Character Profile: Lunar Girl
Alias: Lunar Girl Real Name: Lyra Zor-L (Earth Name), Lyra (Kryptonian Name) Age: 18 Species: Kryptonian Affiliation: Teen Titans
Physical Appearance
Eyes: Light Blue, often showing intense emotion or powerful focus.
Hair: Long, flowing black hair that often seems to defy gravity during flight or action.
Build: Athletic and strong, reflecting her Kryptonian heritage and active heroics. She experienced a significant growth spurt around her 17th birthday (as noted by Raven in "Date with Destiny").
Costume: Typically a blue, white, and silver suit, perhaps with a stylized crescent moon emblem. Practical for combat but also reflecting her "Lunar" name and love for the moon.
Origin Story
Lyra Zor-L, niece of Kara Zor-L (Power Girl) from an alternate Krypton (or a different branch of the family from the main Kara's lineage), was sent to Earth via an escape pod when she was 16, just two years before her home planet was tragically destroyed. Her pod crash-landed, leading to her discovery by the Teen Titans. Having grown up aware of her heritage and the impending doom, she carried the weight of her world's fate even before her arrival. Her arrival on Earth was a journey of hardship and loneliness, finding solace only when she embraced her powers and joined the Teen Titans.
Personality
Lunar Girl embodies a unique blend of powerful righteousness and a warrior's spirit. Her mindset closely mirrors that of Supergirl from Injustice 2: fiercely protective of those she cares about, with an unwavering (though sometimes naive) belief in justice and doing what's right. She's compassionate but has a low tolerance for injustice, often becoming a Hot-Blooded force when pushed. This conviction makes her capable of delivering a blistering "The Reason You Suck Speech" to villains who cross her ethical lines, as seen with Blackfire.
Coupled with this is a fighting spirit akin to Thor from the MCU: she's confident, boisterous in battle, enjoys the thrill of a good fight, and possesses a somewhat traditional warrior's sense of honor. This often translates into a Smug Super attitude when facing weaker opponents or showcasing her strength. She can be rather straightforward and blunt, particularly when frustrated, leading to Suddenly Shouting outbursts, as when she snapped at Starfire and Beast Boy. Despite her alien origins, she has an Amusing Alien quality, especially when engaging with human culture or expressing her likes and dislikes. She has a subtle Nervous Tic of looking at her friends, perhaps seeking reassurance or checking on their well-being, especially when feeling overwhelmed or uncertain.
She has a deep love for gems, appreciating their beauty and perhaps their perceived inherent power, but harbors an intense fear and hatred for Kryptonite in all its forms, seeing it as a literal agonizing poison. Off-duty, she enjoys the simple pleasure of watching old movies, finding comfort and fascination in Earth's past cinematic history.
Powers & Skills
Kryptonian Physiology: Under Earth's yellow sun, Lunar Girl possesses a wide array of powers.
Super-Strength: Possesses immense physical strength, capable of incredibly feats of power, easily rivaling or surpassing most villains.
Nigh-Invulnerability: Highly resistant to most forms of physical harm, energy blasts, and environmental hazards.
Flight: Can fly at incredible speeds, soaring through the air with grace and power.
Super-Breath: Capable of exhaling powerful gusts of wind.
Ice Breath: Gained this ability as a Puberty Superpower around her 17th birthday, allowing her to freeze targets with a frigid blast.
Eye Beams (Heat Vision): Emits powerful beams of heat from her eyes.
X-Ray Vision: Gained this ability as a Puberty Superpower around her 17th birthday, allowing her to see through solid objects.
Enhanced Senses: Acute hearing, microscopic vision, telescopic vision, etc.
Magic Kiss: As a callback to Superman II, she possesses the ability to erase someone's memory with a powerful kiss, though she uses this rarely and only if truly necessary.
Combat Skills: Highly proficient in melee combat, utilizing her Kryptonian powers alongside Thor-like brawling techniques. She's innovative in battle, capable of using herself as a This Is a Drill during battle to bore through obstacles or enemies, a direct callout to Superman (1978).
Weaknesses & Mental Illness
Achilles' Heel: Her ultimate weakness is Kryptonite, which she fears deeply (Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?).
Green Kryptonite: Causes immediate pain, weakness, and eventually death from prolonged exposure.
Red Kryptonite: Causes her to become gravely sick, manifesting as flu-like symptoms and turning her skin pink with green spots, resembling chickenpox (Sick Episode in "Titan Rising"). She also develops an aversion to certain foods like pizza when inflicted with Red K.
Purple Kryptonite: Drastically alters her mind, making her the complete opposite of her usual personality.
Pink Kryptonite: Causes her to fall violently in love with Cyborg, becoming obsessively possessive. This leads to her being Brainwashed in "Mad Mod (episode)," threatening to disable Cyborg's legs if he leaves, only to be freed by Raven.
White Kryptonite: Splits her into multiple "Emoticlones," each representing a different facet of her personality.
Mother Mae-Eye's Pies: Like the other Titans, she is susceptible to being Brainwashed by Mother Mae-Eye's enchanted pies.
Possible Mental Illness (3 Ways):
Trauma-Related (Complex PTSD/Survivor's Guilt): The immense trauma of losing her home planet, coupled with being one of the last of her kind, could manifest as C-PTSD. She might exhibit hyper-vigilance, difficulty forming attachments (initially), or deeply ingrained survivor's guilt, driving her fierce protectiveness but also making her prone to intense emotional swings when feeling helpless or facing a threat to her new "home" (Earth/Titans).
