I've read Get A Life, Chloe Brown by @taliahibbert a few months ago, but I'm just posting about it now 🤷‍♀️ I actually got an eARC of the second book first, so I have to admit I read this out of order - but it worked out just fine!📚 Chloe Brown's story was great. Although I don't have her condition, let's just say there are several things I can't do unless I want to end up in a hospital. So, I did connect with her quite a bit. I loved how Red understood her and didn't judge her, and how they kind of grew together and explored their relationship. It's hard, and we all make mistakes, but how we overcome the difficulties is what makes it special ❤ If you have missed out on the Brown Sisters, go and read their stories now! Hiring Mr.Darcy is the first book in the Austen Hunks series by @valeriegbowman . Yes, you've read correctly! This is the author's first contemporary book. 🎩 I really enjoyed this book, I laughed out loud several times, and if we're friends on Goodreads (if not, feel free to add me!) you might have seen my updates as I was reading this book #JeremyForTheWin 🎩 It is a dream of mine to one day go to the Jane Austen Festival in Bath, in Regency attire. Did I love this book? Yes! 🦎 Did I love Seb and Grace? Yes! 🦎 Do I want a version of Seb for me? Yes!🦎 Was Seb a bright, clever scholar but sometimes also a himbo when it came to expressing his feelings to Grace? Also yes! 🦎 Do I still want a version of Sebastian even though he only realizes the truth at the very end? YES! 🦎 Anyone else loved this book? 😍 There's so much missed communication between Grace and Seb(astian), and I usually don't like that, but it worked here. In all seriousness, there were times when I wanted to slap these two and just get them to talk about their feelings, but we wouldn't have a book if they had done that 😂 🦎 These two scholars were so much fun to read. I was in a bit of a reading slump, and this book got me out of it. Grace loves reptiles and amphibians, and Seb loves anthropology. Their relationship is based on love, friendship, and mutual respect - respect for each other, and their fields of study. It made me swoon ❤ 🦎 P.S. About a Rogue is the first book in Caroline Linden's new series, Desperately Seeking Duke. Although our hero used to be a rogue, he no longer is one. He was offered a proposal he can't refuse, but at the same time he doesn't want to be dependent on it. So, off he goes to meet a man in the pottery business, who happens to have two daughters. And everything is agreed to marry the quiet, more "ladylike" daughter. ⚱ But on the wedding day, it's not Clara that he meets at the altar, but her younger sister, Bianca. Everything agreed, and they do marry. Max, our hero, is determined to do his best and make the marriage more than a business deal, and Bianca wants nothing to do with him. ⚱ It was fun to see her give in slowly, without every being pressured or pushed by the hero. I really liked that about Max. He wasn’t imposing, he was simply making himself known. ⚱ I enjoyed the development of their relationship, and their adventures together to get her dad's pottery out in the world. ⚱ There's a bit of mystery in the book, and I have to say I was not expecting what happened to Max's family. Hi everyone! I stopped posting for a while as I wanted to give Black content creators a louder voice, and this is the perfect book to come back! 🏈 I finished it this morning, at 1a.m., and I had these butterflies in my belly, and it just made me feel so in love. 🏈 This was my first book by author @taliahibbert , even though this is the second one of the series - I know, I know, how could I start it out of order??? 🙈 I just loved the premise so much (#FakeRelationship trope anyone?) that I just had to read it. Thank you Avon for giving me this eARC. 🏈 Zanfir is a cinnamon roll hero with sex god skills. Muslim, former rugby player, and with a crush on the bisexual, hot, sexy, amazing PhD student and university teacher Danika Brown - who also has a "I think you'd be a good f*ck buddy" crush on him. But... they are also friends. So when Zan asks Dani for her help, she can't refuse, and also sees it as a perfect opportunity for them to enjoy some sexy time together. 🏈 I loved this book. I loved their relationship, I loved how Dani's work is such a huge part of her life, yet it's not criticized by our hero, I loved how Zan dealt and continues to deal with his mental health issues, and teaches young boys to do the same #NoToxicMasculityAllowed 🏈 And I also loved how real it felt. Would I Lie To The Duke is a book I had a hard time describing how it made me feel, for a very simple reason: I hate liars. [I like the fake relationship trope because both characters are aware and in on it]. And yet, I enjoyed this book quite a bit, with the exception of the moments I was reminded that Jess was lying, because she had several opportunities to tell the truth. 🧼 🧼 I was always disappointed with Jess when she failed to tell Noel the truth. I think he would have understood (as he did in the end) but suffered less if she had been honest. And I believe he would have helped her, if only she had asked. 🧼 🧼 I did like Noel quite a bit, as well as his friends. He was intelligent, business savvy, he cared about his tenants. Yes, he used to be quite a rake, but he never forgot his responsibilities. He admired other smart minds, no matter their gender. And he had a crooked smile, who can resist that? 🧼 🧼 I'm sure that when you read this, you'll think I didn't really enjoy the book, but that's a lie. Even with its problems, I laughed out loud several times as I was reading it, I loved the sexy moments, I really enjoyed a business/inventions background to the story, and I did like at least one of the main characters, which was enough to get me through the book with me cheering for Noel the whole time. 🧼 🧼 For the full review, check out my blog. Negative reviews: yay or nay? ▫️ I used to not write negative reviews here, and save them for Goodreads, blog, etc... but lately I've been thinking it's important to show the reality, which is that not every book we read is going to be something we like. ▫️ That was the case with Say Yes To The Duke. I think I'll probably be one of the few people saying this, but for me this book suffers from the same problem as Julia Quinn's First Comes Scandal. And that problem is... there's almost no plot. The secondary characters have more going on than the main ones. If you're looking for something easy to read, fun, lighthearted, and simple, you've found it. ▫️ It's definitely not a bad book. Eloisa James' writing is great, and Devin and Viola are a great couple with sexy times (the best part of the book) but that's a about it. ▫️ Hopefully you'll enjoy it more than I did. ▫️ For full review, check out my blog - link in bio! ▫️ P.S. “You promised me gold thread.” 👑 If there's a word to represent Grace, it's gold. She's the queen of Covent Garden, covered in gold thread and golden light. The golden she was promised as a child/teenager. 👑 I loved, loved, loved this book. I am not the biggest fan of second chance romances, but this one... what can I say? I knew Ewan couldn't be as bad as everyone pictured him to be, and there was more to the story then the Barenuckle Bastards imagined. 👑 I will admit I shed a tear or two when Ewan talked about his dreams... something that would seem so simple and yet so difficult for him to achieve. I can only imagine the immense loneliness he must have been through. 👑 And Grace. That woman is incredible! She's fierce, she's protective, she's a street fighter, a queen, a businesswoman. She thrived in a place she called home but was not actually from there. She rose through her own hard work, along side her brothers in heart, if not in blood. 👑 The book doesn't have too much going on, simply because the characters fill it so well.
