Hello friends, far and wide! It's official — Anidala Week 2026's theme is A Love Across Time. As we know, our favorite star-crossed lovers' wedding was introduced to us close to 25 years ago (which, how is that possible?), and their love has certainly transcended time! In keeping with the theme, the mods thought it was only fair to include prompts that span our canon Star Wars universe and the modern day.

Anidala Week is about creating all forms of ART for our favorite star-crossed lovers — so all forms of art are accepted! Whether it's illustrations, fics, edits, videos, or gifs— finished or a WIP, we want to see it posted and tagged so we can recognize your art! Be creative friends, and let your love for Anidala lead you! All eligible participants will be placed into our raffle, no matter the word count, no matter the media of choice.

Spans from 100 BBY to 19 BBY. Surrounds and centers on the Separatist Crisis, the Clone Wars, and the destruction of the Jedi Order through Order 66. For Movie reference, this is from Phantom Menace - Revenge of the Sith.
`ঔঌ. Day Three, 7/28 | Old Republic (The Sith Era)
Spans from 25,053 BBY (the founding of the Republic) to 1000 BBY (the Seventh Battle of Ruusan & End of New Sith Wars). Surrounds a period after the Great Galactic War, which forces the Galactic Republic & Sith Empire into a tense and fragile period of peace. Also includes the Birth of the Jedi & Republic, the Creation of the Sith, and the Rule of Two (For Sith). Game reference, these are Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic I & II and Star Wars: The Old Republic, also the Disney non-canon Legends stories.
`ঔঌ. Day Four, 7/29 | High Republic
About 500 to 100 Years before the events of The Phantom Menace. Surrounds the golden age of the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order, with huge exploration, innovation, and peaceful expansion. The major threats were the Nihil (space marauders) and the Nameless, which are force-devouring entities. Show references are the Acolyte, Young Jedi Adventures, and many Legends High Republic comics and Novels.
`ঔঌ. Day Five, 7/30 | Age of Rebellion
Spans from 5 BBY to 4 ABY (or 5ABY depending on the reference). Also known as the Rebellion Era — it surrounds the organization of the Rebel Alliance and the galactic war against the Empire. For Show Reference, this is Andor and Star Wars Rebels, and Movie reference, A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi.
Note: While technically this means Anakin has turned into Darth Vader in Canon, we will make an exception: any entries with Vaderdala on this specific day will be valid as long as you find a way to mix Anidala and Vaderdala. Please tag both if it's a fic entry!
`ঔঌ. Day Six, 7/31 | Rise of the First Order
Span from 34 ABY to 35 ABY. It chronicles the events of the Sequel Trilogy, where Imperial remnants turned into a dictatorship and put the galaxy into war. The First Order went public in 29 ABY, operating out of the Unknown Regions as a military junta guided by resurrected Palpatine.

These weren’t meant to be sequential, but they do sort of read like Obi having a moderately difficult afternoon and Dooku letting him drink alcohol at dinner
there’s something almost sinister about how Shadow Lord handles Maul… and I don’t mean in-universe. I mean what it does to us as the audience.
because tell me why I caught myself multiple times leaning forward like, "oh… this might actually work." "oh, i would like to see what happens," like I was considering it. like I was ready to watch Devon fall and go, "yeah, okay, I get it, I support it."
and that’s the trap.
this whole time, we knew who Maul is. manipulator, survivor, (at one point) a victim, walking vendetta wrapped in charisma, Sam Witwer voice, and cool tattoos. him technically not being a Sith anymore doesn’t cleanse anything. it just makes him more unpredictable. he’s not serving Sidious anymore, he’s serving himself.
and still… the show makes you feel for him.
that last episode especially felt like emotional whiplash in the best, most unsettling way. one moment you’re watching him inch closer to getting what he wants; Devon as an apprentice, and there’s this creeping tension where you think, "is it really gonna happen?" and then the next moment he’s practically delivering Master Daki to Vader like a calculated sacrifice.
and it snaps back into place.
oh. right. he’s awful.
but it doesn’t stick, does it? because then Daki dies, Devon is angry and shattering the way Maul wants.
and Maul... Maul has that moment. that barely-contained smile. that flicker of satisfaction he tries to hide while feeding her anger, sharpening it. "we will have our revenge." and suddenly you realize something deeply uncomfortable:
he’s not just manipulating her.
he’s been manipulating us the entire time.
because why are we feeling anything close to hope when he speaks? why does his pain feel compelling enough to blur the lines? why did I, even for a second, forget that wanting Devon to follow him is wanting her destruction?
it’s not just character writing at that point. it’s narrative sleight of hand.
and honestly? I have to give it to the writers. because making Maul likable isn’t new. making him tragic isn’t new. but making the audience complicit in his manipulation? making us feel the pull of the dark side alongside the characters?
that’s something else entirely.
it’s unsettling. and it works a little too well for my liking.