Alienation/Identity Disorder: As a Kryptonian with god-like powers living among humans, she might struggle with a profound sense of alienation or an identity crisis. This could lead to feelings of isolation, difficulty relating to others' struggles, or an underlying depression concerning her unique status, which she might mask with her Smug Super persona or boisterous confidence. Her Hot-Blooded nature could also be a way to assert her existence and importance.
Intermittent Explosive Disorder (IED) / Severe Impulsivity: Her Hot-Blooded nature and Suddenly Shouting outbursts, particularly the incident where she slapped Beast Boy unconscious, suggest a potential struggle with anger management or severe impulsivity. Under extreme stress, threat to loved ones, or acute frustration, her control over her temper can snap, leading to disproportionate emotional and physical reactions that she may later regret.
Hogwarts House
Gryffindor: Lunar Girl embodies Gryffindor's core traits. Her fierce courage, unwavering determination to fight for justice, chivalrous protectiveness of the innocent, and hot-blooded assertiveness in the face of evil perfectly align with the house's ideals. Her willingness to plunge into danger first, coupled with her strong moral compass, makes her a natural fit for Gryffindor.
Relationships
Robin: Views him with respect as a leader, but her Smug Super and Hot-Blooded tendencies can sometimes clash with his methodical, tactical approach. She values his leadership but isn't afraid to challenge him if she feels his plans are too cautious or compromise their core values.
Raven: Shares a close, understanding bond. Raven was the first to notice Lunar's Puberty Superpower awakening (ice breath, x-ray vision, and height increase). Lunar deeply respects Raven's power and calm, and Raven often helps Lunar through her more chaotic Kryptonite-induced predicaments, such as smashing the Pink Kryptonite.
Starfire: A strong sisterly bond, often sharing an Amusing Alien perspective on Earth customs. While she deeply loves Starfire, Lunar can become exasperated by her and Beast Boy's antics, leading to Suddenly Shouting moments. She fiercely protects Starfire, famously delivering a "The Reason You Suck Speech" to Blackfire.
Cyborg: Good friends, though he's the unfortunate object of her violently obsessive affections under the influence of Pink Kryptonite. She appreciates his tech and ingenuity but often prefers direct, raw power.
Beast Boy: Often the target of her Hot-Blooded outbursts and Suddenly Shouting rants when she's exasperated. Despite this, she cares for him deeply, even if she expresses it through a swift slap that sends him into a tree when he gets out of hand. She finds his animal transformations amusing, and her own Animal Motifs (wolves) make her feel a connection to him.
Terra: Her Sick Episode with Red Kryptonite coincides with Terra's return. Given her Injustice Supergirl mindset, she'd be wary and guarded but ultimately open to the possibility of redemption if Terra truly proves herself, though she wouldn't forget the past easily.
Titans East (Kid Flash): Finds Kid Flash's constant chatter and hyperactivity somewhat annoying but respects his speed and dedication as a hero.
Silkie: Absolute adoration. She treats Silkie like a cherished pet and will fiercely protect him.
Slade: Views him as a truly despicable, irredeemable enemy. No quarter given.
Brother Blood: Sees him as a dangerous manipulator and a major threat to human free will.
Trigon: Fears his immense power and represents the ultimate evil she would stand against.
Madame Rouge, Cinderblock, Plasmus, Overload: Standard villain interactions; she will use her full power to defeat them.
Blackfire: Delivers a scathing "The Reason You Suck Speech" to Blackfire in "Sisters" for her cruelty towards Starfire.
Mad Mod: Finds him infuriatingly campy but dangerous. Was brainwashed by Pink Kryptonite under his influence.
Mumbo: His magic is strange and unpredictable, especially when he turned her into a timber wolf in "Bunny Raven... or ...How to Make A Titananimal Disappear" (fitting her Animal Motifs).
Red X: A source of irritation and frustration; she sees his actions as a waste of potential.
Jinx, Gizmo, Mammoth, See-More, Billy Numerous (H.I.V.E. Five): Regular adversaries. She showed an Oh, Crap! reaction when Jinx brought out Kryptonite, highlighting her deep fear. She once threw Gizmo towards Jinx, and when Starfire looked at her in shock, Lunar yelled her Defensive "What?" just before Mammoth landed a punch with Kryptonite brass knuckles.
Other Humans: Generally kind and protective, especially towards innocents. She's fascinated by human culture, particularly their food, exemplifying Aliens Love Human Food.
Voice Actress Suggestions (Mortal Kombat)
Jennifer Carpenter (Sonya Blade - MK11): Provides a strong, determined, no-nonsense heroic voice with a hint of grit, perfect for Lunar Girl's serious side and leadership presence.
Grey DeLisle (Kitana - MKX/11): Offers a versatile range, capable of regal power, youthful confidence, and underlying warmth, suitable for Lunar Girl's compassionate yet powerful demeanor.
Kari Wahlgren (Mileena, Frost - Various MK games): Known for her wide range, she can deliver both powerful, aggressive lines and moments of vulnerability or playfulness, fitting Lunar Girl's emotional spectrum and "Amusing Alien" moments.
