(Compared to Silvio-sama, my existence is so small… so ordinary… and I’m a nobody…)
Azel: Love is a curse that drives people mad. The stronger it is, the more it becomes a poison that consumes you.
Azel: Even if you are happy now, it doesn't mean it will last forever.
(I want to be… more and more… of a treasure worthy of Silvio-sama.)
(I have to be.)
The endless blue sky, the vast ocean where motes of light danced—
Everywhere I looked, the world was sparkling, and my heart was full of elation.
Emma: Silvio-sama, I can see it now!
Silvio: Hey, don't get so excited. It wouldn't be funny if you fell into the sea.
I was holding onto the railing, fanned by the sea breeze, and I was looking out into the distance.
Silvio-sama, who had hurried after me, wrapped his arms around my waist.
Silvio: Are you a child?
Emma: It’s because everything is so new to me, so I can’t help but…
Silvio: You can’t help but make me worried about you.
Emma: It's alright. I’m not a child, so I won’t fall.
Silvio: I don’t know about that. I never know what you’re going to do.
Emma: You don’t believe in me… that’s so cruel.
Silvio: It’s your fault for how you behave, isn't it?
Emma: Is my behavior that bad?
Silvio: It's too bad. You try to hug me every single day, given the slightest chance.
Silvio: Even when I don't like it. That’s why I can't trust you.
Emma: I’m sorry, my love just overflows. But I feel like you don’t actually dislike it…
Silvio: Hah, don’t get so cocky.
His strong hands on my waist tightened, and I couldn't stop my blissful smile.
(Am I getting a little too excited? I know I should be more reserved, but…)
(Ever since I started living in Benitoite, I’ve read countless adventure stories based on Silvio-sama’s voyages.)
(I came to long for a voyage of my own, and I always wanted to go out to sea with Silvio-sama.)
(So of course I can’t help but be excited.)
(But maybe I should get a hold of myself.)
In the distance, I could see land.
It was still far away, but it was our destination for this trip.
Silvio: Yeah.
(Tanzanite, the country of fortune-telling and enchantment… it’s one of the major countries on the continent, as big as Benitoite.)
(I heard that there's a real god there, and every citizen worships the god, but…)
Emma: Have you been there many times, Silvio-sama?
Silvio: I have ties with the god there.
Silvio: When I was struggling with my business or my sea routes, I often went to listen to his voice.
Emma: I'm surprised that you pray to a god, Silvio-sama.
Silvio: It’s not like that.
Silvio-sama took his hands off me and quietly gazed at the distant Tanzanite.
The voyage was going smoothly, but I knew his heart was anything but calm.
Silvio: Hah, you're right.
Silvio-sama, with a fearless smile, placed a hand on my head as he always did.
(I hope that all the rumors are lies, and that I'll be able to meet the god in human form.)
Silvio: Well, I figured you’d be coming sooner or later.
Rio: This can’t be helped, can it? —Oh, Emma!
As I was heading to the castle conference room after being summoned, Rio, who was sitting in a seat near the entrance, stood up energetically.
Rio, my friend and former personal butler to Belle, had now regained his memories and had "switched jobs" to become a close aide to Silvio-sama, the heir to the throne of Benitoite.
Although I was initially shocked by his fairytale-like background of being a prince, I had since gotten used to it, and it had become a part of my daily life.
Rio: I'm sorry to bother you when you’re so busy. Are you alright? You're not tired, are you?
Emma: I’m fine. Compared to you and Silvio-sama, I haven't worked nearly enough.
Silvio: Why are you talking so much when you're the one who's collapsed from overwork before?
Emma: I only collapsed once.
Emma: I actually want to schedule more lessons, but…
Silvio: Of course that's not happening. Be more reserved unless you want to be put in a collar and locked in a room.
Rio: I won’t stand for that, you know?
Silvio: I don't care. Besides, you should be on my side about this.
(As the fiancée of the next king of Benitoite, he could be stricter with me.)
(As a commoner, I don’t have the knowledge needed to be a queen, nor do I have any experience.)
Silvio: You understand what it means to be a fiancée, don’t you?
Emma: I understand. …And he's a prince of a foreign country, so I'm sure it's going to be nothing but difficult.
Emma: Oh, by the way, my position as a lady is real.
Emma: It was an extra reward from Belle, and Sariel-san gave me the status.
Silvio: That doesn't change the fact that you're a commoner, though.
Emma: …I’ll do my best to be a lady.
(The people of Benitoite, including the current king, don't know that my status as a lady is just a sham.)
(My status is real, but it's as good as a lie…)
(I’m trying my best every day just to not give myself away.)
My sloppiness as a commoner would only drag down Silvio-sama, who holds the position of the next king.
And yet, Silvio-sama didn’t seem to like it when I pushed myself too hard. It was both a ticklish and frustrating feeling.
Silvio: Anyway, don't just stand there. Sit down.
Rio: I'll make some tea. I have some special rose tea that I got from Rhodolite.
Silvio-sama pulled a chair out for me, and Rio skillfully began to brew tea on a wagon.
They were supposed to be on bad terms, but their coordination was so impeccable that they didn't even give me a chance to refuse.
Rio: Here you go.
Emma: Thank you. I’m sorry, Rio, you're not a butler anymore.
Rio: I'm only doing this because I want to. Brewing tea for you is my life's purpose.
Silvio: You stupid dog, make some for me, too.
Rio: Why? That would be a waste of good tea.
Silvio: Huh?
Emma: More importantly, the important topic! You had an important topic you wanted to talk about, right?
I cut off the conversation that was about to turn into a fight, and Silvio-sama and Rio exchanged a meaningful glance.
(…?)
Silvio: I’ll say this first, but don't take this too seriously.
Silvio: The other day, an old friend of mine broke off our friendship.
Emma: Broke off your friendship?
Rio: Aww, that’s so sad. My brother has so few friends to begin with—ow, ow, ow!
Silvio-sama grabbed Rio by the head and made it creak.
(They’re just like always.)
I used to panic and stop them at first, but now I knew this was their way of showing affection. I would just quietly watch them unless it got too serious.
Emma: The fact that you called me here must mean that he's not just a friend.
Emma: Could it be… Prince Gilbert?
(The prince of the country of war and ore, Obsidian, and the world’s curse…)
(If he broke off his friendship with you, it would be a huge problem that would involve our country.)
Silvio: Who said he was my friend? Don't say such disgusting things.
(…Phew, it seems it’s not him.)
Silvio: My old friend is Matias.
Emma: …Who is that?
Silvio: Do you know about Achroite?
Emma: Of course I do. The country of snow and law… it’s one of the major countries on the continent, isn't it?
(They're supposed to be an old friendly nation that Benitoite has been trading with for a long time.)
(I think it was written in a book that trade became more active after Silvio-sama developed a new sea route.)
Silvio: He’s the prince of that country.
Silvio: And I got a very grand letter from him.
Silvio-sama let go of Rio's head and snatched the letter that was carelessly placed on the table.
I took the letter that was offered to me and read it. My face grew pale.
Emma: This is…
Rio: “I hate you for choosing Gilbert-sama over me. I’ll never speak to you again.”
Silvio: Don't you dare summarize it in such a disgusting way.
Rio: But it’s not wrong, is it?
Silvio: …Tch.
(It’s a blatant criticism of the four-nation alliance.)
(…And it even has an official seal on it.)
Emma: Does this mean it's an official letter of protest from Achroite?
