Now Netflix has stepped aside so his friend can buy it. He publicly used his power to torpedo a private business move and will face no consequences for it.

This is catastrophic. Paramount will turn CNN into a far right propaganda machine like they did with CBS. MAGA now has control of two of the largest entertainment companies in the country to further their agenda.

First off, study movies and other cartoons as much as you can! Figure out what makes them flow, when they cut to another camera angle, what camera angles represent, etc…My number one tip would be to pick your favorite scene from a movie and re-draw it as storyboards. It’ll help you start understanding what the camera’s relationship is to the characters and the story it’s telling. Film language is super important, so it’s crucial that you understand it first and foremost!After that, start practicing drawing quick backgrounds, no more than 30 minutes per drawing. Don’t color them, just block them in with quick perspective grids and geometric shapes. Get used to representing space with basic geometry and learn how to do it quick!And lastly, when it comes to building a portfolio, it’s simple: give yourself a prompt with at least two characters interacting and board out a short sequence; from 40 to 100 panels is usually good. It can be whatever you want; maybe two friends are trying to decide what kind of candy to buy, maybe a parent is trying to sneak past their sleeping child to put presents under the tree (great opportunity for physical comedy), maybe you have a hero and a villain fighting! It can be whatever you want, as long as it’s easy to follow along and short enough to condense it into a small amount of panels. It should basically read like a short story.Additionally, study some boards from professionals to see what kind of quality you should target! Storyboards should always prioritize clearness over pretty drawings. The ideal storyboard is loose, but still solid enough to know what’s going on.The Crofficial Craig of the Creek Crew Crumblr has a couple of posts where they show off some of their boards, which I think are great examples of quick drawings that represent the characters and the acting super well. Again, I recommend watching the episodes while reading the boards at the same time so you can get an idea on how it translates to animation.
