Daniel’s eyes went wide with horror at the idea of him leaving a medical emergency rather than helping out. “Oh no, no. That’s not necessary, man. I’ll suffer through my limelight phobia to help someone.” The male said. Although he knew his friend would never let Daniel leave a situation he could assist. Daniel took another sip of his coffee-alcoholic beverage before speaking again. “I mean, we don’t really talk about personal matters that often… She, uh.. I’m sure she has somebody she’s with. I’m not worried about it, Jeremy. Nothing will go on with us.. Er, is going on I mean.” Daniel muttered, trailing off a bit and taking another drink of his beverage. He sighed and mentally wished he never said that. “Uh, well, we are just exercising. It’s good for your health, you know.”

“Good to know.” Jeremy continued teasing him. It was funny watching his friends reaction to him saying that, though; especially because both clearly knew the other wouldn’t actually leave the situation. He took another drink of his while listening to Daniel talk about his nurse. “How do you work together and not talk about personal things?” He wondered, but from what he saw, it was probably because the pair of them was too nervous to do so. “Okay, well, now the question is do you want something to go on between you two?” The man nodded at him saying that exercising was good for their health while putting his drink down. “That’s true, but I don’t go walking with my assistant.”

Harmony knew that her love of seafood probably came from growing up in Atlantic Canada. It was such a big piece of the culture there with there being so many small fishing communities. Now it seemed that seafood always reminded her of home. “The fancy place sounds like a good plan to me. I’m in the mood to treat myself.” Harmony replied as she liked having a nice meal as much as the next person. “Thank you.” She said as she stepped into his car and made herself comfortable.

“Fancy it is.” He said as he held the door and let her get in before closing it and making his way around the car and getting in. He started it before pulling out of the parking lot and heading towards Liberty Hills. “So, are you from around here or just visiting?” He asked as he drove down the streets of Bridgeport. 

Her own gaze flickered over him from his toes and slowly moved up his own body. “Good, you could stand to be disappointed sometimes.” She smirked, teasing him as she leaned closer. He seemed to have a charmed life, if he had been disappointed because she beat him to the punch, she had a moment of satisfaction in beating him. Though his touch soon sent her away from the flirty banter. Why he kept doing this, she didn’t know. His touches were gentle, intimate and not at all what she wanted with a meaningless hookup. It honestly scared her, Celine had allowed herself to get close to someone before and she wasn’t about to do it again. The pain, the humiliation, it had been too much and she never was going to fall for it again. It was safer to keep others at an arm’s length, to only hook up and then leave. But the gesture was at odds with how he acted, with the many girls she knew ended up in his bed. Did he just like messing with her? Celine grew stiffer at the thought. Fuck him. Her breath caught as his finger pad brushed against her cheek and she pulled back a bit. “Relying on a very vague definition of this, that seems like such a lawyer move.” She raised an eyebrow at him, trying to smirk. “But usually when someone uses this in context with sleeping with someone, it is usually a bit more meaningful than what actually happened between us.” Walking into his house again, her gaze moved to his island counter and the memories of what he did to her on those cool surfaces came back to her. “I would have been fine if you hadn’t been stubborn and kidnapped me, I had already called the tow truck and I could have called others to help me.” Celine defended stubbornly with a small smirk as she followed him up the stairs. A hot shower sounded perfect right now.

He let out a quick laugh as she said that and thought about all the times he had been disappointed so with hers, it didn’t effect him as much as she was probably hoping. He wasn’t going to say anything, though, and let her have whatever satisfaction she needed from that. As she pulled away, Jeremy moved his hand and he watched her as she talked. “What can I say? I’m the best at what I do.” He smirked before shrugging. “I think that’s up for interpretation from who hears it and if someone thinks it’s otherwise, fuck ‘em. Thoughts of others don’t get to dictate what any of this is, no matter what actual definition it holds.” The man told her while they walked into his home and towards the living room. “It could’ve been hours before the tow truck actually came. And you didn’t call anyone, did you? You were planning to stick out the storm, that’s still hammering down out there, until it passed, which could be by tomorrow. And I didn’t kidnap you. I didn’t force anything.” Though, he did say he was going to stay there too with her if she didn’t go because he wanted to make sure she was okay. And it was something he would’ve done for anyone, even if she was thinking it was just because of who she was. He led her to the bathroom and smiled. “So, here’s the shower. There should be everything here.” He couldn’t remember if the housekeeper brought the towels up that day, or if she had even been there, but he was hoping so. “And you can help yourself to any of my clothes to borrow so we can dry yours. Do you need anything else?”