Rio: As expected of you, Emma, you’re so quick on the uptake.
Gilbert: Getting along with me is my father's idea, you know?
Silvio: Benitoite has abandoned you.
Silvio: If you had just wagged your tail and served me a little better, I might have sided with you, you know?
But in the end, Silvio-sama did not abandon Rhodolite.
Silvio: …I didn’t protect them.
Silvio: I just thought that would be better for the national interests in the long run.
What Silvio-sama had accomplished, even going against the wishes of Benitoite’s current king, was the formation of an alliance that included Benitoite, Rhodolite, Jade, and an inviolable treaty and trade agreement with Obsidian, which was thought to be absolutely impossible.
(The drafts were taken back to each country for details, and the actual signing ceremony happened just a little while ago…)
(And this letter arrived a little after that, right?)
Silvio: Just as we are restraining Obsidian, Achroite also has a long history of war.
Rio: And Achroite is also a neighboring country of Obsidian, just like Rhodolite.
Rio: If anything, Achroite has probably been invaded by them more often.
Silvio: In reality, something similar to the Day of the Bloodstained Roses has happened there as well.
Silvio: They must see Obsidian as just as much of a threat as Rhodolite does, or even more.
(I thought the world would become peaceful if the four-nation alliance was formed.)
(But that was only because my world was Rhodolite and Benitoite…)
(For Achroite, it may have become a threat to their peace.)
I was reminded of how narrow my world was, and I realized I had been clenching my fingers.
Rio: Achroite is afraid.
Rio: They're afraid that Obsidian and Benitoite will become allies…
Rio: and that a massive amount of wealth will only accelerate the military industry of an invading country.
(…I can’t say anything back. That’s a legitimate concern.)
(But I don't think Silvio-sama failed to foresee that.)
When our eyes met, he gave me a brazen smile.
Silvio: We’re in a tough spot, so to speak, but we’re not completely powerless.
Silvio: I was planning to go directly to Achroite soon and make it clear that the alliance is for security purposes only…
Silvio: And that we have no intention of being hostile towards them.
Silvio: And that we would not provide any military support to Obsidian…
Silvio: And we would also make our mutually beneficial relationship even stronger through trade and investment, and let a huge amount of wealth flow to Achroite.
Rio: What’s important in a situation like this is making Achroite think that “there’s a profit to be made from having a relationship with Benitoite…”
Rio: It should have been a piece of cake for my brother, who is a merchant… but…
Silvio: .....
(Huh?)
Emma: Did something happen?
Rio: …To be honest, if it were just the letter of protest, we could have dealt with it.
Rio: But Achroite made their next move faster than we expected.
Emma: …I’m afraid to hear it.
Silvio: Then should we just stop there?
Emma: No, I want to hear it. Please let me share the burden.
(This isn't an unrelated topic for me as the fiancée of the next king.)
(Besides, Silvio-sama saved Rhodolite.)
(My capabilities are limited, but if Benitoite is in a crisis…)
(This time, I want to be of help.)
I braced myself and waited for his words. Silvio-sama placed his hand on my head.
Silvio: You said that well. In that case, let’s have you share the burden.
Emma: I’m ready for anything.
Silvio: The other day, Tanzanite, Rhodolite, and Achroite formed a three-nation alliance.
(…)
Emma: …This is a big problem!
(This was an even more outrageous story than I had imagined!)
The blood had already drained from my face, and I felt like I was going to lose consciousness.
I barely managed to stand my ground, but I couldn't be calm with the major countries of the continent now in opposition.
Rio: Don't worry, it’s not like they're about to start a war that would involve the whole world.
Silvio: It makes the most sense to assume that this is a measure to protest and counter the four-nation alliance, but…
Rio: There are a few things that concern me.
Silvio: As much as I hate to admit it, I agree.
Emma: Specifically?
Rio: For example, Tanzanite… that country is also a friendly nation of Benitoite.
Rio: They're not exactly in opposition with Obsidian, and they have no reason to side with Achroite.
Silvio: The possibility of them siding with Achroite for the sake of continental balance is plausible, but…
Silvio: Jade is also in the four-nation alliance. And Tanzanite, who relies on Jade for food…
Silvio: This three-nation alliance seems like a foolish choice.
(I see. If they were to make enemies out of not only Obsidian and Benitoite but also Jade…)
(Tanzanite could be facing a matter of life and death.)
Rio: As for Rhodolite, they're in the middle of a civil war and shouldn't have the luxury of paying attention to other countries.
Rio: Military support for Achroite would surely be difficult for them, and there is no short-term benefit for them to form this alliance.
Silvio: In fact, Rhodolite is in a position where they would be seeking aid.
Silvio: But now that the four-nation alliance has been formed, Achroite doesn't have the luxury of giving them aid either.
Emma: So… you’re saying you don’t understand the motivations of the countries that formed the three-nation alliance?
Silvio: That’s the problem.
Silvio-sama broke the silence that had fallen upon the three of us with a brazen smile.
Emma: So this is where the god in human form lives…
Silvio: Wait, Emma.

I've always been interested in Rio and the heroine's story because it was obvious that Rio has liked her for a very long time and there's no way she never noticed it, so it's nice to see that he actually did confess to her once but the heroine brushed it off! I think the most interesting thing from the little prologue is that the heroine calls herself a coward, I don't feel like the heroine has ever really been self-deprecating so that might be cool to see. I dunno, but that CG of the heroine and Rio's first meeting made Rio look very much like Chevalier. I mean I've always suspected that Rio might be a prince? I think it was cute how past Rio wanted to die but the heroine wouldn't let him because she found him so it was her decision to save him or not and she's going to save him. I don't think I believe that Rio has lost his memories though. I feel like he's just left past Rio as "dead" because he found a new life - to live for the heroine. Rio is so dramatic and I live for it. There hasn't been an LI that loves the heroine from the outset so seeing him constantly express his love through his actions from the very beginning is kinda cute. I love how prepared he was to lecture the heroine in everything about Benitoite. I think it was very sweet to know that Rio went to Sariel and hassled him for reports on Benitoite etc and basically read and digested everything and then made it understandable and simple so he could explain it to the heroine easily. I guess it's quite amusing to see that once upon a time, Rio was actually very cold to the heroine until he warmed up to her one day lol. It was really sweet to know that Rio already planned things and knew what Silvio was going to do and helped the heroine just as she did for him back in the day. I loved their little date on top of the hill overlooking the town, especially when they reminisced about how in the beginning, Rio didn't like this town and didn't think there was a need or reason to love it, but as he lived there longer and with the heroine, he came to sincerely love it and I think that's sweet.
