Humans do not completely know themselves. They have not fully discovered their full potential and development as a person. Understanding one’s self on a deeper level will then allow one to fully grasp his or her potential, which is why it is important to know yourself.  Nowadays, there are many ways to know yourself, and one of them is the 16Personalities. 16Personalities is a platform that is popular online that offers a test about one’s personality that is based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator framework also known as the MBTI. Taking it would really benefit a person’s well-being and growth.
Two years ago, I was intrigued about what MBTI test was. It was popular online, and a lot of people are talking about it. So as a curious person, I searched for it, read about it, and thought, why not try it? After taking the test, the result came out, and it was Adventurer Personality ISFP. While reading the result, I was shocked at how it describes and relates to me. Then now, I am tasked with taking the test again. I was just answering the question truthfully and based on what I really feel. I was surprised and shocked, too, that the result that came out was the same result that I had two years ago, Adventurer Personality ISFP.
As the result says, my personality type is Adventurer ISFP-T, and stated that “Adventurers are flexible and charming, always ready to explore and experience something new. They tend to have open minds, approaching life, new experiences, and people with grounded warmth.” This statement just gives me a gist of my personality and new realizations. Now for a deeper result;
My Energy is 58% Introverted, which means that I prefer fewer, but having deep and meaningful, social interaction with others, and am more drawn to calm environments, which is really true for me. I met a lot of people, but I only have a few close friends, and I’m the type of person who is more on peaceful, therapeutic, and calm places.
For the Mind, I am 57% Observant, which indicates that observant people are pragmatic and down-to-earth. They are focusing on what is happening or is very likely to happen. I, as a person, really think and concentrate on a certain situation about what is happening and what can happen.
As for Nature, it is 54% Feeling, which says that feeling individuals give value to emotional expression and sensitivity. They also place more importance on empathy, social harmony, and cooperation. This is one of the results that I really reflect on and think about because I am not that aware of these kinds of traits, as I was just understanding and paying more attention to the feelings and emotions of others than to myself, putting myself in someone’s shoes.
Next is Tactics, which is 61% Prospecting, says that these individuals are really good at improvising and adapting to opportunities and tend to be flexible nonconformists who value novelty and above stability. This is the trait that I was not entirely aware of and was not expecting because I’m not really good at improvising, but I can somehow able to adapt to opportunities, but not that much. So somehow, this trait is interesting for me to have.
And lastly is the Identity, which has 63% Turbulent. This implies that these individuals are self-conscious and sensitive to stress. They are also tend to feel a sense of urgency in their emotion and be success-driven, perfectionistic, and eager to improve. This trait helps me to fully understand myself. With all of the things that I faced, I was able to understand why I did those, why I chose this, why I act like that, and some other things. Knowing these things made me introduce myself more and my development and growth, and it made me who I am today.
Trying and taking this test was one of the things that made me realize a lot of things. Knowing that for the past two years, I still have the same personality speaks a lot about the fact that there are things and parts of me that did not change after facing a lot of challenges, failures, and successes. But there are also other sides of me that need to be improved, developed, worked on, and explored. And as Bob Dylan says, “I change during the course of a day. I wake and I’m one person, and when I go to sleep I know for certain I’m somebody else.”
Hoping that everyone can take the test and get to know yourself on a deeper level, so you can understand why you are you and go easy on yourself. And maybe you will get your answers to your whys, and maybe one of them is your purpose.
So as the 16 Personalities put it, “ISFPs want to live in a world where they – and everyone else – have the freedom to live as they see fit, without judgment.”
