Cute as a Berry

“Pecha you’re going to kill me.”

“Well I keep seeing them, so doesn’t that make them contagious?”

“Kakios! I don’t want to have the fish plague! We need to do something!” She fidgeted for a bit, trying to come up with a solution before,”CATS!”

“Pecha, I adore you, but there is no bigger joke than me.”

“Is it a plague?”

Pecha and Etra were snacking when Pecha felt something pat her back. Turning around, she saw nothing. She shrugged. The duo finished their snacks and moved on to their next stop and the stop after that, all the while gaining stares and giggles from people who noticed what was on her back.

Eventually, her partner got a glimpse of the paper fish. “Ee? Eevoi eev… eev voi voi~” Pecha? You know you have…something on your back~

He was dense, not an idiot… but still dense.

“I know what it is; the question had been rhetorical,” he replied, his tongue in his cheek.  “I’ve seen it in books.  People give them to their friends and lovers, correct?  I didn’t think we were even on the level of ‘friends’ though.”  He stared at the offering again, this time a bit less perplexed.  “Well I guess it’s fine.  Thanks… I think.”  That was what one said in these situations, right?

“Yeah well...”Pecha laughed.”It’s not like I’m used to making Valentine’s a huge deal and still want to or anything~” Because might as well just celebrate and accept the pink = must be into Valentine’s Day references rather than fight them.

“Why would I ever have gotten something like that?”  Maybe from his parents when he was a kid, but he’d never been very cute as a kid either.

“Well...I kinda figured I would be your first-”She froze for a second and backtracked,”First person to give you a Valentine but how do you not know of them? They’re advertised a lot. And in shows...And magazines...You really didn’t recognize it?”