Colour me surprised, because I didn't expect the reason for the heroine's distance to be because she found an engagement ring in Rio's personal effects when they looked at the wreckage of his carriage and that's why she can't give his heart to him, since there's someone he needs to go back to. I'm not sure why I thought of this, but right when I was reading this story, it made me think of this manga I read when I was young where a girl and a boy fell in love but weren't allowed to be together, they tried to run away or something and the boy ended up falling off a cliff and she was searching for him for years. She eventually found him but by then he married someone else and had a kid because he had no memories of his past, and once the girl told him about their past and how they promised to love each other eternally, he felt so terrible for betraying her but he couldn't abandon his current wife, and he chose to kill himself because he couldn't endure the guilt of choosing either of them. The wife devastated also followed after him and the girl was left with the orphaned child of the man she loved the most but also carrying the guilt of basically "killing" him and destroying their family. I know it probably won't be as devastating here but I couldn't help but think about that story. It was sweet to see what caused Rio to open his eyes to his surroundings and stop focusing on only himself. Seeing the heroine from his perspective argue with the townspeople, telling them to apologise to Rio, and how it was revealed that the heroine was protecting Rio behind the scenes this whole time trying to appease the townspeople who didn't like him was really heartwarming. The heroine has always been kind, but the extent she goes to for others is very admirable. It's understandable why Rio would like her, but yeah, understandable why it's difficult for them to get together knowing that their time is limited once his memories come back, they're just ignoring this crucial issue so they can live happily. I wonder why Rio was repulsed when he looked at his belongings back in the day. He obviously didn't like his life because he wanted to die but why did he have a ring? I'm not surprised that Silvio knows who Rio is and that they bicker like they do because they're familiar with each other, but it's sad to know that the more we get closer to the truth of his identity, the more someone wants Rio dead. I'm quite glad Sariel set it up for Rio to hear that the heroine loves him, because she'll never say it to him lol. Nice for it to be confirmed that Rio is a prince from Benitoite, basically Silvio and Emidio's brother. I guess we should have guessed it with how their names all end in -io! Hahahaha! I've always enjoyed Sariel and Rio's relationship so it was nice to see Sariel whack him to his senses that he should have the same conviction he had in the beginning when the heroine was first about to be called to the palace and Rio was ready to protect her from anyone that would hurt her regardless of who they were.
I don't like the name Valerio hahaha. But I'm glad to see the plot moving. Emidio seems more like the one trying to kill Rio but yeah, it's sad that Rio has to go back to Benitoite now that the king knows he's alive and apparently cherishes him? The only crappy thing is that it means he and the heroine will separate. I'm glad they got to properly convey their feelings to each other and not regret their actions because it's about time they stopped thinking so much and allowed their feelings to make the decisions. I swear Rio is so sweet and cute though hahaha, I love how much he loves the heroine. It's actually so funny how Rio purposely left a hickey exposed to show the princes that the heroine is his haha. Usually, I would not be impressed with that, but I think with him being forced to leave to Benitoite soon, and the fact that the heroine actually liked the idea of being marked by Rio, I'm good with it. I can just imagine the smirks from Clavis and Nokto though hahahaa. I loved Rio's love letter to the heroine. Alike the heroine, I actually expected a sappy book of his love, but I love how it was actually all his tips on the princes and court etiquette etc, I love how practical and useful it actually was. I think that's the best way to show her his love especially considering he's already overflowing her with his love in person so she really doesn't need it in writing until he's gone haha. It basically is a culmination of his love anyway with the amount of effort he put into it and how he did it all for her. I'm so sad that they have to part because I think it's so sweet how the heroine's kindness and her vulnerabilities allowed Rio to understand back then how truly kind she was and made him fall for her, but the sweetest thing is that the whole time he's been declaring his love for her, he was always trying to convey to her that he will always support her and be by her side. I think that's why even though Rio should be the type of guy I'm not into but somehow I really love him. I think it's because of how genuine his love is for the heroine and how he doesn't suffocate her with his love but instead watches over her and does everything he can to support her in whatever she needs to do and never expects anything back because he truly wants her to be happy.
Rio does look pretty good in his prince outfit, I like it! I'm happy that Rio is insistent on being "selfish" and finding a way for him and the heroine to be together despite the difference in status. It may be seen as selfish but I agree that once the heroine admitted that she had fallen in love with Rio, there was no way he was going to ever let her go. Awww Rio leaving her a plush that is a dog with the same hair/fur colour and eyes as Rio coupled with an attendant's uniform as well is the cutest thing ever hahaha. Trust Rio to already have a rabbit plush that resembles the heroine for himself hahaha. Lmao when Silvio came out of a big box in her room, no wonder why Gilbert was so suspiciously nice😂 I love how Silvio said Rio is a rotten mutt but he's not an asshole🤣 That's a heavy story...Valerio finally being old and capable enough that he ended up exposing the previous queen's crimes for trying to kill his mother, which then drove the previous queen to suicide. I guess in this sense, it's understandable for Emidio to hate Rio but at the same time, it was understandable for Valerio to have done what he had done back then since he needed to protect his mother. I think it's rational and nice to know that Silvio doesn't blame Rio for what he did and even thinks it was justified. It's sad that Valerio could never cherish anything or love anything because he never had the power to hold on to anything he wanted. He lived as a way of self-preservation and gave his "love" to others with his smile so they could be useful to him. Honestly, with how spiteful Emidio was all this time, he has no right to blame Valerio for anything, especially since his mother actively tried to assassinate Valerio's mother. Lmao when Akatsuki, the bookstore owner who is basically the heroine's dad was going to bust that Rio was planning to kill Emidio and not talk with him when he promised the heroine that he wouldn't kill anyone lolll. But I think it was nice that the heroine made him remember his promise and reconsider in order to save his heart rather than because she thinks killing is wrong, although she probably thinks that too.
Overall, to my surprise, I actually quite enjoyed Rio's route! Initially I thought I wouldn't like how he keeps expressing his love for the heroine but I actually found it endearing because as you play through the route, you understand that every time Rio said it, he genuinely meant it every single time and never said it playfully. He was genuinely appreciative of all the heroine did when she saved him, and was really enamoured by her pure kindness and sweetness. I enjoyed the dilemma between them about not wanting to be together because Rio didn't have his memories and they weren't sure if they should be together because once he regained them, they'll have to separate, so it was great to see them get past that and the own barriers they made and truly let themselves free from their burdens and just love one another sincerely. I liked Rio's past and I liked his relationship with Silvio throughout the story. Emidio was a classic boring villain and I'd say the weakest part of this route was the ending but I still enjoyed it nevertheless because Rio's story was engaging, and it was fun and sweet to see both Rio and the heroine try so hard for each other and fight to be together by living to social expectations since the heroine was capable in her own right and strong enough to not shy away from it all. I thought their relationship was cute and supportive and I love how they both express their love for each other very honestly because it's actually quite refreshing and nice!
I have to admit, I really liked the Silvio parts of the route, especially the dramatic end where he has Emma tied up in blinged out chains. I also liked to think that Silvio was waiting for Emma in the box for a while, and out of pity for him, Gilbert made a point to find Emma and give her a 'gentle' shove to freeing Silvio.
But, one of the parts that I really, really liked was in the dramatic end, where Emma and Rio meet up just after her kidnapping, and Rio is acting all different from usual. Then I went 'Oh, crap, this isn't Rio anymore, this is Valerio.'
I agree, Emidio was not the strongest part of the route, but I'm happy they had a villain that wasn't Silvio. I liked the red herrings they through out that kept on pointing to him being behind all the attempts on Rio's life.
I did like the part where Emidio was introduced, and they all waited with baited breath for Chevalier to bestow upon him a nickname. A rather uninspired nickname.
If you trust me to know what I'm doing, then we have both made a huge mistake. I cannot guarantee accuracy for this fan translation, or even grammatical correctness.

In the neutral country of Jade, there was a useless prince with boundless kindness.
~Flashback~
Keith:
"I'm not the kind of person you should worry about. I can't do anything, and I do terrible things without hesitation."
Keith:
"Yet, here I am, still smiling."
Keith:
"So you shouldn't get involved with me."
