Final piece
This is the result of my lino printings. I printed them onto some handmade paper I bought because I liked the texture and unfinishedness of them. I thought about just concentrating on one print but I like the effect of the four together, it helps symbolise that it's a prevalent problem that woman are often not deemed as important. It's not something that just happens to a few women it happens to us all, less so now than in the past but there are still countless stories of women not being listened to or believed.
I wanted to use bright colours from the start of this project. I decided to use the colours I have because of the association and emotions attached to them. Red and orange signify anger (at not being heard, not having the same voice as men), pink is a typically "feminine" colour and so is blue considered "masculine" I used these two colours together to almost blend the two worlds. There shouldn't be a divide between what is considered masculine or feminine. It causes more differences and less acceptance of each other.
This may not have been the final piece I would have come up with if we were still at college but I'm happy with how it turned out. I feel the message is quite simple and easy to understand and it stands out. It's probably a little messier than I would have liked too but I only have limited resources and can't really afford to redo a piece if it's not perfect. I quite like the imperfections too.
