This omen of good tidings and happy venoms happened on my birthday, It is also the first drawing in my new sketchbook.

Jen and I went to see the Nick Cave talk/concert this past Friday. The music, as expected, was lovely but I found the Q & A discussion format a tad on the excruciating side, but never the less there were still important lessons to be gleaned and/or steamed.

Inspired by Vancouver's most sensual cartoonist Jason Turner and his delicious 42nd issue of VINEGAR "I Like you Better When You're Crying", I decided to eject some manly eye sweat of my own and in the process noticed a most scientific pattern.

I suppose that the gleamings to be learned are that if a dumpling house runs out of dumplings they might might not merit a dump, although today I think it'll be tacos with a side order of Friday.

It only took two years of trench horror, freezing pipes, melting pipes, exploding pipes and plant killing giant robots digging up our garden, but in the end the city did re-weld out fence and then gave us some sub-par lawn soil. (My broken foot, burning apartment and electrical explosions were due to other unrelated business.)

It takes nerves of steel and thumbs of green to look a slugfest in the eye knowing that only one of you will emerge from the elegance of the melee covered in victory slime.

Locked into a world of uncertainty, economic calamity and moral fluidity it's nice to find a snuggle in the bosom of safety.

A gourmand whose sophistication is surpassed only by his charismatic inability to grow anything other than a you-have-some-dirt-on-your-face moustashe.