Alter!Keith:
"Your words can be both poison and medicine to him."
Alter!Keith:
"Emma, please kill the useless one."
~Flashback~
The cruel tragedy that struck him birthed an "alternate personality" and turned him into a beast. Haunted by the past, fearing an uncontrollable self, he continued to wish for a living death. The one who brought forth the heart of the beast sinking into the abyss was the only one with the most beautiful heart in Rhodolite—her.
Emma:
"…It seems that when it comes to Keith, I become desperate to the point of not seeing anything around me."
Emma:
"When I think I don't want to lose Keith, I can't think about anything else…"
Emma:
"He's so important to me that I would do anything to not lose him."
She accepted the two personalities, and true love kept both beasts alive.
Keith:
"I can't give you normal love. Still, I don't want to let go of your hand. I only want to love you."
Emma:
"……………Then, please love me a lot."
Emma:
"I will love both sides of Keith with all my heart!"
To make the flower called "happiness" bloom throughout the country, the prince with boundless kindness will protect the country's future.
As time passes, the love between the three deepens.
However, it remains a distorted and abnormal love.
The more happiness they have, the more the balance of their hearts, which seemed stable, secretly tilted.
~Timeshift~
Keith:
"…"
The pounding rain soaked him completely and chilled him to the core. The golden eyes peeking through heavy bangs quietly gaze at the person who has been carelessly discarded.
A familiar-shaped ring was fitted on his ring finger.
Kagari:
"Keith."
The man with fiery red hair, who appeared silently, followed Keith's gaze.
Kagari:
"Have you lost something important again?"
Kagari:
"Or is this your first time?"
~Timeshift~
Liam:
"Ah…"
Keith:
"She's fast asleep, so it's okay."
Keith:
"Thank you for the documents. Just leave them there."
Liam quietly closed the room door and placed the documents on the table in front of the sofa where Keith and the other person were sitting.
Naturally, his gaze fell on Emma, who was comfortably sleeping with her head resting on Keith's shoulder. The book on her lap was open, filled with densely written words.
Liam:
"Are you studying the history of various countries after practicing archery? As always, Lady Emma is powerful."
Keith:
"She’s cute, isn’t she?"
Liam:
"Eh? Yes, I guess so...?"
Liam:
"I sometimes worry if I'm speaking the same language as you, Keith."
Suddenly showered with affection, Liam looked around the room in astonishment.
—Wanting a room with Emma, he decided to expand.
This spacious room was born from that sentiment
With large windows that let in plenty of sunlight, a large bookshelf that the two book lovers were quite satisfied with, decorative plants that offer healing, and a fluffy sofa with adorable, differently colored deer-pattern cushions.
Although not much time had passed, the room was steadily being filled in by the two—no, the three of them.
Liam:
"That's right, she started seriously learning archery after coming to Jade, didn’t she?"
Keith:
"Yeah. I haven't heard the reason, but she told me she wanted to learn after the tea party with my sister (Mireille)."
Liam:
"It might be because Prince Keith’s mother and Lady Mireille are known archers."
Keith:
"Also, maybe she just genuinely wanted to learn a way to protect herself."
Keith:
"…Emma wants to protect things together rather than just be protected."
Liam:
"Truly powerful indeed."
Keith:
"Oh, today's practice was amazing! She hit the target's center in a row, and even when she missed, it was only a few millimeters off."
Keith:
"I'm just so happy to see her results reflecting her effort, it feels like my own achievement."
Liam:
"That's a delightful thing, but your excitement is making your voice louder."
With his index finger raised in front of his mouth, Liam indicated for Keith to be quiet, and Keith hurriedly covered his mouth, wanting to say that he had made a mistake.
Perhaps because she had entered a deep sleep, Emma still wore a peaceful expression on her face.
Keith:
"After she asked me to teach her archery, I was quite happy."
Keith:
"After all, I want to be asked a lot of things by the person I love."
Keith:
"I need to properly thank my mother for patiently guiding me when I was a clumsy child."
Liam:
"Speaking of your mother, I’ve heard that sometimes during their couple fights, arrows would fly from the king's room."
Keith:
"Ah… She was generally easygoing and rarely got angry."
Keith:
"But without discussion, the king would counter with a sword, so it always escalated. He always ended up being the one to back down."
Liam:
"That's the weakness that comes with being in love."
Liam:
"I saw that you also showed off by hitting the target multiple times, taking advantage of Lady Emma's request."
Keith lightly cleared his throat, diverting his gaze.
Keith:
"I think… what I did was very immature."
Keith:
"But the way Emma was so excited at that time was so cute that I’d want to capture it in a painting."
Liam:
"…Are you bragging again?"
Emma:
"Mmm…"
Keith and Liam:
"!"
The two instantly closed their mouths at the faint sound they heard.
Emma shifted and snuggled even closer against Keith.
Emma:
“...Keith.”
Keith:
“...!”
The name that spilled from her lips made his large body shiver faintly with joy.
As if to say "Did you hear that?", Keith shot a glance at Liam.
Liam:
“Please don’t look this way. Also, you look rather foolish with that face.”
Keith:
“S-sorry, but Emma said my name in her sleep.”
Keith:
“Maybe, even in her dreams, I'm right next to her, just like this…”
Keith:
“...No, I can’t go back now. It seems I’m going to be grinning all day.”
Liam:
“How pitiful…”
His large hand enveloped her delicate one, intertwining their fingers. Keith gently tilted his head toward Emma, savoring the happiness. The comforting silence filled the room along with the warm breeze coming through the window.
Although incredulous, Liam smiled at the sight of the two.
Liam:
“It’s a well-known fact that the future king and queen are affectionate with each other. They are called the healing couple.”
Liam:
“Their efforts to improve the country are met with great trust from the citizens.”
Keith:
“Healing couple... I feel a bit embarrassed to be called that.”
After smiling gently, Keith looked down as if reminiscing about distant days.
Keith:
“Being a person who has never been able to believe in myself, I was very anxious and feared trusting others.”
Keith:
“But now it’s different. For the better future of the country and for peace, I want to look forward and respond to this belief.”
Liam:
“You’ve changed.”
Keith:
“It’s because Emma has accepted this ‘me’ straight on.”
Liam:
“That ‘me’ doesn’t seem to improve much, though.”
Keith:
“Ah... I’m glad she’s sleeping.”
Keith:
“...”
Once again, silence returned.
However, this time it bore a hint of sadness... Realizing what that meant, Liam furrowed his brows.
Keith:
“Sorry for worrying you. I want to correct the habit of it showing on my face.”
Liam:
“Has it gotten worse?”
Keith:
“Just a little. The time has lengthened.”
Liam:
“About that…”
Keith:
“It seems like there’s no problem for now. Maybe...”
Liam:
“If only I could understand the reason…”
Keith:
“...”
Liam:
“Prince Keith?”
Keith:
“No, it’s nothing. I should refrain from speculating."
Keith:
“Right. About today’s scheduled diplomatic meeting, I want you to come along.”
Liam:
“Of course. I have no reason to refuse.”
Keith:
“Thank you. I know I can rely on you.”
Keith:
“...I still wish that you wouldn’t notice, but that hasn’t changed since the old days.”
He gently tightened his grip on their intertwined hands. In his golden eyes, filled with affection, there flickered a hint of hesitation.
(This is...?)
On one afternoon—
The greenhouse that I entered escorted by Prince Keith was filled with a sweet aroma different from that of floral nectar.
