Walking home after a night shift was never easy; itâs cold and dark. You hated both equally. One thing that got you trough was the image of falling asleep in your bed. You just wanted to shove yourself into your warm comforter and if youâre lucky enough, youâd find your boyfriend and got to cuddle next to him. Maybe. Maybe not, not after what happened last time you saw him this morning.
Petty fight with Renjun was a common thing. Youâd both fight over the smallest thing possible, like the dish, or the way he had never put his dirty laundry on its place. But the last one was different. Renjun decided that to bring up your past was a smart idea. It wasnât. The truth is, it pissed you off. So instead of peaceful morning with coffees on each hands, Renjun and you yelled at each otherâscreaming on the top of your lungs like you never did before.
Your shared flat was empty, no sign of Renjun in the room. You sighed, shouldâve guessed it before that he wonât be here after this morning.
You took a long shower, drenching your body with hot water as hundreds of thought flying around in your head. You loved Renjun. But lately your small fights turned into a heat and bigger ones. You couldnât help but feeling empty. He wasnât the Renjun you met years ago. It pains you to say that he turned into a stranger as days went by. Or maybe what you both need was to talk things out.
So when you heard the door swung open, you expected Renjun to have a conversation with you. Eyes to eyes, heart to heart, as a couple of adults willing to fix what had broken. But you had to be disappointed with a drunk Renjun storming through the door.
âYouâve been drinking tonight, havenât you?â
Renjun scoffed as he limply walked past you, âPretty obvious, isnât it?â
He took off his coat as he walked past you. You watched him carefully while he sat down on the stool behind the kitchen counter and filled a glass from the tap. âWeâll talk tomorrow when youâre sober, Renjun. You should change and go to sleep.â
âOr now.â He put back the glass once it empty. âTalk now. I might not be here when you wake up tomorrow.â
Renjun snorted, âCanât you see us? We fight like thereâs no tomorrow, Y/N, what else is left for us?â
âPlease donât do this,â you walked closer to the kitchen. âWe can try.â
Renjun stood up, he gestured you to stay in your spot and not move an inch. And you could see it, as much as it hurts you, it tore Renjun apart like it did to you. He smiled at you, that smile you never saw in the past months. And deep inside, you were glad you could see it for the last time.
âI saw it coming a mile off, I should know that we donât stand a chance.â Renjun hugged you he emphasized every words in your ear, âI loved you.â
