on a different note, i was wondering:
when buying art prints, what size do you prefer?
big (A3)
medium (A4)
small (A5)
gonna be printing some stuff tonight and the source file is A3 but idk if people want prints that big haha. like i do but idk how other people feel
#so convention trends have been steadily creeping towards A5#more folks tend to want quantity of happy images from multiple artists or are strapped for money#when I personally buy something i buy big (A3) and I do sell a fair amount at cons#but on a whole I sell postcard sized things in greater frequency and the amount i sell given the size to print is the better profit margin#my best advice is having a couple big versions so theyre visible from afar at an event to bring people over#but print more stock of the small ones (via @ravenno)
thanks for the advice! that makes sense. im gonna be doing some riso prints (if all goes well lmao) so i might stick with A3 for those and then do smaller, 'normal' prints of the same design

got a 7 (out of 10) on the design bit of the current semester and while that may seem average, i couldn't get above 6.9 previously and i had an absolutely dismal time the past couple of months due to fatigue issues so im taking this as an enormous win. on and up we go
gonna try and do artfight again this year!! idk how many i'll do but it was fun last year so yeah :3 my profile is here

im currently in the process of finally setting up a proper Business and im thinking about products to make and doing research and im running into a problem where i think I'd be good at making like, cute n cosy art like i see a lot of people making bc my style does lend itself to that, however i think if my main outlet for art would be cutesy stuff i would go crazy. bc while i like cute art as much as the next guy, i also have a deep burning Rage inside of me thanks to [gestures at the current political landscape] and if i can't express that rage and discomfort i Will go insane.
which maybe is good bc the cute art market is pretty oversaturated rn so maybe doing Weird art instead would be better. who's to say. i mean i guess you all would say bc you're potential customers. but. you know
the helpless optimism of spring (feat. scrapbooking bits from @/thesunxix on bsky/heliantusannuus on insta)

this is gonna sound so stupid but I've been wanting to dip into comic making for forever bc i love writing and drawing but making comics is So Hard.... BUT i just saw a post from a comic artist who'd written a short story with accompanying illustrations and it hit me that like
yeah you can do that too. you can just mix prose and illustrations without drawing a full comic. i am so stupid. i should have realised this sooner too like i was raised on olivier b. bommel stories which do exactly that so i should have KNOWN but im dumb..... anyway if you see a short story with illustrations from me sometime in the near future then you'll know why
i keep consistently scoring high on theory at school (8.8 on art history!! 8.9 on philosophy!!) and low on the practical classes (6.4 overall booo), which is putting me in a weird place art-wise where im like. should i become an art critic or something. am i better at looking at art than i am at making it? or is it simply bc the theory classes are much more clear-cut and the practical ones are much more open (it's probably that. but also am i missing my calling by not being a video essayist (that's a joke i don't want to be a video essayist))
obviously it's nice when old art gets reblogged again bc it's nice to know even the old stuff is still appreciated but im also always like
where did you find that
