I no longer know the exact season or episodes, but there was a time around gen 4 when I got really into the anime for a few months, and I distinctly remember that there was an ongoing Team Rocket subplot/"joke" about how they were constantly broke and were always hungry so they spend a whole arc mostly ignoring Ash and Pikachu and just doing a million different odd jobs just so they could eat, and...

As funny as their shenanigans were, the whole thing always felt... mean, I guess? To make fun of how hungry and broke and desperate they were?

So yeah, Jessie finally not having to worry about food is great, love it for her, especially the fact that Delia can spoil her that way!

So, I recently was re-analyzing the myriad of ways that Pokémon: Best Wishes repurposed elements from the shelved "Team Rocket VS Team Plasma!" two-parter for the later Operation Tempest two-parter. There was recycled animation, recycled scenes and plot elements, and the general setting structure was recycled too (Desert Resort -> Undella Bay, Relic Castle -> Abyssal Temple, Castelia City -> Undella Town). What elements got left (like Team Plasma) out would show up again in the Episode N arc. But I noticed one exception:

At no point did we get Giovanni trying to recruit people into Team Rocket as part of his plan for domination of Unova and then the world. But I recently realized.....yes, we actually did.

It just wasn't in the anime itself.

This was even where we first learned the name "Operation Tempest", in a tweet sent by Giovanni to all would-be recruits, months before he said it aloud in the anime two-parter!
