i was thinking about that actually. it's going to be so funny watching kpop songs, especially by hybe artists, all of a sudden start reducing their english lyrics. it will be interesting to watch this unfold bcs companies now have to decide whether they would rather have the potential of us radioplay by using english lyrics or the potential of a grammy nomination by using korean lyrics

it could be cool for next year bcs i think other than bp and bts, most people expect that the next kpop artist to get a grammy nomination to be a hybe group but considering hybe is doing mostly english songs rn, it *could* lessen their chances which would mean sm or jyp or starship could surprise us by getting a nomination and it would be a refreshing escape from the hybe monopoly we're currently experiencing. however, that also feels unlikely bcs hybe are the ones with the most connections to the grammys plus their artists including bts members, yunjin and yeonjun are grammy members now

yeah! i do think this could be good for the industry because it might stop the english-alization of kpop music that has been happening for the past five or so years 🤷🏻‍♀️ and yeah, it would be good if it can stop or at least limit the rise of the hybe monopoly. also, i know everyone rn thinks hybe will have a shoe in because they already have connections with the grammys, but if anything this is proving their connections are not that good cause otherwise i think they would have stopped with the full english songs months ago lol

anw, i know that’s never gonna happen, but if any kpop artist gets nominated i would love them to be someone not from a big company

they had two kpop songs getting nominated in the big categories this year so i kinda saw this coming. it's unfortunate that this happening now means that a) if roseanne had released apt one year later she would have had it in the bag and b) there is no way that group aren't guaranteed to win next year. i'm also kinda sad that this category will be skewed towards kpop when asia is a huge and diverse continent. anw, jenlisa better include some korean/thai in their music moving forward

mmmh actually no! the rules say that for a song to be nominated “an asian language should play a significant role within [it]” and “incidental or minimal use [of the language] would not qualify.” so no, apt would not be eligible even if it had been released later 🤷🏻‍♀️ actually, of all the solos i think like jennie would have had an excellent shot at it if it had been a thing last year! also, the rules being like that actually means *** aren’t eligible either for now lol
