This was a painting I started back in 2013. I did most of it on the car ride from Galway to Dublin, shortly after we stopped at Athenry Castle, part of which is depicted here. I’ve been meaning to finish it up forever, so today I got it a little closer to done. Did this up in Procreate on my iPad 2.

As some may or may not know already, my wife, Loreal, was diagnosed with thyroid cancer just after Christmas last year.  Since the initial diagnosis, we have been pursuing treatment options, and on Friday, February 13th (Friday the 13th, yikes!) she will be heading to the hospital in Loma Linda, CA for a complete thyroidectomy and possible removal of other parts of her lymphatic system.  If you have to get cancer in your lifetime, thyroid cancer is a good one to have, as it has a 95% total cure rate.  The surgery will of course remove most if not all of the cancer from her body, but there will be follow up treatment with iodine radiation to annihilate the rest of it.  As Loreal has been at her current job for a very short time, she does not as yet qualify for the medical leave benefits she might otherwise have had.  To that end, her company—Premiere Health Services—has started a fundraiser to help us out during her recovery, and has generously offered to match all donations, dollar for dollar, up to $5,000.  If you would like to check it out and find out more about it, the fundraiser site can be found here:

Work in progress on the Augy--or is it Auggie?--painting for our friends in Atascadero. Experimenting with different colors and brushes on the background before I go in and lay in the finer details and rendering. Working Hard And Hardly Working
I'm clocked out of my day job and clocked into my dream job, finalizing the script and layouts for the JTFH Origin Issue, and turning out some finished panels for a vignette that I hope to post later, along with some cover artwork for forthcoming tales and adventures. Right now, though, I'm grabbing some greasy taco sustenance at Los Jilbertos in Murrieta, and then will pop next door to Ryan's Comics to pick up some action packed mental sustenance for this arduous day of comic book making. Chrome Magnon Man Working up a new character and cover composition for another entry into the JTFH canon of awesomeness. This is a giant robot caveman, designed by one of Jed's many arch nemesii, The Misanthropologist. Fabricated from spare parts in the local community college's metal shop and engineering department, Chrome Magnon Man is a twenty foot tall pre-human monster. The Tools Of Creation I've got the day off from my day job, and I'm clocked in for another sixteen hour shift at my unpaid dream job of writing, drawing, and enacting all other verbs germaine to the creation and publication of comic books.