Steam rose from the cups of tea on the table, which was crowded with flower-shaped cakes and baked goods.
(I didn’t think we had made plans for a tea party...)
Looking up at Keith with a questioning expression, he returned my gaze with a serene expression.
Keith:
“I heard it from the head of the royal pharmacy (Yuel), and I couldn’t stay still.”
(Yuel... ah)
Keith:
“Congratulations on passing the herbalist promotion exam.”
Emma:
“Thank you!”
Emma:
“I just received the acceptance letter a moment ago, so I was surprised.”
Keith:
“I found out last night.”
(What a surprise! And yet, he prepared such a wonderful celebration...)
As my lips curled into a smile, Keith’s eyes softened too, and warmth filled my chest even more.
(The trigger was seeing Prince Keith talk vibrantly about the plants...)
(With my desire to “be of help” added to that, I got the chance to be recognized for my growth.)
(Along with learning lessons as a queen, I want to continue studying as an herbalist and absorb knowledge,)
(I want to become someone who supports the country.)
Noticing that Prince Keith’s expression had turned thoughtful, I tilted my head.
Keith:
“The celebration isn’t enough.”
Emma:
“!? That’s not true. If anything, I’ve received more than enough!”
Keith:
“If that’s the case—... no, wait.”
(It feels like his eyes are saying "I won't concede.")
I always think that the reasons for Prince Keith's stubbornness are made up of kindness and cuteness.
(If the celebration isn’t enough...)
Emma:
“Well then, may I make a request?”
Keith:
“Of course! Please say anything.”
Which option will you choose?
Point to your own cheek.
Open your arms wide.
Indicate the cake you want to eat.
Emma:
“Keith, I want to eat this tart first.”
I pointed to the plate with a tart topped with juicy fruits.
Keith nodded and seated me in a chair, then served the tart onto a separate plate as I requested...
Keith:
"Here you go, Emma. Open your mouth?"
Emma:
“Huh...?”
Keith:
“Eh...?”
Keith:
“Oh... Did I make a huge mistake...?”
(When you cant even just let them eat cake)
Emma:
“No, it's just as I requested. I’ll eat it!”
I took the bite-sized tart he offered and popped it into my mouth.
Keith smiled as brightly as a blooming flower and cheerfully began to cut a second piece.
(What I really wanted to request was for him to serve the cake... but somehow, I feel like I’m gaining so much.)
I silently expressed my gratitude to Keith.
More than the sweet and sour fruitiness and the crispy texture, the smile of my beloved made me happy.
After thoroughly enjoying the celebratory tea party, I strolled through the greenhouse with Keith, admiring the colorful flowers.
As the time for public duties approached, a sense of sadness welled up at the thought of parting again, when I was suddenly called by name.
Looking up, I met Keith’s gaze, which was serious this time.
His face belonged not to my fiancé, but rather to the next king bearing the weight of the nation...
Keith:
"Actually, Kagari-san..."
Keith:
"I received an invitation to a friendship meeting from Prince Kagari Amagase of the Kougyoku (Ruby) Kingdom."
Emma:
"At this time of year?"
Keith:
"Yes, and that’s why I have many concerns about it."
A short while ago—
Information of significant importance had reached Jade that the three countries of Tanzanite, Achroite, and Kougyoku had formed an alliance, potentially disrupting the balance of power on the continent.
The three countries weren't historically close, nor was there any record of significant interaction between them.
The reason for forming the alliance is unclear, with no clues as to why this would happen.
Receiving an invitation to a friendship meeting from Ruby during such a time must mean there’s some ulterior motive.
Keith:
"They say Kougyoku is a country where civil war never ceases,"
Keith:
"and currently, three factions are vying for national unification."
Emma:
"There are figures among the factions who claim to be king, right?"
Keith:
"Yes. It seems that anyone with power, regardless of status, can claim to be one."
Keith:
"And as a unique feature not found in other countries, each faction has various nations supporting them."
Keith:
"Since Jade has a long history and friendly relations with Ruby, we are supporting the nation, not the factions."
(So, the middle island)
(The complicated state of affairs of the countries makes my head spin the more I learn.)
Emma:
"Which faction has formed the alliance...?”
Keith shook his head in distress.
Keith:
“Since multiple factions exist, I thought I would hear some information flowing in... but it seems to be difficult.”
Keith:
“That’s why the invitation from Kagari is so valuable.”
Emma:
“And Kagari ‘san’?”
(I noticed he corrected himself just now, but could it be...?)
Keith:
“I’m friends with Kagari.”
Emma:
“I see...!”
Learning about Keith’s friendships at such an unexpected moment made me lean forward in interest.
(I shouldn’t get carried away. I want to ask so many things, but I have to hold back for now.)
Keith:
“Kagari has originally been part of the royal camp and has achieved numerous victories in battles.”
Keith:
“He is feared and called ‘Yasha’ for his unmatched strength...”
Keith:
“However, he seems to have defected from the royal family and is now building his own camp in a different faction.”
(That’s why the invitation came from Prince Kagari, the second prince, instead of the first.)
Keith:
“Both the three-country alliance and Kagari’s current actions are honestly wrapped in mystery.”
Keith:
“Which faction formed the alliance, and what is its purpose?”
Keith:
“And the reason why Kagari, who has defected from the royal family, sent the invitation...”
Keith:
“I’ve decided to participate in the friendship meeting as his friend to understand whether Ruby will be a country we should watch out for in the future.”
Keith:
“So...”
Before Keith could finish his words, I opened my mouth.
Emma:
“May I come with you?”
(I know I can’t be much help. Still, I want to face issues that affect the future of the country.)
Keith:
“I want to ‘make this country bloom with the beautiful flower of happiness forever.’”
Keith:
“I promised my brother that long ago... As the future king and as Emma’s lover—”
Keith:
“I want to fulfill that vow together with him, the ‘other side of myself.’”
Emma:
“...Keith, can I also be included in that 'promise'?”
(Because I want to continue making the flowers of happiness bloom in Jade alongside Master Keith.)
After a brief silence, his large hand gently took mine.
Keith:
“Because you are by my side, we ‘can’ overcome any difficulties and hardships.”
Keith:
“...Thank you for saying you want to join.”
Keith:
“Ruby is said to be a country of chaos. We don’t know where the dangers lurk.”
Keith:
“We will protect you, Emma... no matter what.”
His lips touched the back of my hand as if making a vow.
Emma:
“Thank you.”
(I feel the same way as you, Keith.)
I gently stood on my tiptoes and this time, I kissed Master Keith on the cheek.
He turned to me with a smile that seemed to contain all the kindness in the world, warming my heart.
The warmth that flowed between us, the feelings shared, and the words spoken were all genuine and honest.
(But then... I wonder why.)
Keith:
“Emma?”
Emma:
“Oh, I’m sorry. I was staring too much.”
Keith:
“No, I actually welcome that. If anything, I want you to gaze at me even more.”
Keith:
“...Just kidding, that was an incredibly creepy response. P-please pretend you didn’t hear that.”
Emma:
“That’s unfortunate... I was planning to take advantage of those words and keep staring at you a little longer, Keith.”
Keith:
“Ah, I really want you to keep looking at me.”
His immediate response made me smile involuntarily.
(This isn’t the first time.)
(I wonder when I started looking at him like this?)
The faint dark hue that flickered in his golden eyes brought back the lingering anxiety in my heart.
