Living an Intuitive Life

Life has been busy therefore I have not had much time for creativity lately. I let myself play last night. Like life, art and creativity are not necessarily about the destination or final result all of the time. It's the intention and being present with the joy of creating where art is born. Creating is an active form of meditation. Drawing is a new adventure for me - specifically drawing faces. There's this call in me that is speaking louder each day to grab some pens, pencils, pastels, paper and to start exploring drawing, specifically faces without any structure around the how and without expectation of results. This is one of my creations last night. Whether it's "pretty" or not, doesn't matter. I use to judge myself for my depth and intensity. I've been told since I was a little girl that I was "sensitive, in my head too much, thought too much, worried too much...." What I was, was me. Not too much of anything! I was a little girl that was sensitive, highly aware of the energy around me and that of others. I felt everything because I was in my heart. ❤ . As an adult I embrace my ability to go deep, be sensitive, to feel it all. It is in the depths of my heart and soul where I met myself. It is in my fear of shallow living I continue to dig deep and discover who I am. Our intuition speaks to us in very subtle ways but when we learn to recognize it, it becomes loud and clear and communicates to us through all of the senses. . Becoming present in your body is the first step in learning how to trust your inner compass. We live in a society where we live from the head up. We are so much in our rational, logical, thinking minds that we don't check in with our physical and energetic bodies to see what feels right. . I was struggling this morning, missing #yyz but know intuitively #yyc is where I'm supposed to be right now. The learning, growth and discovery of myself as the person I am today continues to leave me with a feeling of reverence. I see beauty every evening as I look out my condo window and explore the energy of this city. I am also reminded through events, such as the one attended tonight @outsidetheshape that there is a common thread we all share as humans - the desire to connect. Tonight the Universe reminded me I am exactly where I am supposed to be and gifted me with the presence of amazing, soulful, likeminded women that are on the same path I am, but in their unique way. Since I was a little girl journaling has been a big part of my life. I have times though where I step away from it. In my twenties, after reading Julia Cameron's The Artist's Way, I began a daily practice of morning pages. It is a practice that creates space in my busy mind for what's important; creativity, intuition, presence and focus. For me journaling is an active form of meditation. One, that when I allow the busyness of life to become a priority and not make the time for 15 minutes in the morning, I notice the impact. Lately I've allowed that busyness to take over.