 “Thank you! I will take the fact that you remember me making them as a compliment.” She said with  a slightly proud smile. Bridgeport might be a small town, but she was far  from the only bartender in it. “I think I could be making drinks in far worse places, that is for sure.” She said as she got on with her colleagues and her boss was great. “What about you? Do you enjoy your job?”

“As you should.” The younger woman was a great bartender, after all, and seemed like a hard worker. “That’s true. This town seems to have that sense that if it was anywhere else, it wouldn’t be this great.” What would’ve been considered sketchy anywhere else, the town worked hard to prove it wasn’t and there was no where he personally wouldn’t go. “I do. It wasn’t something I thought of doing as a kid, but once I got into it, I don’t think I could be anything else.”

Daniel nodded eagerly in agreement. “Yeah, you and I both hope for that, my friend.” He muttered then lifted his drink to his mouth once again to take another drink. The male was glad his friend understood his lack of wanting to be in the center of attention. However, he wasn’t sure how Jeremy thought that his nurse Bridget liked him. “I really think you maybe need to see an eye doctor, pal.” Daniel teased, shaking his head. “Um, no. But she would never talk about that to her er, boss you know?” The male pointed out. “I mean, it’s obvious she only agreed to walking with me after work cause she don’t want to tell me no.”

“And if anything does, I’ll slip you out the back.” He teased a bit, knowing Daniel wouldn’t want that, but wanted to prove more he knew how the other felt about the whole thing. Jeremy never mind having the attention, though, and would make a distraction for his friend if needed. “Do I? I think my eyesight is just fine.” He sipped on his drink and listened to Daniel talk. “I don’t know. I know when my secretary is seeing someone. You don’t talk to her about your life? You’re with her all day?” Even as he was guarded, there were things his business partner and his secretary knew that a lot of people didn’t. “You guys are going for walks together?”

Harmony sent him a small smile. “Well, in that case it would be my pleasure.” She told him, as she was more than willing to keep him company. It beat going home and spending her evening alone as well. “Well, I have always been a pretty big fan of seafood, if you’re up for it.” Harmony suggested, but she knew that seafood could be hit or miss. “But if not, then we can go wherever you recommend.”

His signature smirk passed his lips at her as she agreed to go get something to eat with him. “Great. And of course. Seafood it is.” He told her and gestured the way to his Porsche. “Now the question is, would you like the fancy place or just a casual seafood place. It’s good, I promise, so we won’t be getting sick.” He knew how a more casual place could look and it took him a while before he went to it, but the restaurant was good and he did enjoy it. Jeremy held the door open of his car for Harmony and smiled. “After you.”

That smirk was dangerous, and Celine was sure that he knew it. She tried to hold herself against it, to stay strong even though the way he leaned closer and smirked at her made her want to close the distance between them. Probably what he wanted. “Hm, and let me guess you were so broken hearted, right?” Celine teased him. “How long did you stay broken hearted before you found someone else to keep you company? Maybe by coffee?” Celine didn’t have a trace of bitterness in her voice, she didn’t care that he was most likely a charming playboy in the least. She was certain that if she had stayed the night, he would have had her find the door pretty soon after. It wasn’t like she had missed much. “You put me on your kitchen counter, I’m not sure that counts as lifti-” Celine had started to argue, but the words died on her tongue as soon as he reached out and brushed her hair behind her ear. He kept doing that! And each time, he made her freeze, he made her tremble with a nervousness and a desire to run from any intimate touch. Why did he keep doing this to her? The gentleness of his thumb against her cheek made her eyes stretch wide as every word evaporated from her mind. She tried to focus. Tried to hear him say he could lift her off her feet again, or that he didn’t want a girl who thought going home with him meant anything. “I - uh- wouldn’t want that either.” Celine finally found her voice, clearing her throat. “There is no this. You really need to brush up on your argument, Mr. Lawyer. I slept with you once and I’m only here now because you stubbornly made me get in your car when you found me broken down.” Her teasing smirk again froze as he brushed his lips against hers. Celine could hear her heartbeat in her throat. And then he was gone. Being left in the car, she took in a shaky deep breath and tried to collect himself by the time he opened her door. Gathering her stuff, she stepped out and nodded. “Honestly, getting dry sounds perfect right now.”

