So, I see so much stuff about Hufflepuffs being cuddly and nice and sweet, and it’s great, because they’re not wrong.

We’re sweet, we like to do nice things for people, it makes us feel good inside. We love to cuddle and snuggle up with people, we love big sweaters and fluffy blankets.

We love to bake and we love sharing what we make with others. We get emotional easily, we put others before ourselves. We love sunshine and sugar and everything nice, it’s true. But that’s not all we are.

We are determined, if we want something, we work for it, even if it’s hard or painful. If it’s worth it we’re in it until we get what we want, or because it’s the right thing to do.

We are stubborn, we don’t like being told what to do. We do things our way, or grudgingly, and trust me we can hold a grudge. If you piss us off we arent just agitated we are royally pissed, like, Ashley-Ketchadorian-you-were-supposed-to-be-watching-the-door pissed.

We swear like sailors, not around family or little kids, but by ourselves or around friends, you better fucking believe we’re going to say whatever tumbles out of our mouths.

We love our friends and accept and comfort them, but if they do something completely stupid, you better believe we’re going to chew them out for it.

Snappy comebacks, good Lord here’s one nobody ever adds. Most people think it might be the slytherins with a quick tongue, or the clever ravenclaws, but oh no, no no no it’s us, the Hufflepuffs. Not even a second to actually think before words come flying out of our mouths. Whether to add to a witty conversation or to bicker with someone, Hufflepuffs will surprise you with this one.

Another thing, there’s also a lot about how sweet Hufflepuffs are, but when they get mad, they get mad, as I mentioned briefly above. But to add to that thought, Hufflepuffs don’t just get mad, Hufflepuffs will verbally d e s t r o y you, if you give them a reason.

So yeah, we bake and we loves cats, good God we love cats, and we love everything and everyone, but we are a lot more than that too.

actually looking forward to things and having enough energy to do everything you want to do 

the fresh feeling after cleaning everything and throwing away things that were piling up since forever, including mentally

realising that you haven’t thought about someone for three days straight when you’ve been sad about them for a long time

making a new friend who genuinely likes talking to you after feeling like you don’t belong anywhere or you’re better off alone

making more time for people that really matter to you and actually love you unconditionally instead of endlessly wondering why some people left you or didn’t reciprocate

not placing your entire sense of worth on someone else because you feel happy and whole by yourself 

an outward change in appearance, almost a kind of glow because you’re radiating warmth and strength from inside

good grades, making huge improvements and achieving whatever goals you have in mind

feeling calmer and not relying on external validation because you see your own worth, trust yourself fully and can accept imperfection, laugh at your own embarrassing moments, encourage yourself when you’re down and quickly forgive your own mistakes 

gaining enough respect for yourself to treat yourself gently and not tolerating anyone who treats you badly

realising that you feel lighter inside and nothing is as much as a chore as it used to be

feeling yourself become less unaffected by small things that used to ruin your day

realising that you can make any changes in your life if you stopped discouraging yourself so much

delete apps and social media that lowers your mood 

wear a new scent, throw away things you don’t need, delete contacts of people who make you feel unworthy, unfollow social media that makes you feel bad in any way

make a new playlist that makes you feel confident and happy 

in a journal, write down why you want to change, the traits of the person you truly want to be, the places you want to go and people that make you feel inspired

write down the things that stop you and bad habits you have, and replace those with new mindsets and habits 

before you sleep, make a detailed, achievable routine for the next day, that includes everything you want to do, including activities that genuinely make you happy

try new hobbies, like baking/cooking, playing a musical instrument, making art, learning a new skill, a sport, or a new language. you can easily get free resources online 

think about the ideal version of yourself. you can be like that, if you try your best and work hard. 

do not overwork yourself or set overly lofty daily goals and forget to do things like drink water. make your sleep and health your number one priority.

spend less time on your phone scrolling through social media. have a method of focusing on other things, like Pomodoro method or using the Forest app. 

if you can’t concentrate, commit yourself to doing it for 5 minutes. once you get into the flow it’s much easier to concentrate.

be patient and kind with yourself. it’s hard to change overnight. you’re the only one who can help change you, so be a friend to yourself.

once you start something, promise yourself you will finish it. 

have new weekly routines, like going to a cafe every Wednesday afternoon or indulging in your favourite tv show every Friday night.

do not deny yourself of good things; there needs to be a balance. similarly, do not be too generous and overdo it too much. 

dedicate a day to clean your room and organize your things if you feel stressed out. 

it may feel scary to change, as you may feel like it’s not the real you. but you’re still you, just the best version of yourself.

have a relaxing morning routine to look forward to, like making a nice breakfast, having a skin care routine, stretches, journalling, or thinking about nothing for a few minutes

have a mental image that makes you excited to do something. visualize yourself completing the goal and concentrate on it every morning.

however, learn not to rely on motivation because your brain will often turn off motivation, especially when you first begin something. have a routine, a specific time to do something, and do it. 

notice the places and people that drain your energy, and try to avoid them. find people who make you feel energized and places that calm you.

think about an enjoyable part of something. for example, when studying you can look forward to learning new things and when exercising, listening to calming music or using nice stationery. it’s actually more fun than you think. 

even though it’s hard, don’t compare yourself. you’re on your own path, and it doesn’t matter if people are better than you, because there will always be someone better than everyone. don’t be afraid to suck. so draw badly, write bad poems, run slowly, make embarrassing mistakes and fail everything. you can’t be good at something unless you’re terrible at something first. and doing anything badly is so much better than doing nothing.

don’t tell anyone about your new beginning, just start and let the results speak for themselves.
