I made & designed this wood cabinet based on my previous shingle reliefs. I think it looks good and it is a good place to hide your treasures. If you need one, contact me.

Got inspired by wood shingles and wood roofs a while back. Made these two wood reliefs. First one (above) is made of curly birch. Second one (under) is made of oak and ash.

I was inspired by traditional techniques that were used by roof makers some hundreds of years ago. Roofing with shingles was common in rural Finland before modern materials became more common.    

I wanted to use sustainable and ecological materials. Curly birch is surplus from forest industry and oak is recycled material that used to be cutting boards. 

Random illustrations for a competion. There is vendace fish school, Saimaa ringed seal that is extremely endangered and lives only in Finland, some water lilies and birch trunks.

Illustrated some cool looking birds! Definitely more is coming. There is blue tit, jay, bearded tit, robin and golden oriole.

Made this set of boxes last winter. Maybe for your treasures? Material: ash.

During my furniture design studies in Aalto University School of Art, Design and Architecture I worked for Mobel Original Design and Studio Jouko Järvisalo as an intern. My main tasks were creating adds for design and architecture magazines, making technical drawings for databases and updating Mobel´s webpages. Here are few examples of my work. After my internship I continued working with Jouko Järvisalo and Mobel as a freelance designer. 

The works varied from spatial design, furniture and ceramic design to textile design. The exhibiting young designers were Sofia Fager, Sanelma Hihnala, Anna Kantanen, Anne Kärki, Panu Kontkanen, Hanna Korhonen, Veera Luostarinen, Mia Okura, Jenni Pehkonen, Katja Rouvinen, Heidi Siitonen, Maiju Uski ja Minjia Wang. I was also part of the exhibition architecture team.

I´m currently working with my thesis. I´ll graduate later this spring from Aalto university School of Art, Design and Architecture and this is what I´m doing right now. 

Sometime ago I was wandering in furniture stores trying to find a perfect bed (for me). I didn´t find any or some decent ones were way too expensive.

 I realised that I´m supposed to be a designer, so i should make my own. Here it is and I´m pleased. Pictures are bit grainy, sorry about that.

NEXT Design showcased a selection of 33 final thesis in the Masters of Aalto MoA12 exhibition. NEXT Design was part of Radical design week events.

I am also very grateful for this project. Even though everything did not go as planned, it taught me a great deal. Communicating via emails (without replies), dealing with customs and Chinese-speaking workers is not easy, but definitely worth it! I loved to work in Shanghai and I would do it again any time.

MoA´12 website

Exhibition took place in 100-year old port warehouse in Helsinki designed by Lars Sonck. Bit under 2000m² of exhibition space included e.g. seminar space, MoA´12 cafe and lounge area. Exhibition attracted almost 10 000 visitors.

I am truly happy that I got asked for this project. It was a great experience! Designing this huge exhibition, dealing with budget, taking part of the construction and contacting companies has made me much wiser. And I enjoyed it a lot!

HIRAMEKI Design x Finland website

This beauty flew to Tokyo, Japan and also sailed to Stockholm, Sweden. It is constructed from one small plank of birch. I like birch and small details. This particular chair has it all.