Jeremy continued smirking before he looked down and then back up at the woman. “Disappointed fits better.” He told her honestly. While he kept things as open as possible, there was part of him that liked having someone there in the morning to give him a little illusion that he wasn’t truly alone. “Actually, longer, but I wasn’t actively looking.” Jeremy informed her with a smile. He let out a soft chuckle as he moved her hair from her face and it caused her to stop talking. “I think it does.” He argued and moved his hand down the strand of hair before looking into her eyes. Part of him wondered why she reacted this way when he moved her hair. Maybe she kept people at arms length like he did in her own way. His hand moved down her cheek. “Good.” The lawyer commented before smirking again. “Oh, I think my arguments are pretty well brushed up on. This could be what we have done or me meeting with a client. That’s the good thing about the word is that it’s pretty open. And you’re welcome, by the way, for saving you from being stuck out there in the storm.” He said before he got out and waited for her to exit the car after opening the door for her. “It does.” He agreed before he closed the car door and headed for the door to lead them into the kitchen. “You can use the shower upstairs, if you want. And borrow anything you’d like of mine.” He told her as he put the keys down and moved through his townhouse to go upstairs. 

Daniel laughed at his friend trying to stand up for him as well. “Well, you’re right. Thankfully, it’s not something I’ve had to do before in public…” The male mumbled, feeling grateful for that fact. Despite feeling confident in his doctoring abilities, Daniel hated being the center of attention. He reached for his drink once more and took another sip, enjoying the slightly alcoholic twinge with the coffee flavor. Hearing Jeremy say he noticed Bridget blushing, Daniel shook his head again. “No, man, I think you must have been seeing something else.” The male said, trying to counter what Jeremy said. Daniel chuckled a little before nervously taking another drink of his Irish coffee. “No, I just mean, like she’s got other options. I’m sure she’s probably got a boyfriend anyways.”

“Well, let’s hope that day doesn’t come.” Jeremy raised his glass at that and took a drink. He knew that if something came down to it, Daniel would help someone in need, but he understood not wanting to do it in public. He listened as the doctor said that he was just seeing things and the lawyer raised an eyebrow. “I don’t think so, but maybe.” He said and shrugged. “You never know. Has she talked about seeing someone?”

“I wouldn’t want to inconvenience you.” Harmony replied with a small shake of her head as it wasn’t like they knew each other. It was hard enough for her to accept favors from people she knew, let alone those that she didn’t. “Food would be nice though, to be honest. Is there anything good nearby?”

The man smiled and shook his head. "You would be saving me from spending an evening alone." Jeremy tried assuring her, but it was his idea, after all, and he'd be happy to have the woman's company. "There are several places so it depends what you would like. There's a seafood place, a cafe, Italian, and a diner." He gave a list of options. “Comes down to what you’re in the mood for.”

“Alright, that is good to know.” Verity chuckled back at  him. She wasn’t overly worried, seeing it was a small town, after all and everyone knew everyone at  the end of the day. “Oh right, I am Verity.” She said. “And I am nothing fancy like a lawyer, but I do make one heck of a drink, or so I have been told.” Which likely was due ot her being generous with some of the customers she served.

He chuckled softly. “It’s nice to meet you, Verity.” The man said before nodding at her words. “Oh, I do know that one. I believe you made a few of mine when i was there. You’re definitely good at it.” Jeremy assured her and smiled. “Do you like working there? It definitely seems like a great place to be at. I like the other bar in town, but Nancy’s has that home feel.” It was always a comfortable environment and while he still wore his suits and was his charming self there, he felt a sense of home at the Tavern.