Gilbert von Obsidian - An Unforgettable Day for You - 2nd Birthday - Event Summary
Do I ever know what I’m doing? You shouldn’t trust me, or my suspect understanding of what’s going on in my daily life, much less in Gilbert’s world.
Accuracy is not guaranteed - you should definitely pick up this event when it reaches the English server.
This event is set post Gilbert's route - so fair warning for spoilers.
Today was Emma’s Birthday, so there was no way Gilbert didn’t have a shenanigan planned and the day started with Gilbert inviting Emma to his room and wishing her a happy birthday. And immediately locking the door behind her.
Gilbert’s room has a special lock, where if you don’t have the right key, you can't get in or out of the room. However, despite being trapped, Emma is not worried.
Gilbert was prepared to celebrate Emma’s birthday and had already decorated his room. There are black streamers, a banner with black letters spelling out ‘Happy Birthday’, and a cake in the shape of a book on Gilbert’s worktable. Unexpectedly, there are bright red roses accenting the room, which are known to be difficult to acquire in Obsidian. Emma thinks that these might be artificial flowers.
Next to the cake is a new black dress that shows the signs of Gilbert’s handiwork.
Emma asks if he did all of this, and Gilbert agrees, he’s not so magnanimous to let other people celebrate Emma’s birthday too. Emma admires the decorations – from the way Gilbert speaks, everything was personally hand-made by Gilbert himself.
With a sweet and soft smile, Gilbert points out that this isn’t even her main birthday present. He proffers his wrist, which has a handcuff dangling from it, one side connected to him.
Emma asks what he thinks he’s doing, and Gilbert sweetly asks if she has never seen handcuffs before. Emma assures him that she has and is wondering what he’s doing with them.
Gilbert reminds Emma that it is her birthday today. Isn’t this a great present, she’ll always be with him today. After a long silence, Gilbert laughs and asks if Emma is speechless from joy. This was a great birthday present in the end.
Emma was more than half-prepared to be locked up in Gilbert’s room for the day, but the handcuffs were throwing her for a loop. It doesn’t seem to be one of those trick handcuffs, so she will need a key if she ever wants to be released.
After an even longer silence, Gilbert asks if she doesn’t like his birthday present after all. Emma asks if Gilbert is saying that he needs to be handcuffed to her to stay with her.
Not at all, Gilbert just thought she would enjoy it more if they were more physically connected to each other, instead of just symbolically.
Well, agreeing to Gilbert’s offer would mean that they couldn’t be more than a few feet away from each other all day. However, Emma is curious to see where this goes. Gilbert notes that she has a happy expression.
Oh no, Emma shouldn’t give in and let herself get swept away by Gilbert’s random needs. However, Gilbert had a different-than-usual way of loving someone, and this is one of his unique expressions. She cuffs the other end of the handcuffs around her wrist.
Gilbert offers to give her one more thing and drops something small and hard into Emma’s hand. It’s a glossy black key, the color of Gilbert’s hair. Gilbert tells her that she can unlock and remove the handcuffs whenever she wants.
Emma grumbles that Gilbert is being mean today. He’s making it so that every moment that the handcuffs are cuffed to her, it’s something that she actively wants.
Well, Emma is in. She might as well spend all day being corrupted by Gilbert. Gilbert promises to corrupt her so much that she’ll be unrecognizable. His smile grows wider when Emma places the key on the table.
Emma changes into the dress Gilbert made for her (apparently while wearing handcuffs). They got ready to eat the book-shaped cake together. Gilbert invites Emma to sit on the special birthday seat, which so happens to be his lap. Afterward, they drink champagne together and chat about meaningless things while Gilbert strokes her hair.
The day comes to an end, and Gilbert sorrowfully looks out the window, mourning that a single day isn’t long enough to celebrate Emma’s birthday. Emma assures him that she’s content, after all, Gilbert gave her so much today.
Gilbert points out that he’s taken away even more from her though, not that he’s planning on giving anything back. Emma thinks he’s talking about her life in Rhodolite, or her future with a decent man. She assures him that she won’t take them back even if he offers. She’d give it all up again in order to stay with Gilbert. Gilbert notes that she loves him enough to even handcuff herself to him, and Emma agrees. Once again, Gilbert kisses her.
Gilbert asks if she thinks he’s done giving her presents today. They have yet to celebrate in the traditional Obsidian style. Gilbert takes one of Emma’s hands into his and when he releases it, a jet-black rose carved out of obsidian is in Emma’s hand. Unlike her Rhodolite roses, a jewel carved into a rose won’t wither and die.
In Obsidian, the land of Military and Ore, it is customary to give jewelry at every anniversary. If a person is particularly loved, their funeral gem display is very luxurious.
But, it would be boring if all Gilbert gave her was a decoration, he wants to make each of their anniversaries special. Gilbert holds her hand, covering the obsidian rose. He raises her hand to his mouth and presses his lips against her fingers, and Emma notes that there is a lingering warmth in them from their last kiss.
When Gilbert lets go, Emma is no longer holding a rose, but a second key, with the Obsidian crest emblazoned on it. Emma asks Gilbert what this key leads to.
Gilbert’s room, of course.
Emma is so surprised; she almost drops the key. While she fumbles for it, Gilbert laughs as if it was the funniest thing he’s ever seen. Gilbert explains that this way, she can visit him whenever she wants.
Emma understands the weight of this gift. Obsidian is also known as the land of deceit and corruption – and Gilbert has just given her unfiltered access to him. The key is a symbol that he trusts her with his own life.
Emma asks if he’s sure, after all, she could enter his room and attack him in his sleep. Gilbert sounds playfully worried and asks if she’s really planning on attacking him in his sleep, and what does she think he’ll do? He then asks if she promises that she’ll come ‘attack’ him in his bed at night. Emma refuses, and Gilbert asks if she’s lying about something so fun. Emma complains about him making fun of her. Gilbert complains about her playing with his heart.
When Gilbert affects a sulky face, Emma kisses him as if to soothe him. She promises to take care of the key. And she admits that she enjoyed this birthday.
Gilbert is happy to hear that Emma enjoyed it and promises to celebrate every birthday of hers with everything he has. Emma asks if that is a promise and reminds him that she plans on living for a very long time. Gilbert knows what he’s promised.
The chain connecting their handcuffs together clinks as they kiss.

Rio Ortiz - I fell in love with you that day – Choose your true love - Event Summary
This is mostly a summary for me - I make no promises on the accuracy of what’s happening. I’m not nearly fluent enough to get half the jokes/innuendo much less accurate plot points.
Emma is floating in a clear blue sky without a single cloud in it. Or is she falling? Just as she wonders that Emma is suddenly plunged into cold water. She struggles to reach the surface as her clothes, waterlogged and heavy, hold her back. Suddenly someone grabs her flailing hand and pulls her out of the water.
Emma takes a choking breath while simultaneously coughing out water, trying to calm down. She mentions that she almost died back there, and hears Rio admit that he was surprised to see her drowning.
Right, Rio saved her. Emma feels herself relax and finally able to calm down.
Still, what is she doing in the Benitoite palace garden? Last she remembered, she was lazing in bed with Rio, enjoying the sun in his room. But what was she doing in the courtyard pool? And why is Rio dressed so formally?
Emma thanks Rio for saving her, explaining that she’s not sure how she wound up in the pool. She apologizes for getting him wet too.
