THE LIBRARY SEEMED QUIET AND EMPTY that early afternoon. Junseo had a moment to spare after walking the dogs that morning and dropping them off with their owners. He suggested to himself that he would look at a few art books around the city and after briefly stepping into a couple of art shops and bookstores, he ended up at a local library. He wanted to study different lines and styles, not just the same strokes he was used to. If he could, they would improve his art - his inking. If he learned something, it would easily shelve well into his capabilities as a tattooist to study the shading and definitions and what better example was an art book?
He looked up and down the aisles, searching for the section, having been directed by the librarian earlier. At the end of the aisle, he notices a more petite girl with her attention glued to something. She looked familiar, but he said nothing. Were his eyes fooling him? He opted to moving closer.
{&&} There were two things she was sure of: one, she shouldn’t have gone to the library today, and two, she was still very much hungover. As she entered the empty library that afternoon she immediately felt uneasy, a stark contrast from the usual calmness she felt from being in the library. She usually spent her afternoons off here, brushing up on her English and reading books about the history of dance. Though she wasn’t too interested in the idea of going to school to earn a degree, she had no money or time to invest in, she still believed in educating herself about the topics she did care about. Jihye had been in this library so often, she pretty much knew where most things were but today was different. She had trouble focusing so much so that even the quietness of the library couldn’t keep her head from aching.
As she made her way down a random aisle, she paused to look out a nearby window, trying to recollect her thoughts. It wasn’t until she felt someone else’s presence that she was finally able to focus, she turned around to see a male approaching her. As he got closer she immediately realized who he was. He was someone who saw her quite often on the weekends, the male was a bartender at a club she frequently went to. She had to admit it was quite embarrassing seeing him outside of the traditional club setting, after all he was someone who saw her leave with a different man pretty much every weekend. “This was the last place I expected to see you.”
