in multiple countries around the world (mostly European and Christian countries) this date is celebrated as Saint John's Day. however, activities start at sunset on June 23rd. these include fireworks, bonfires, etc.

here's the interesting part, though.

this date is significant besides the religious meaning because it is also the celebration of the summer solstice.

basically, in the Roman calendar, 24 June is **the longest day**. that means that, once that day is over, the days start getting shorter and shorter.

i believe this is significant in the lore for multiple reasons.

do you remember that question we got a while ago? "how long it took her to smile"? this was one of the possible answers you could get.

next, in the teaser images we got, you can see multiple flowers as decorations. one of them, curiously enough, are sunflowers.

i want to talk more about sunflowers though, because i feel like they're interesting considering the themes i'm talking about. contrary to popular belief, sunflower do not ALWAYS face the sun. they do when they're young, but as they reach maturity they stop doing so. the more they grow up, the less they follow the sun.

i think we can all agree that an important theme in deltarune is enjoying your youth and writing your own future. that's why i found interesting that sunflowers are there, because they stop facing the sun - being positive, even- once they grow older.