Rio tells Emma that he’s happy that she seems all right, but she seems to be confusing him for someone else. He’s not Rio, he is Valerio. Perhaps this Rio of hers looks similar? Or is she expecting to run into this ‘Rio’, though he’s certain he would remember a name like that.
Rio, or Valerio, removes his jacket and wraps it around Emma’s shoulders.
Emma is confused, what does he mean by this? Is this a weird joke, or maybe the beginning of some game? But looking at his face, Rio . . . well, Valerio looks serious.
(He just doesn't like looking at her with a see-through shirt on)
Instead of Rio’s warm sky-blue eyes, Valerio looks at her with a trace of wariness, like he did when they first met all those years ago.
Emma connects the clues and realizes that somehow she has been shuffled to the past, to a time before Rio lost his memory.
After a long moment, Valerio asks for Emma’s name and the reason why she’s here.
Emma flounders, since this is the past, she should have no reason to be in Benitoite’s palace. If she doesn’t say something fast, she’ll either be kicked out or be locked in jail.
Emma apologizes for her delayed greeting and explains that she was just hired as a new maid. She apologizes for getting lost and confused and falling into the pool. She then formally thanks him for rescuing her.
She bows formally, saying the first lie that comes to her mind. A peak up shows Rio with a hand on his chin, thinking. He admits that he recalls the head maid mentioning a new hire, so he guesses it is her. It’s nice to meet her.
Valerio guesses that on her first day, Emma got lost and doesn’t know where to go? Emma agrees, she was flustered and got mixed up, leading her to slip and fall into the pool. Valerio reassures her that everyone gets lost and makes mistakes, and to not dwel on it. He’ll show her around personally.
Emma is relieved to find out that they were about to hire a new maid, so she was able to make this work. Still, Rio ahead of her, is smiling and has a beautiful demeanor, like a prince in a picture book. But there is not the familiar warmth and intimacy between him, and there is no conveyance of love.
She feels anxious, but more than that, she feels curious about this version of Rio. She wonders if she’ll be able to learn more about him, things that he doesn’t want to show her.
As long as time allows, she wants to stay by this past Rio’s side.
Emma is brought to the head maid, where she is given a uniform to change into, and then is directed to a room further in the palace. She knocks and enters, only to find Rio, surrounded by piles of documents. She realizes this must be past-Rio’s office.
Valerio looks up at her entrance and approaches her. He notes that she must have hurried as her clothes are a little disorganized, and reaches out to adjust her collar. Her heart races at his touch, but she holds herself stiff. Right now, she is a new maid, she doesn’t want to do anything inappropriate.
Moving forward, Emma explains the head maid told her that she would receive her instructions once she arrived here. She asks Valerio to tell her what he wants from her.
As if sensing her nervousness, Valerio smiles at her, and it’s one of Rio’s smiles. The warmth spreads through her allowing her to relax.
Valerio assures her that she doesn’t need to be so nervous, he simply needs an assistant.
It dawns on Emma that she was hired to be Rio – well Valerio’s – exclusive maid.
What luck! She can stay by Rio’s side without drawing any suspicion!
Emma quickly bows and assures Rio – well, Valerio, that she will do her very best to assist him. Valerio remarks that she seems reliable, his smile brighter than the sun reflecting from the ocean.
It dawns on Emma that this might be a problem. It sounds like they were actively looking to hire someone to serve as Valerio’s exclusive maid – it would be a problem if the real candidate showed up. She’s going to need to be extra careful around Rio.
Valerio begins running through the itinerary of the day, he explains that he mostly does paperwork, but there are occasional meetings, and also . . .
As Valerio talks, Emma grows dizzy with his packed schedule. From the way Rio talked about his duties before they met, she presumed he had a lot of leisure time. Apparently his schedule is packed to the minute. She knew he was making a point to carve out time to spend with her, but still . . .
Well, she can at least help this past version of Rio.
Emma spends the day running errands, delivering documents, and preparing tea and sweets for Valerio’s meetings. Towards the end of the day, Valerio compliments her – since this is her first day, he didn’t expect her to be so competent. If he didn’t know any better, he would think that she had spent years working at the palace. Really, she’s one of the most effective assistants he has ever had.
Emma humbly demurs, but inside she is elated. It seems like she was able to help Valerio after all. But judging from Valerio’s response, the better course of action would have been to be more clumsy and less effective, which would have helped her fit in. She might need to reel in her talents a bit in the coming days.
While they walk together, servants and officials passing by all have a kind nod or word for Valerio, and they occasionally stop to exchange amicable words. It is clear to Emma that all of the people who work at the palace really do like Valerio. She knows that he is the King of Benitoite’s favorite child, but this favor he has with everyone really does cement his place as a fairytale prince.
But, there’s an edge to his smile, an empty, loneliness that she barely recognizes. With Rio just a few steps ahead of her, she wants to reach out and hold his hand.
Before she can give in to her base urges, Emma clasps her hands in front of her, restraining herself.
An official approaches Valerio, calling out to him with a friendly-sounding voice. There’s something about the manner that he’s speaking that clues Emma in that he and Valerio might be friends.
And indeed, Valerio’s smile softens, and he and the official begin to have a lively conversation. Emma politely stands aside to give them an illusion of privacy, until –
The official is explaining that he had a famous artist make a depiction of a beagle, Prince Valerio’s emblem. In fact, that’s what he originally wanted to talk about, a good time for Valerio to receive this gift.
Valerio gracefully accepts this gift, but Emma catches the flash of confusion and wariness in his expression. She knows how Valerio wants to avoid having anything tangible, stemming from the trauma of his youth. Back then, his older brothers would constantly steal and destroy his belongings, driving him to the state where he didn’t want to have anything he could grow attached to.
When the official leaves, Rio’s expression has returned to that well-practiced empty smile. He apologizes for making Emma wait, and they continue down the corridor in silence.
Emma knows that this is the past, and there are limits on what she can do, but it is painful to see him suffer. She wishes she could give him a moment of peace, but what can she really do?
Footsteps catch up to them and the owner announces that the rumors really were true.
Oh no. Emma recognizes this voice.
Turning around, she sees him, younger than she recalls, but still easily identifiable with his deep blue hair slicked back. Out of Rio’s older brothers it would have to be him. It would be tough, but she could have handled Silvio. Handling Emidio is a different matter altogether.
Emidio says that he caught a rumor that Valerio was having a maid serve as his personal assistant. He was curious, and it appears this is the type of woman Rio prefers.
Emidio’s dim, cold eyes examine Emma like one would a product for sale. It takes almost everything Emma has to suppress the anger and pretend to be a normal maid. She bows politely and can hear the condescension in Emidio’s laugh that he doesn’t even bother to hide.
Emidio praises Valerio’s taste in women, this one seems to be relatively intelligent. But he can’t believe that she is just a maid, he senses Valerio and this woman have the kind of relationship that he cant speak out loud for fear of ruining her reputation.
Yep, this is Emidio’s form a bullying, by saying this full blast so anyone in the general vicinity can hear his theory.
Valerio steps forward, breaking the direct line of sight between Emidio and Emma. He chides Emidio from making these kinds of accusations when he hasn’t even known this maid for more than 5 minutes.
Emidio retorts that it’s Valerio who’s being rude, after doing all of that and still just living his life . . .
Emma quickly interrupts and tells Valerio that they’re almost late for their next meeting. Valerio is stunned, possibly because he knows there is no meeting, or that he didn’t expect Emma’s words to echo so much.