Celine leaned closer across the arm rest separating them. “Oh, sometimes things are just mostly perfect instead of totally perfect? You poor guy.” She teased. Celine knew what his house looked like, she knew he was a lawyer, she’d seen his now two cars, she knew he had money. Plus, he was insanely attractive, and stupidly charming. His life seemed perfect, but there was something about his charm that she didn’t find herself hating him for it. Though, seeing his car for the first time had made Celine panic a little, the idea of sleeping with someone again who had so much and would have a power imbalance over her. But, even in that small moment he’d been so genuinely concerned for her that she knew he was nothing like her boss. Though his genuine intensity did scare her. “Oh, is that so?” She barked out a laugh, finding him pretty cocky to try and demand dinner from her. “Are you sure you aren’t suffering from some delusion? Living some kind of fever dream? Why would I owe you for sneaking out? Do you use that line on all the girls who leave before you wake up?” Celine challenged him, figuring that if he did in fact wake up with a girl, he made sure they quickly found the door. It seemed his ego knew no bounds. Celine laughed and found herself leaning even closer. “Who said you swept me off my feet? I think that ego of yours is getting ahead of you. You haven’t swept me off my feet, Mr. Lieberman.” She could only shake her head and laugh as he pointed out that everything was about him. A cocky ego indeed, but he did it in such a dangerously charming way. Celine grew quiet, smiling softly as Jeremy agreed that Nick was a good guy. It was refreshing, after getting chewed out by her brother like she was only a teenager, to see someone accept her choice to sleep with whoever she wanted. It made the prickly wall of defense come down, seeing him support her choice with no judgement. “Last time I checked, 28 was older than 25.” Celine laughed, tilting her head. “Though, that’s a very random and specific age.” She would have settled for 21 or even 19. “This? There is no this.” Celine leaned closer, her eyes locking with his as the teasing smirk settled on her lips. “Sleeping with you once does not make it a this, and if I’m smart, I won’t sleep with you again.”

He leaned closer towards her as she did to him and shrugged. “What can I say? I’m human.” He continued smirking at Celine, the woman who was just fifteen minutes ago still his mystery girl, but it softened as she laughed. It was a sound he found himself liking. “Because it was quite rude. No note or anything. Just up and left.” The man said and pouted a little before smiling once again. He wasn’t about to tell her that she was one of the few and the first in a long time who had left before the morning. Usually, he would continue his charm and make breakfast in bed for the woman sleeping over and that was his plan with Celine too that night, except he woke and she was no where to be seen. “I think I remember getting you come home with me that night after everything. And then I quite literally picked you up.” He reached out and moved one of her wet strands of hair behind her hear and wiped a drop of water on her cheek away. “But, if you still need to be swept, there’s more I can do.” He promised her and now their faces were even closer than before. A shrug came from him as she said it was a specific age and he smiled. “It goes up as I do. Women of all ages are gorgeous, but I prefer a more mature woman. I don’t want a twenty-one year old who ends up staying the weekend because she thinks this will lead to something more. I like us both knowing that whatever happens is just a hookup.” His eyes widened a little before he laughed and shook his head. “Except there is. The fact that it happened once means there is. It was a this then and it’s a this now.” Jeremy leaned in a little more and brushed his lips along hers. “At least, we’ll see.” He said before pulling back and opening his car door. He rounded the car and opened hers up for her with a smile. “Now, let’s get warmed up. And dry.”

Jamey nodded eagerly in agreement, a huge goofy smile still across his face. “Oh, yeah. My students LOVE my confidence.” He mused and released a small chuckle at his own words. “For sure, my dude. I can write my number on your arm if you want? You can call me anytime. I’ll figure out a time for you, good sir.” Jamey said to him, smirking. “Oh, shit. What kinda car you got? I gotta see it now.” He said, getting excited at the fancy shit the other had. “I mean, you’re doing a good job. Just keep being hot and shit and leaving good tips, you’ll be good, my dude.”

“Hey, it’s a great thing to love.” He certainly found confidence in people attractive. The option to have this boy’s number written on his arm made him laugh and he pulled out his phone. “Or you could just put it in my phone? Save you ink and me the hassle of washing it off later.” Jeremy suggested and got up a new contact before handing it over to Jamey. Maybe it was a bad idea, but he didn’t care. As the younger man asked what kind of car he had, Jeremy pointed towards it and led the way to his Porsche. “There she is.” He said and unlocked it so the man could see it better like most people liked to do. “Well, I can certainly do that.” 

