like the choice to not sneak as they are coming back into candia. calroy can get ciabatta and the ambush in place because he knows that amethar is headed back to castle candy via a message from someone in port syrup, i'm sure.

the sugarplum fairy offers cumulous 'a great boon' if he brings the royal family to her. what would cumulous have asked for? is there something so great that the would have taken a deal or at least considered a deal with her? we never find out what he would have asked for because jet's death pulls focus and the spf sees ruby as more manipulable. we get so little with cumulous, we don't even really get an arc for him, despite being in over half the season. i think zac is bad at designing characters that are meant to have an endpoint which is a really sharp contrast with emily & lou who are so good at creating character arcs. ally and murph tend to have a starting point and potentially a question they want to answer which helps drive them. they're both very excited to yes and things that are offered to their characters to help drive that growth. siobhan and zac are imo the worst at this. ruby, even though she has a lot of grief, does not really grow meaningfully as a character. she starts as a second princess who wants to be an acrobat and she ends the season as a second princess who wants to be an acrobat but she's sad now. she doesn't even embrace a revenge narrative, she doesn't find acrobatics hollow now that she's lost everything. at least cumulous changes a little bit. he ends the season setting aside his cold calculating killing as a tool he doesn't need anymore when he kisses the caramel chicken. i wish we got more growth out of cumulous but he is playing this stoic silent type and murph & emily are the only one who makes any effort to incorporate new characters into their group dynamic which becomes really hard when emily's character becomes an outsider.

it is truly infuriating how little jet & ruby learned from the first 8 episodes. they watched lapin die. they watched preston die. they watched primsy almost bleed out. ruby was shot through the neck by an arrow, and caramelinda asking for them to wash up and eat and go to bed is too much for them to deal with. the last 3 weeks have been her worrying about her daughters and you won't give the woman 12 hours to process her feelings of relief that you're alive before you rebel again? they were never going to learn if it wasn't forced into them by a full death of one of the two of them. Lapin sacrifices himself and Jet gets herself killed anyway. lmao. the teenagers suck so bad. i'm so glad we are getting saccharina soon.

i feel pretty bad for murph because brennan doesn't give him the option to try and catch the twins sneaking out, even though murph and theo knew this was possible. i guess that's what the stealth checks from the teens are for. if they had failed theo or caramelinda would have caught them. theo is looking for amethar in the castle because he wants gossip of what queen caramelinda said. i love how nosy and petty theo is. he just wants to be included in stuff and ruby and amethar decide to leave him out of really big stuff later!!

i do wish it was ruby that died because she really squanders this opportunity to do something interesting BUT if it was ruby we would never get saccharina, so i am ultimately happy that it was jet that goes. even if the jet & theo story had so much promise. she was going to squire under him!

emily and siobhan both cry. i wonder if zac feels bad that no one cared about lapin enough to cry for him.

the toby scene makes me sooooooooooo sad. theo being the victim of anti-bear racism also???? but then the knock spell!!!!! (are there gummy bear fetishists in calorum? do they want gummy bears to role play predator/prey style kinks????? they should. maybe gooey would make him do that with her.)
