Alice Wellinger is an Austrian based artist/illustrator. Beneath her editorial work she develops her personal art, which is surreal, ironic, dealing with the troubles of daily life and childhood memories.

     Si en un insomnio cualquiera, uno pretende aliviar el desvelo, puede que se le ocurra mirar hacia atrás. Cuántos hechos y desechos se acumulan en cada recoveco de la memoria: amagos de osadía, pasos en falso, desamores y amores, admiraciones y esperpentos, porquerías y chispas de humor. Uno apenas se reconoce en los cruces de sí mismo consigo mismo. Como si se tratara de confusos borradores del azar, de rostros en la niebla, de maletas perdidas.      Y en la balanza octogenaria, el platillo del pasado pesa mucho más que el del futuro. Pasó mucho y queda poco. No cabe duda de que algo se ha aprendido, por ejemplo a asumir el dolor: el físico, que puede ser curable, y el otro, que se prende en el alma para siempre.      El ayer transcurre sobre el friego, sobre el mar, sobre la tierra. Nada puede borrarlo, porque es hálito, destino. No hay más remedio que meterlo en la bolsa, y cómo pesa.      El presente es apenas una línea divisoria, una frontera que de poco sirve. Uno la pisa y la pasa, y el avaro futuro nos recibe con su abrazo implacable.

In the blackness of these man-built caves he brings a flash of light by moving around giant sheets of colored paper in his project Bronson Caves, to record what Bischoff refers to as “voluminous, glowing colors”  that are “emerging from the mouth of the cave, dancing about the canyon, and bubbling up from the ground”. To do this he had to jig about with the sheets in front of the camera—in this regard Bischoff notes that the project becomes a performative piece as well as sculptural.