Maybe she is weirdly loud, but she wont let Emidio say any more hurtful things to Rio on her watch.
Valerio quickly catches on and thanks her for reminding him. He bids Emidio farewell, and they briskly walk away.
Later
Valerio thanks Emma for rescuing him from his brother and assures her that he is very grateful. But, he’s not entirely sure what they’re doing right now.
Cracking an egg into a bowl, Emma explains that she is making him a snack. Hence why they’re in the kitchen.
Okay . . . but why?
Emma takes a break and faces him directly. She reminds him that he’s been busy since this morning, so she wanted to help him relieve his fatigue. And what better way than by making pain perdue?
Valerio thanks her but assures her that he’s not really that tired.
He might be able to fool others, but Emma is always thinking about Rio. And it’s mostly true, he was doing fine for most of the day – until they ran into Emidio.
Emma decides to rephrase her explanation and tells him to think that she just spontaneously wanted to feed him.
Valerio notes that Emma is an amazingly talented maid who is also great at giving him a refreshing pick-me-up. With a wry smile, he rolls up his sleeves and explains that it’s boring just watching her, so he’ll help. Without missing a beat, Emma thanks him and asks for him to whisk some eggs.
Several minutes later . . .
Emma realizes that she forgot how long it took an amnesiac Rio to develop cooking skills, as apparently Valerio has never cooked before.
The cooking table in front of them was dirty with all kinds of ingredients scattered about it. The eggs she had asked Valerio to mix were more or less in the bowl, but the fruit was all in irregular shapes. Even Valerio, unskilled as he is, can't help but notice how amateurish the fruits of his labor look.
Emma offers to swap with him, but Valerio refuses. He knows that she must be thinking that he is so incompetent, he can’t even use a knife, but he is getting the hang of it, so please let him continue. While muttering darkly to himself, Rio continues to cut the fruit.
His picture-perfect prince image was fading away, and Emma was beginning to see the real Valerio, the one she met just after he lost his memories. Cooking together like this is bringing back memories, and she feels nostalgic for her Rio.
Emma slowly and gently reaches out to Valerio and shows him how to position his hand and knife, letting him cut the fruit. Her Rio is way better at cooking than she is, to the point that she never gets to do this with him. It’s nice.
When Valerio successfully cuts the fruit, Emma praises him, accidentally calling him Rio.
Which Valerio picks up on.
Emma immediately apologizes, asking Valerio to forget it all while kicking herself. She got too relaxed around him just because she was a little nostalgic. She pushes forward, now that the ingredients are ready, they can actually start cooking!
While Valerio watches her suspiciously, Emma begins to heat up the frying pan. After she finishes cooking the bread in the eggs, Valerio arranges the fruits and cream on the dish. Emma cheers, the extra super special pain perdue is complete.
As Emma begins to prepare the tea, Valerio cuts in and asks her to prepare two cups. And, if she could get an extra plate and utensils for one more . . .
Huh, maybe Valerio wants to invite someone to join him. She couldn’t think of anyone, but she complied and pulled out a second place setting.
After she finishes setting up, to her surprise, Valerio gestures for her to sit at the second seat. He explains that she’s been working hard too, and it makes sense for them to take a break together.
The concern in Rio’s – well, Valerio’s voice warms her heart, so Emma agrees to join him. Rio serves her a portion of the pain perdue, and they begin to eat it.
Valerio compliments her, she is surprisingly good at making sweets. Emma demurs, thanking him for helping her. Valerio denies this, he was just messing about. But it was fun. Even the weirdly cut fruit looks cute when eaten like this.
Valerio smiles at her, and it’s different from the distant empty smile that she saw all day today. It looks like one of Rio’s genuinely happy smiles. Maybe she was able to give him a moment of peace today.
Thinking that, Emma’s mouth curves into a smile.
After they finish, Emma begins to clean up, planning on brewing another batch of the now-cold tea, but Valerio grabs her hand. He tells her to wait, there’s actually something he wants to ask her.
Who is she?
There was never a new maid coming in as his assistant – Valerio had thought she seemed suspicious and had the head maid go along with her deception and assign her to him.
He was honestly surprised when Emma had performed perfectly as a maid. And he found several suspicious points, foremost the interaction they had with Emidio. She hadn’t shied away form him, and instead seemed like a guard dog ready to bite him.
Besides that, no matter what work he gave her, she pulled it off flawlessly, no matter how ridiculously difficult the assignment had been.
(Seriously, he was assigning her ridiculous duties just to see how far he could go)
And finally, she keeps on calling him ‘Rio’ in an intimate manner. It wasn’t her accidentally thinking of someone else or forgetting his name, she seemed to believe that he was ‘Rio’.
So, who is she?
Valerio’s grip on her hand doesn’t hurt, but it is unwavering and won't let go. She has no choice but to tell him the truth. The whole truth.
Afterward, Valerio asks if she wants to try again. Even if it’s a lie, surely she can come up with something more believable.
Emma argues that everything she just said was absolutely true, Rio – well, future Valerio – is her doting fiancé, and conveys his love for her every moment of the day. She can’t begin to match him for his love.
Of course, she is using this opportunity to show how much she loves this past version of Rio, even if her methods are nowhere near as effective. She gently wraps her hands around Valerio’s and gazes into his eyes.
She knows his life is hard, full of worrying and suffering, and he’s not at the point where he can have things important to him yet. Even after deciding to cherish her, Rio has suffered time and time again. But he’s also the happiest he has ever been in the future. She wants Valerio to keep hoping that he has something that is worth cherishing coming in the future for him.
Valerio looks surprised, his eyes wavering like a lost child. He admits that he can’t necessarily prove that she is lying or not.
Maybe he is a little jealous of the future him who has something worth cherishing.
Emma’s vision turns white, and she can’t even reach out to Valerio and his forlorn smile that burns into her mind.
When Emma opens her eyes, she’s next to Rio, his face sleeping right next to her. She can hear the sounds of waves crashing against the ocean, and the sights, smells, and sounds bring her a sense of security.
She just had the weirdest dream, like she was talking to some sort of past version of Rio. Somewhat confused, she reaches out to stroke Rio’s face.
This wakes up Rio, and he sleepily wishes her a good morning. With a sleepy, blissfully happy expression, he pulls her close to kiss her.
Ah, how much she loves Rio’s smiling face. Her heart fills to overflowing with love and she hugs Rio tightly. He pets her hair and asks if she had a good dream, she seems extra happy this morning.
Emma admits that she did, she met ‘Rio’ in her dreams. Rio notes that it’s the same for him, he must have met her too. Too bad he doesn’t remember his dream.
Rio lowers his eyes, looking depressed, but then he immediately looks up at her, smiling mischievously. He just had the best idea. Maybe if he touches her like this, his memory will come back?
Rio playfully nuzzles against her, his hair tickling Emma’s nose and cheeks. Emma bursts out laughing, complaining that he’s tickling her.
Ohh, so she doesn’t want to be tickled then? Rio stops nuzzling and instead kisses her lips. His lips and hands caress her as if she was something precious, special.
If it was really Rio from the past that she encountered, then Emma has to cherish the moments they spend together. Tomorrow, the day after, and the future beyond that, she wants to love Rio with everything she has.
Emma kisses Rio, pouring all her love into him. She hugged and was hugged in a way that conveyed everything important to both of them.
