jennie had technically texted lisa that she was coming over. whether lisa had actually seen the message before the elevator reached her floor was a completely different issue. a tote bag hung from one shoulder, suspiciously overpacked for someone who was supposedly just "dropping by." a hoodie was stuffed beneath one arm, along with a skincare pouch she'd grabbed at the last second. the sight alone made it obvious this wasn't a casual visit.
the familiar hallway felt almost comforting as she made her way toward the apartment she'd visited more times than she could count. before long, she found herself outside the door, lifting a hand to knock, then immediately reaching for her phone.
jennie: open the door.
a second.
jennie: i know you're home.
then another.
jennie: and before you say no, i've already decided i'm sleeping over.
the message sent, she slipped her phone back into her pocket with the confidence of someone who had absolutely no intention of accepting rejection. leaning against the wall beside the door, she glanced down at the tote bag hanging from her shoulder and smiled to herself. it had been one of those days. the kind that left her restless. too wound up to be alone, too stubborn to admit she needed company. fortunately, lisa had always been the exception.
"come on," she muttered under her breath, knocking again. "i brought face masks and emotional baggage. the least you can do is let me in."
