A surprising majority wanted to see the return of old faithful, so I’ve been cracking away on this thing for the past few days. Not only is it this blog’s anniversary, but also this story’s, so I think it’s safe to say you guys chose wisely. You were tired. So, so tired. You slept throughout the entire day, and then you slept some more. The only times you got up were to use the bathroom or get some water, you refused any kind of sustenance or human contact, all because you simply couldn’t function anymore. Seeing Hoseok lying on the bed next to you only filled you with more grief. He managed to survive thanks to you, but had been in a coma since, trying to fight for his life as you freely got away with yours. Whenever you had closed your eyes, you saw the man in front of you. The man you had shot. The man you had killed. You were haunted by the image of the last bit of life draining out of his body as he sunk to the ground and yet nothing but emptiness was inside of you. No tears, no emotions, nothing.
The others should have been working, but they kept on coming back to check on you and Hoseok, worrying more and more as time went on. The food Seokjin had prepared for you was left untouched, the magazines Jimin had brought were left unread and the gifts Namjoon had bought were left unopened. You didn’t deserve any of it. Or at least that’s what you had told yourself.
“Sweetie, you have to eat eventually.” Seokjin sat on the chair next to your bed as he gently held your hand the following evening, but you didn’t want to respond. You knew he was right and eventually you would cave, but instead you let a deep pit in your stomach grow further and further as it fed your inner demons. He let out a deep sigh before he stroked over your hand with his thumb one last time and let go. You felt a small piercing pain in your heart as you watched him leave, the little voice inside your head screaming for any kind of contact, but you drowned it out as the door closed behind him. You were just lying there, staring at the wall, then at Hoseok and then looking up at the ceiling, a vicious cycle that corrupted your thoughts. They were yelling at you for killing a man and you fell into a frightening darkness. This wasn’t who your friends wanted you to be, this wasn’t who your parents wanted you to be, this wasn’t who you wanted to be.
Murderer. Complete failure. Utter disappointment. The words echoed through your head as you begged them to stop. You pleaded for forgiveness, for a second chance, but they weren’t laying off. Not until you heard a faint knock on the door once again.
