17 - 18 / ??? Jessica Jones screencaps
5 years ago i was a fucking mess & now iâm a fucking mess but at peace with it and with cooler fashion sense
Jessica grinned, admiring her handiwork. Trish fit her clothes perfectly, they were almost the same size. Trish had a habit of stealing her shirts in the mornings. She broke the habit months ago. âYouâll be fine, you went from J Crew to Motley Crew and no one is going to expect that. Look what glasses did for Clark Kent,â
Trish rolled her eyes, walking over to Jess and sitting o the bad, fingers picking at one of the ripped ends of her jeans. She never had the luxury to wear something this casual, and it turned out to be pretty liberating.
âNo one saw Superman up close enough to study his face, Jess.â A sigh, but determination in her voice as she spoke. âAre you ready? Iâm sure the club has filled up already.â
Jess felt a chill run down her spine as Trish walked towards her. She stood and did her best attempt at keeping her cool demeanor. âPerfect, everyone will be wasted then. We should catch up,â Jess headed to the fridge and cracked open a beer. She handed another to Trish.

âYou sure this is going to work? I mean, my face is still my face.â Trish looked at herself in the mirror, a blonde girl in leather jacket and ripped jeans looking back at her. She sighed, picking at the hem of the shirt Jess owned, now wrapping her entirely in her scent. It was not easy, this pretending to be friends only thing, but Trish tried. More for Jessâ sake than her own.
She turned around to look at her best friend plopped back on her own bed. âI swear if one person so much as tries to sing the Patsy song, Iâm kicking your ass.â
Look what glasses did for Clark Kent,â
âAAAAND I would rather my opponents be distracted from pain than distracted by camel toe. I did the world a favour by tossing it out.â
Jessica scratched at the wrapping around the albums. âNothing is as it Seems AND State of Mind.. you blasted these so loud your mom hated them. I do not do air guitar, I was doing.. Yoga.â She opened the first album, placed it in the stereosystem and selected Trishâs favorite track, âThink it Overâ. âMerry Christmas,â
âIt was only a prototype, but you had to be stubborn.â
Trish remained smiling as Jess continued unpacking the CDs, happy that she pulled several contacts in order to get them on such a short notice. Jessicaâs expression was worth almost everything. âYoga. Sure. Youâre a big fan of yoga.â
Once the first beat of the song started playing, a little pink raised to Trishâs cheeks. It seemed like a lifetime ago, when both of them in her room, Trish singing it at the top of her lungs and Jessica throwing pillows at her to shut up. âI think Iâm going to dance. And youâre going to dance with me.â Her hand extended as she stood up.
Trish was making that doe-eyed puppy face at her again. âYouâre the trained dancer, Iâm the one with the rhythm of one of those inflatable dancing men.â As the first few words of the song echoed around the apartment, Jessica recalled the last time Trish blasted the track in her room. Trish didnât just sing along, it was always a full on performance dedicated to her; Years later she hadnât changed. She smirked as Trish sang to her,
â..before you go, you need to know I wonât stand in your way, but I want you to staaay-â Jessica sighed, finished her shot and took Trishâs hand, âBAAAAY BEHHH, Think it OOOOVER- think it OOOver-â
âIâd rather be a warm sandwich than have camel toe in that white number.â
Jessica tore the rest of the paper off and froze. She stared back at Trish. It was both albums from Wave, one of her favourite bands from when Trish and Jessica had started living together. Jessica was still playing old school Green Day, The Sex Pistols, and The Doors- meanwhile Trish had been addicted to various boy bands, and Wave. She played âThink it Overâ so much that Jessica, despite herself- started to like the song. She never told her but whenever Trish was on set, Jess would leave the album on; A soundless trailer made her uneasy. âHOW did you- I forgot about them!â
âHey, donât hate on the costume. It had a lot of potential until you threw it out.â
Trish crossed her legs and kept her eyes on Jessicaâs face, now lit by the color-changing Christmas lights, feeling herself getting happier like she had not been in a long time. They both deserved it, after a year of constant fear, arguments and life-threatening situations. The way Jessâ face lit up as two CDs fell out had nothing to do with the lights though, and Trishâs smile grew a little bit more. âI canât always give you alcohol. It takes out the element of surprise.â She paused. âIt might come as a surprise to you, but I knew you loved them, even back then. I saw you air-guitaring all over my trailer through a window once.
                       Merry Christmas, Jess.â

âYou were ALLERGIC to those! ..CLEARLY, he was trying to kill you,â
âUh huh. Yeah, I appreciated it. Canât say the same thing for him, though, considering you were actually willing to knock him out once or twice.â
âBye Bye Bye,â
Timberwhatsit, the moppy-headed twerp that tried to impress you with his spastic âdancingâ?
âYeah Jess, I remember how big of a fan you were. I actually recall you threatening to shave off his curls if he brought me flowers again.â

Iâm fairly sure Trish has a NâSync poster collection stored somewhere. She met Timberlake once and he taught her choreography to Bye Bye Bye.
Timberwhatsit, the moppy-headed twerp that tried to impress you with his spastic âdancingâ?
âAntlers are intimidating? I can see all the bad guys crapping their pants at the sight of these bendy felt-covered weapons.â Jess kept the antlers on, it seemed to make Trish ridiculously smug and happy. âI told you I donât need presents from you or anyone- you being safe is enough.â Jessica picked up the box and started to pull apart the wrapping.
Trish reached to the other side of the tree to smack Jess on the upper arm with the back of her hand, smirking a little. âTheyâre still better than a giant sandwich running around, lifting cars.â
Once the lights were set up, she flopped down on the floor next to the other. âBullshit. Itâs Christmas, Jess, of course you need a present. Just open it already.â
âIâd rather be a warm sandwich than have camel toe in that white number.â
