Galactic & Going Rogue | Star Wars & Andor-inspired TTRPGs | Kickstarter live NOW!
There is a beating heart at the center of the galaxy. You are the brave who hear it. As members of The Liberation, you have dedicated your lives to the war against The Mandate, on the dream that one day the stars might shine free of its fascist rule. You are rebels, soldiers, spies, and criminals, or perhaps someone who simply picked up and blaster and said "enough is enough." Whoever you are, The Liberation has a place for you—and so do we.
In Galactic & Going Rogue, two beloved TTPRGs of rebellion in space are finally coming to print in a new third edition, with both games now bound together in one fully illustrated, full-color 5.5"x8.5" hardcover with all new art and layout. Whether you're the charming heroes of Galactic, inspired by the classic Star Wars trilogies, or the tragic martyrs of the Rogue One and Andor-inspired Going Rogue, these games have everything you need to tell your story of resistance, relationship, and galaxy-spanning adventure.
Best of all? No GM required.
Just gather your party of 2-6 players, and let the Pillars in Riley Rethal's Galactic shape your story of rebellion. Is The Liberation of your campaign more interested in retaliatory violence and ideological discourse, or imagination of a better world and working together? Does The Space Between—that mystical energy which binds the galaxy together—pull you towards intense bonds and uncontainable emotions, or unity with those who came before? Will any of that be enough to save you when The Mandate opts to put someone in immediate danger, or a player has The Scum & Villainy invite a betrayal? You'll have to play to find out.
Does your party want to explore the darker, more difficult moments of revolution? Then flip to Jess Levine's Going Rogue, winner of CRIT Awards 2023 Best GMless Game of the Year. In your galaxy, do Liberation spies in The Intelligence want reduced oversight and leverage over Liberation members, or are they content to bear the heaviest burdens so others don’t have to as they hunt for the heads of Mandate officials? What do they do when The Parliament governing The Liberation desires lengthy deliberation and safety from retribution for the innocent? Decide quickly, because fate is calling. The gravity of The Sacrifice pulls every game of Going Rogue towards one inevitable end. You know from beginning that your characters will give their lives in a selfless act that moves the galaxy closer to freedom, but why would your band of cynics, loners, and misfits grow into people who would sacrifice everything in pursuit of a dream? That's a question only you can answer.
Also featuring actual plays with:

exciting news: my new game design podcast is starting on march 16th (that's my BIRTHDAY)!! it's hosted by me & fellow game designer jess levine & we're having a bunch of cool guests on to talk about that moment where you're watching something & you're like oh.... this should be a game..!
our first triple-feature involves seven different guests helping us design games inspired by three different movies about PEOPLE HAVING PROBLEMS IN SPACE 🚀
if you're interested in game design or adaptive media or you're just also someone who filters 99% of your life experiences through TTRPGs, go ahead n subscribe to the feed in your favourite podcatcher!! the first episode in our series about gravity (2013) will be delivered straight to you when it comes out on monday. we've recorded some bangerrr conversations & i'm really really excited for people to listen & start talkin games with us
or like there's a level of abstraction that's akin to dream logic. there are puzzles that aren't really puzzles but just represent the idea of a puzzle being there. there is combat without any sense of skill or strategy, the difficulty numbers are just a test of enduring the same thing for longer. there are hundreds of quests of shapeless nothing, nakedly directing you to fetch or clear or kill.
it's seeing someone you know in a dream when they don't look like themselves. it's playing the video games they play on a nickelodeon sitcom in the 2000s. it's nonsense

The Vatican Stole the Menorah and We're Going to Steal it Back: A dreidel-powered heist TTRPG!
We all know it’s true. After the fall of Rome—the very same Rome that destroyed the Second Temple and carted off the massive seven-armed menorah—the temple menorah didn’t really disappear. It passed from empire to empire until finally landing in the ultimate megadungeon: the Vatican Secret Archives, an eighty-five kilometer multi-layer bunker under Vatican City. They stole the menorah.
You’re going to steal it back.
TVSTMAWGTSIB, available now on itch.io just in time for Jewsh Christmas, is a silly, dreidel-powered, trifold pamphlet heist TTRPG about reclaiming the Temple menorah from the Vatican. It can be played in 1-2 hours with anywhere from 2 to too many people, a few dreidels (or d4s), eight candles (or eight of anything), and faith (or equally Jewish skepticism) in The Almighty One. It has a rotating dreidelmensch (or "DM") where players takes turns setting up problems and working to overcome them during each "night" of play. It's built for one-shot play with no prep required. See the screenshots for some sample mechanics.
Also, if we raise $613 in sales via this Itchfunder by January 1st 2026, we'll do a print run of the trifold! Pick up a copy of this no-prep TTRPG and perfect party game for your Jewish Christmas and/or goyish New Year party ASAP!
Update: We hit $613! Now, if we hit $1000 before end of New Years Day, we'll do an upgraded layout before the print run, and all existing purchasers will get a PDF with the upgraded layout for free!
Now if we can raise $1000 before the end of New Years Day, we'll do an upgraded layout before the print run including a free PDF copy of the upgraded layout for all existing purchasers!
Feel like the lore goes way too deep for you?
Don't worry, The Vatican Stole the Menorah and We're Going to Steal it Back also comes with the Player's Guide for the Perplexed, a whole document dedicated to explaining the joke. Also, I tried to make it fun to read:

For the LAST 4 HOURS of the Galactic & Going Rogue crowdfunder: A DESIGNER AMA! 🙋♀️
With just 4 hours left on the crowdfunder, I wanted to share a designer AMA/Q&A about Going Rogue and the Galactic & Going Rogue crowdfunder that I did on Bluesky! Questions come from a variety of folks, including FIST designer @claymorerpgs, @6fu's Grant Ironicus, and more!
In addition to the answers below, if you want to ask, just reblog this with your question, and I'll try my best to get to it before things wrap up at 9pm ET tonight!
"What would a dice (or other randomizer)-based version look like? Would it be able to achieve your design goals?"
"funnily enough, Galactic & Going Rogue already technically have more dice-based randomization than most Belonging Outside Belonging games.
the Places & NPC Trait tables are designed to allow for random rolls for inspiration (& the box set ships with dice!) but as far as resolution…
i do think randomized success/failure would run counter to the design goals (at least, for me.) so much about Going Rogue is about choosing to fail, choosing to create conflict between PCs & choosing to act out your PC's worst impulses, so that the narrative arc of their growth is satisfying and interesting, and so that that conflict is strong at the very beginning. random resolution doesn't prevent this, but i think does de-emphasize it. fundamentally, imo, GGR aren't about how you solve problems, but how you relate to each other & yourself in the process. random resolution moves that emphasis a bit more onto the "problem solving" aspect than i'd want.
AT THE SAME TIME…i have actually been experimenting with additional randomization for the print edition! specifically, the idea of more random inspiration tables for setting up your world and especially your 'plot structure'
i've yet to decide what if any of it will actually make it into the game, but i DO love randomization and i especially love random-table-inspiration and feel like GR could benefit from more of it, so we'll see!"
"how did you arrive at such a beautiful graphic design style!!"
"combined work of SO many people. illustrator @shoebill.moe, layout designer @oieuoshi.bsky.social, component artist @satelitesnaturales.bsky.social, graphic designer @crislv.bsky.social & i all had input & put our heads together + feedback from satah, riley, and more! what'd that look like?
first came the GGR cover itself, which was just me & @shoebill.moe going back and forth. it was inspired by David's previous going rogue 2e cover, Serj's galactic 2e cover, and cover of Dream Askew/Dream Apart especially! David was also very inspired by Noriyoshi Ohrai's Star Wars posters!
we went back & forth with sketches/drafts/feedback for awhile to hone in (THX DAVID!) then i chose @oieuoshi.bsky.social as layout artist from open applications. i LOVED his layout for his solo game Furrya, it served as a major touchstone! from there i began a style bible & made a Discord gc for the initial visual design team (david, uoshi, and @satelitesnaturales.bsky.social) & uoshi made a fantastic Pinterest with a combo of mostly Star Wars + cyberpunk visual refs, which i highlighted particular ones i liked from!
the style bible i made also included examples of layouts that i really liked and wanted to use as touchstones, AND layouts i didn't like but that would be easy traps to fall into with this aesthetic lol.
the gc became a place to discuss overall stylistic direction & to give & get feedback, but quickly became a bit overwhelming for our artists in terms of design-by-committee, so we broke back out into 1 on 1 chats. i also brought on @crislv.bsky.social to do graphic designer for the crowdfunding page & social media. cris received what became by the end a truly IMMENSE spreadsheet from me of specifications for graphics we needed (THX CRIS) & a team Dropbox folder used by all the artists + leandro (the video editor) which included tons of art from david, uoshi, and luna that cris was then able to both integrate into the crowdfunder graphics & to use as inspiration for her own original graphic design work for the crowdfunder.

i used the Kickstarter pages for ASTROPRISMA by @crescentchimera.bsky.social, Triangle Agency by @hauntedtable.bsky.social, FIST Ultra Edition by question-asker @claymorerpgs.bsky.social, and previous @evilhat.bsky.social crowdfunders graphic designed by @crislv.bsky.social as reference a LOT!
working out the visual design & giving feedback & keeping it consistent & plugging the parts together took quite literally TENS OF THOUSANDS OF WORDS across discord, email, spreadsheet, gdocs, and more!
it was an IMMENSE effort but so so worth it & im SO lucky to have such great artists.
i cannot thank every one of them enough for being creative, flexible, receptive to feedback (often many many rounds, not for a lack of skill but due to me being a type-A art director) and more! truly can't recommend them all enough."
"uhhh ok what's something that surprised you about how people have used Going Rogue in terms of themes, stories, character?"
"i've seen 2 APs run Going Rogue as a comedy which. i truly could NOT have imagined when i made the game lmfao.
it's also fascinating to see the political spectrum of the GR campaigns i've heard of or played. i've come to see Going Rogue as a mirror. the pillar desires are a Rorschach test, in which, consistently, the thoughts & feelings players are having about whatever the current political moment is get very heavily expressed, and can be very different group to group and game to game!
one of the most fascinating things about playing it now vs. when 2e released (which was the first year of the Biden admin) is that seemingly, the players have changed. i am still mostly playing with like, anarchists and communists, but The Parliament pillar immediately gets pegged as the Democrats and hated so much more fervently, it's been REALLY striking, and that surprised me!"
"How did you find so many incredible collaborators for this project?"
"it was a HUGE priority to me to use this opportunity to pay ppl who had been involved w/ G/GR back when they were tiny—im lucky so many were so talented!
11 contributors previously worked on G or GR, or played them in an AP!
8 other contributors, i worked with on other projects!
the rest…
the remaining 8 were a combination of people i was friends with, open applications for 1 single role, or people that i cold-emailed with a prayer (or 2nd degree introduction)
i got 5+ ignored or rejected cold emails! but it was well-worth trying & eventually brought in some AMAZING talent!
i even had 1 contributor i was super excited for end up not being able to work on the project because WtC/Hsbro said it violated their non-compete (real bona fide D&D killer Galactic & Going Rogue. they're shaking in their boots.)"