Daniel shook his head but gave his friend a smile. Despite Jeremy’s convincing skills, Daniel did agree to come out for drinks because he did like Jeremy’s company. The two had been best friends for quite some time, and Daniel loved the man like another brother. “I suppose you did go into the right field. My doctoring skills aren’t quite as useful in everyday situations.” He muttered and shrugged, picking his drink up once more and taking a small sip. Daniel swallowed the sip and was grateful he had before the other mentioned him getting close to his nurse. The male was sure he would have spit the drink out if he still had it in his mouth, especially when Jeremy asked if they were hooking up. Daniel’s eyes went wide and he shook his head. “Oh, uh, no. Nah, it’s nothing like that, Jer. It’s strictly professional. I wouldn’t want to get caught up in a lawsuit or something… Y’know?” He said, quickly coming up the excuse for why he had not pursed Bridget. In reality, Daniel figured his nurse didn’t think of him like that. “Besides, I am sure Bridget has plenty of uh, suitors.”

He shook his head. “Don’t sell yourself short. If anyone in this place were to get injured, I’d only be able to help with suing the business or something while you could save a life.” Jeremy said and took another drink. An amuse look came over Jeremy’s face and he nodded as the man stumbled to let out that they were professional. “Hey, it’s only a lawsuit if she doesn’t feel the same say. And I’m sure I saw her blushing quite a few times while you two were sitting there.” The man said before raising his eyebrows. “Suitors? Is this Pride and Prejudice or something?”

That smirk of his was dangerous, but she found herself smirking back. “Knight in second car shining Lexus. Man, life must be rough for you.” She teased, his second car was still much nicer than her only car. It grew soft for a moment as she thanked him, and Celine stilled a moment as she stared at him. He had a nice smile, nicer when it grew soft. But she couldn’t let herself get lost in it. “Good, I mean that you’d do that for anyone. I don’t want to be special, it’s not like we owe each other anything. We just slept together once.” And if she was smart, she’d keep it that one time. But it was too easy to fall into the flirting routine with him. “Oh yeah? I’m a perk, huh? You must be wanting to sweep me off my feet.” Celine had a few thorns pop up as she defended Nick and sleeping with him. Emre had been angry and disgusted, her kissing and sleeping with this man who was almost as old as their father. She didn’t want to hear it from Jeremy either. Why didn’t they get it? Nick was still attractive, and not that it mattered, but he had been good in bed. However, she stilled and softened a little as Jeremy showed her he wasn’t judging and that he was impressed. For a moment she blinked, and then a soft smile flickered across her lips. “Not that I did it to impress you, but thank you. It - he was impressive. And I never slept with someone famous before. But really, it wasn’t for that. He’s a good guy.” Too good, since he handled her brother punching him really well. “I’m 28, but age doesn’t mean anything to me. Clearly.” Celine chuckled softly. Nick was proof of that. Though really, it shouldn’t matter. She was over 18. She was over 21 too. It shouldn’t matter how old someone was that she slept with, she was old enough to make that decision herself. “I don’t know honestly. Emre… doesn’t usually know about who I see. I mean a nine year age gap really isn’t anything. But, he might not like you being his friendly neighbor who seduced his little sister.” She wasn’t sure how Emre would react to Jeremy, he didn’t usually know about her hookups. But, she’d never hooked up this much in Indianapolis, this was new after her boss. Staring at him, she got lost in his gaze, only to shiver suddenly, having lost the heat of his car and the seat now that it was off.

He smirked and shrugged. “Only sometimes.” On the outside, everything about him looked perfect and he knew that. He had the looks and cars and house and job. He could get any girl he wanted. Inside, however, there was a lot more and things definitely weren’t perfect. While he was content for the most part about things in his life, he’d never actually admit that he wished his family was different. He pushed that thought away as he focused back on Celine. “Oh, here I thought you owed me a dinner for sleeping with me and then leaving in the middle of the night.” Jeremy teased her and relaxed back into the seat. “You definitely are. And I’m pretty sure I have.” He was cocky, that was for sure, but he couldn’t help it. He liked flirting with her like this and seeing her reaction to stuff. “Really? And here I thought it was all about me.” The man teased her a little more before nodding. “He seems like a good man.” There was relief that passed through him when she said she was twenty-eight and shrugged. “Hey, doesn’t mean anything to me. As long as you’re older than twenty-five.” He didn’t want to go younger than that, personally. “Well, I guess we’re keeping this between us then, huh?”

Task #003 - House Tour

Jeremy lives in one of the rowhouse style townhomes (the grey one above) in the downtown area. It has three levels: the lower basement area is a garage and laundry area, the main floor has the living room, kitchen, and a bathroom, then lastly the second level has the master bedroom, a guest room, Jeremy’s office, and a bathroom.
