I was plesantly surprised to find out there exists a black metal band relatively close to where I live, with most of the norwegian scene situated in southern Norway.

With this single being the first material produced by "Der Ingen Ser" it really paints a picture of the bright future ahead for them with how solid this song is.

Blending the typical cromatisism to be found within black metal along with some more melodic parts makes this song accessible for a wider audience making for a pleasant listening experience all things considered. I'll be patiently waiting for more material from this promising startup.

(also i apologize for being late this week, end of school projects are killing me)

As for the experience of sewing itself, it was pretty fun; sitting in my desk chair and eating cookies while watching my hb get jumpscared in FNAF 6 because he insulted the animatronics. I have been planning bigger projects for a while, like a vest which has been hanging in my room for a few months, completely bare. However, there is one simple issue; money.

Being a student, and not having a job for the moment money is pretty obviously the biggest issue with a project like a vest, where from my current designs there will be a total of 18 patches, ranging from 5$ to 25$ in price T-T. (The total price lies around 200$) (R.I.P wallet)

Front of the vest, might remove one or two of the album patches for a simple text based patch i can create myself. Got the "critter corner" in the bottom right lmao.

But then comes the innevitable question; why not DIY? Well i've simply not given that much thought, which in hindsight i probably should, so i will in the coming days! >:)

Scrolling on forums this week has brought me somthing highly interesting. It is crystal clear to see that Nuclear Tomb has taken heavy inspiration from Voivod, and as a massive fan of the tech-thash giants i'm hooked.

Especially on songs like "Dominance & Persecution" it's almost like Voivod dropped new material, this time however with a hint of progressive metal, leaning more into Vektor territory. The high pitched guitar work along with the odd chords akin to what "piggy" was doing in the 80s really makes it sound almost completely authentic to ancient Voivod releases.

However as you probably noticed, there's also a "Death" in the genre section. This being portrayed in their songs through the usual; growled (although generally speaking kind of clean) vocals, the use of odd and sometimes dissonant riffs, (though that might just be a symptom of lingering Voivod), and odd song-structure. This all combines to make a fun take on the 80s thrash legends.

I'm relatively new to noise music, however it appears this album has swept me off my feet like a dashing night to a princess. There's something to be appreciated in that style of music, the raw, primitive almost occult sound.

I knew that listening to the polished riffs and clear song structure from Tsjuder had to come to an end eventually, and this album really convinced me. Personally i feel like black metal as a genre should seperate itself from the other metal genres and especially other forms of music, because the people composing it are often suffering, it only makes sense that the listener should also share the pain in the form of terrible production and intensity (Unpopular opinion i know).

That is what really makes this album as great as it is for me. i have always been a fan of atmospheric music, its almost like a gateway to a different realm, where you almost feel like you're part of whatever tale is being told.

In conclusion a pretty great album all things considered. One of my first experiences with noise and i can say i'm looking forward to more in the future.

Highlights - The World Is Hell, Reduced to Atoms

Once again, clicking the "random band" button on Metal Archives while bored in class has yeilded results. It lead me to find this band and album, which both are interestingly unique.

After listening to the first song "Eyes Hold Black Holes" i was immediately hooked. The groovy rhythm along with the harsh vocals and synth work really well together here. I can definitely say that their usage of electronic instruments across this entire album is what really does it for me (a diehard Windir fan).

The song "Reduced to Atoms" is a wonderful example of this. It really pulls you into a sci-fi atmosphere with the synth piano and guitar, which admittedly does pull at my heartstrings a little due to my love for this kind of music. "The Nothing (That You Are)" is the track that solidifies this album's connection to the melodic in my opinion. The main riff is one of my favorites across the entire album and really harnesses the melodic black metal feel.

In conclusion this is a very solid piece of black metal, treading the same path as Valfar did all those years ago, R.I.P

Highlights - Heralds of Pestilence, Conqured Light

Having only been a black metal fan for around a year, I was both surprised and deeply curious when I saw the words “brutal black” be used when describing this album. Naturally I had to give it a listen, and what I heard surprised me.

I was already preparing myself mentally for something truly “putrid”, in a positive light of course, but it seems my concerns were misplaced. This album still retains a surprising amount of melodicism and atmosphere, most evident in the song “From Under to Below” and in the intro of “Heralds of Pestilence”.

This album reminds me a lot of the earlier material of Anaal Nathrakh and some of the later albums of Immortal before the thrash era. The uncompromising drums paired with the sometimes “soft” and melodic guitars makes this album sound eerily similar to those works.

All in all a pretty enjoyable listening experience and a solid album all around. I’m putting a patch of this one on my vest, that’s for sure.
