One of the worst things about adhd is that you can be so well intentioned and you can really connect to a task or assignment and really want to do it but you build it up in your mind and you want to do it perfectly so you end off biting off more than you can chew and it’ll float around in your mind that I have to do this thing but there’s this pressure that keeps building up and you feel like you’re hitting a wall and suddenly the deadline comes and all of the effort you wanted to put in has to get thrown out the window and you’re always racing to catch up in a race that you don’t remember signing up for

This is so real. I saw a post going around about how “fanfic authors don’t accept critique anymore” And it’s like? Imagine you bake a batch of cookies and you take it to the office to share with your co-workers. And then someone just sits down and it’s like “Ah, the flavour profile is not quite proper. See, you should have added the brown sugar *after* the flour, and” And it’s like? Just eat the fucking cookie, Mike, and shut the fuck up. lmao A hobby doesn’t need critique. You don’t even need to be good at it. Let people have fun on the internet, for god’s sake.

Continuing with the cookie metaphor! I’ve had people come into the comments on my art with “get better ships”. That’s like a complete stranger walking into the office and telling me not to make chocolate chip cookies anymore because it’s not *their* preference of cookie. These (free and made with love) cookies aren’t for you!
