It shows affection/camaraderie by making personalized potions to make your life better. (potions to replenish magic, make your headache go away, have better dreams etc). You'll know they're your friend if they don't ask for anything in return. Most of the time, it tries to trap people fae-style and try to hold them in debt. If it doesn't consider you a friend, make sure you ask if there are any strings attached to spontaneous gifts and favors....

It does harbor the capacity for genuine kindness, and it quite enjoys the companionship of other monsters. New friends may find it a bit difficult to get past that outer shell of tricky merchant wiles and to the true critter underneath.

They have a tendency to self-sabotage to avoid disappointment/abandonment, but over time they learn that there are people out there that can be trusted <3
